How to inactivate HREF tracks in QT movies?

I got a couple of QT movies that contain HREF tracks, so playing them opens websites or start javascripts. This is not only annoying, but I also consider it a security problem. Is there a way to tell Quicktime to GENERALLY ignore the HREF tracks?

Newer versions (7.1.5 and higher) have disabled javascript or HREFTrack that point to anything other than files served via http or rstp.
If you own Pro and they are "local" files you can delete the hidden track(s) using the Movie Properties window.
There is no "universal" setting to disable these tracks.

Motion 3 - Motion Tracking and Match Move

Hi, I have no problem learning how to use motion tracking or match move because there's plenty of tutorials online. My question is, if let's say i motion tracked a clip to my original clip and half way through the movie an obstacle comes into the position where my motion tracked clip is. How do i make is so the obstacle appears in front of the motion tracked clip?
For example, take apple's motion 3 sample video.

The place where they put the GPS clip, if while the girl is driving she moves her hand in front of the GPS. How would we make it so that her hand appears in front of the GPS not behind it?

If I am understanding you correctly, it sounds like you are asking how to have an object that is part of the background layer appear in front of an object that you are going to composite in an match-move.
The only way to do that is to duplicate the background layer and move it in front of the layer you are bringing in, then create a mask around the portion of layer you want to keep (in the example you provide - the girl's hand).
You would have to go frame-by-frame and animate the mask to follow her hand - very time consuming but I don't see any other way.

HREF Track - I can't figure out how to make.

I just need to redirect to another page after a movie plays, so then it will play Part 2 of the movie.
All this developer info is very confusing. Does anyone have any sample HTML code that I can use to embed my movies with a HREF Track?
If it doesn't work in the embedded code, then what are the steps to actually make the track?

How to match sound track to movie pictures? (the sound track is shorter)

I have a sound (narrative) track of approx 1 hr which talks about the movie film. However the film I have, is a slightly different version, that is about 10 min longer then the sound track and I would like to restore the match, e.g. by something like cutting the sound track and inserting blanks, or cutting and moving the sound a couple of seconds. Note I'm totally new to Premiere V 10. I presume I would have to use start and end marks in the sound track and place the subsequent sound parts on a new sound (or narrative?) track (but it seems I will need to introduce additional silent parts, I cannot just move (drag?) the next sound track a couple of seconds to the left.
I would guess there are a couple of easy tricks to achieve my goal.

Well well: not easy nor trivial at all, but I haven’t given up as yet! I’ll describe my workflow below.
1.       Play video fragment, and comparing film picture and sound estimate position where I need to introduce a silent period and it length.
2.       By double click play sound “comment track” on the monitor and set end stop (I would actually prefer if the sound track could be zoomed to more easily/accurately find best position)
3.       Play mute sound clip in preview and set time length with end stop and close preview
4.       Move mute clip to comment track, which has been shortened in step 2
5.       Play main sound clip in Preview and set start point
6.       Move this sound clip to comment track.
But sometime things go slightly wrong, e.g. when moving mute or sound fragment to “comment track” I find that the video track cuts (not intended)
Another difficulty I still need to master is related to the phenomena you mentioned before, related to moving sound clips, parts which were before the starting point show up (e.g. drag edges).
I hope you can roughly follow my explanatory story (I realise writing such workflow is difficult and critically depends on the same use of words concepts definitions and jargon (note my Adobe Premiere Elements is in Dutch).
I’d much appreciate your comments (maybe another software would be friendly to the inexperienced senior citizen)

How do you create a clickable QT movie that opens a URL in a browser

Hi,
I'd like to create a stand-alone, downloadable QuickTime movie that -- when you click on it -- opens up a Web page in the viewer's web browser.
I just read this article about HREF tracks, but I didn't find it to be specific enough to be much help to me.

I've been watching this thread, hoping for an answer. Too bad you guys can't figure it out. Perhaps I can add another piece to the puzzle...
I have used peer-to-peer software (Acquisition) to download files from "shared" networks. (Yes, it violates copyrights, and with the recent spate of OS X "Trojan", is risky. Mea culpa. I have ceased this behavior.)
Sometimes, however, a search will provide a boatload of ".mov" files in the 1-3mb size range. (The search term "Jenna" works wonderfully.) If you download one of them, and either look at it in Column View-Preview or actually open the file, (it is set to "Autoplay on opening"), about 1/3 of the way into the file, your default browser will open to a URL which contains "adult" content.
I have opened one of these files using TextEdit, and by searching for "http" can find the "call" (if you will) for the website. However, it is embedded in "gobbledygook" which I can't understand. HexEditor fares no better.
When you open the file as a movie, however, and look Window-Show Movie Properties, you find three tracks: Audio, Video, and Flash. If you extract the Flash track and play it alone, it "calls" the URL and the website opens. The Video track does not do this.
I don't know what to do with this information, maybe you others can use it to figure something out.
EDIT: I opened the Flash Track with TextEdit. It's too long to post in this message, but not too long for a new post. If it'll help, I can reply again.

hi philly, thanks for getting back to me, especially on such a busy day.
I don't think that's quite the issue though. I bought an album and it appears in 'my purchases' within the itunes app. Yet, in order to listen to the music, i must use the 'music' app and in this application, there are only three tracks displayed at any one time from my downloaded album.
I can 'download all' from the 'my purchases' section but that still doesn't help, it just keeps the last three tracks downloaded in the music app.
I have the 'icloud' enabled and wondered if it had anything to do with that.
i have successfully downloaded another full album totally into the music app, but this first album is causing me problems.

"Program-monitor" shows the final edited material, and "Source-monitor" shows only one track at a time, and NOT SYNCHRONIZED with the sequence. "MultiCam-monitor" shows the tracks as I need, BUT editing is very stiff: I want to do edits+cross-fades by hand IN THE TIMELEINE rather than by clicking the monitors. (Some of the "MultiCam-monitor's" other problems: 1) the timeline's time-inspector doesn't move while clicking the monitors, 2) vice-versa: monitor-image doesn't roll when the space-key is pressed for playback the timeline, 3) monitor doesn't show the cross-fades.....) I understand the "Reference-monitor" doesn't help either at this.
I would SO much like to SEE all tracks' materials simultaneously in whatever monitor, to edit efficently in the timeline.
Software: Premiere CS3 version 3.2.0
Operating System: Mac OS X (v10.4)

You can only do this in the multicamera monitor. That's what it's there for. Proper procedure is to cut there, then go to the timeline and add transitions.
If you're multicamera monitor playback isn't working correctly (I admit having a hard time understanding your points here), then try solving those.

Quicktime 7.1.5 disables HREF Tracks

I have a javascript/quicktime video/transcript viewer that has been working very reliably with quicktime video files on either disk or web (streaming) for 2 years (you can see it at http://fnsp.arts.ubc.ca/index.php?id=5084. The transcript should automatically update in the lower window). But not after the Quicktime 7.1.5. This is a major problem, as I recently showed a project in the viewer at a major conference and people are likely trying to access it. Why an update that crashes existing implementations?
Anyway, any help resolving this problem would be much appreciated. The HREF Tracks are one of the things that makes Quicktime so excellent -- when they work! PLEASE give them back (or tell me how to upgrade my app).

Judging from the huge response to this thread, not many of you out there have been using HREF tracks with Javascript. But in case you have, here is what appears to be the reason they no longer work. In the 7.1.5 update, security concerns have limited the functionality of HREF tracks loaded from remote servers to only calling URLs, and from local disks to only calling file references. No more javascript calls, it would seem. So much for stability.
Thanks a lot Apple. What's a couple of years work down the tubes, eh? I guess I won't be working in one of your environments again anytime soon. Adios.

It's for a dream sequence.

The better method (I feel) is to rotate the camera when shooting.
Certainly that is better. However, I don't have a way to do that, so I imagine that most people don't either. I can turn my tripod's head on its side, but upside down? Not so easy.
Having said that, there are camera cages designed to do that.
It is true that my way doesn't fill the frame so one way to handle that is to do it on a copy of the video on a higher track, and blur the heck out of the original to keep the frame filled. Some amount of blur is often associated with dream sequences.

Appliaction to replace audio tracks in QT movies

I am looking for utility to replace original audio tracks with a new audio tracks in exisiting QT movie.
Technically, there is a folder A with QT movies (Video and Audio track in each) and folder B with Audio files only (length of movies and audio files is the same). I need the utilty that takes file from folder B and replaces na audio track in QT movie in folder A with it (matches by file name).
The reason I need this is that I've got a QT movies and I need to enhance an audio tracks. I can extraxt audio files, send them to audio batch processor, get them back... and I need another batch application to exchange original files with the new, processed files.
I know it could be done with Apple Script, but I feel that something ready to use could exist...
It would be great if there is a single applicaiton that can do it (audio extraction - processing - exchange).

Grouping tracks- will only move one track.

Greetings.
I have a project that has about six "layers". Some of the layers have fades, and LT affects. If I click on a track, then click the group button on the other five layers that I want to move, only the layer that I click on moves.
It seems like it should be pretty straight forward. I did trash the prefs as suggested in another post, and ran Disk Utilitie. I'm using version 2.1 installed with FCE 3.5.1.
I also tried moving the blue line in the canvas, and that only moved the blue line, and nothing in the timeline.
Any ideas?

If memory serves me correctly the group track function is designed to keep all the tracks in a certain position. You know like track one with text "Live" on top of track two with text "Type".
When you move track one in the canvas, which in this example it's the track the other(s) are grouped to, it should also move track two so that track one stays on top of track two.
If you move one track in the timeline it doesn't move the other tracks in the timeline. By Grouping tracks the positioning will stay the same, in the canvas, regardless of how you change when tracks appear in the timeline.
I hope that makes it more clear rather than more confusing.

Yes, you can do this.
In iMovie, use SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME...
In the dialog box, choose "Sound to AIFF".
This will create a sound only version of your movie in the AIFF codec.
You can drag this AIFF file into iTunes and convert it to AAC or MP3.
In iTunes, go to iTunes/Preferences. In the General Tab, click the Import Settings button. Remember how it is currently set, (because you may want to change it back.) Choose IMPORT USING: MP3 Encoder.
Now, right-click on the music track in iTunes and select "Create MP3 Version".

Thank you! I put some self help hypnosis tracks to listen to on my iPod. I did not want to go to the next track automatically, I wanted to listen to them individually, one at a time. (If I fell asleep, I did not want to 'wake up' in the middle of a different track.) Your information helps me understand that I need to re-load this playlist onto my iPod from my Mac computer, only first, I need to UNCHECK the boxes in front of each track so the iPod will STOP each time after playing the selected track. It is too bad that so many functions are not availabvle within the iPod, but that is probably why they can make it so compact.
