How to increase built-in cisco vpn peer response timer?

Hi,
I use OS x in-built cisco vpn client to connect to work VPN.
The VPN server, or perhaps the radius server, takes a long time to return a response. OS X always try for 10 seconds, then drop the conneciton when no response from the remote peer. When I use cisco vpn client on a windows machine, the vpn client has a setting to allow for 90 seconds remote peer response time. It works fine using cisco vpn client.
I prefer to use os x as my primary working environment, so I need to fix this problme. My question is how to increase the phase 1 & 2 timer for vpn under 10.6.7. I have tried to change racoon.conf phase 1 & phase 2 timer, but it made no difference. OS X only try for 10 seconds.
Any ideas? (besides asking work people to fix the server or radius problem)
Thanks

i have the same problem ... certificate is imported in keychain, but cant select it when setup vpn connection

  • How to increase Bandwith using Cisco Radios.

We currently have Aironet 1310's that link two buildings together. We recently bought two Aironet 1142's with the hope to use them to increase bandwith between buildings.
We realize a Controller is needed too, to implement the 1142's which we haven't bought yet... and the 1142's are more for indoor than out.
First, can the 1142's be used to link the buildings together if we aim them via windows, or put them in a weather proof enclosure? Everywhere we looked we didn't see any 802.11n devices for outside...
Second: or is it better to buy more 1310's...and somehow multilink them together adding bandwidth?
The goal here is to increase bandwidth, of course.
    Thanks,

First, I think this question was better in the wireless subsection rathen than switching :-)
The 1250 is a better choice than 1140, because it has external antennas and that's what you want for a bridge. 1140 doesnt' support bridge setup.
Moreover both 1250 and 1140 can work as standalone. Check on cisco.com, you will see IOS software for both those APs.
1250 is indeed a good way of increasing bandwitdh. If you go the 1310 way you can only have 3 of them (using all 3 available channels : 1,6,11) and I discourage building them in eterchannel as people are tempted to.
    Hope this helps,
    Nicolas

  • How to increase no of boolean checklist at run time???

    Hello All,
I am reading certain names from excel file and storing in an array. And if my array contains 10 strings(Names) then it should create ten Boolean ticks and that name should be given to them. I have done programming but every time it creates only one boolean and all names are given to same boolean check. Is there any other method???
    I am attaching my program.
    Thanks in advance...

Your array of Boolean ref is an array to the same single Boolean. Not an array of ref to multiple Boolean.
You can't create Boolean controls on the fly so you must use another method.
I would use a tree control with check box symbols.

I had the same problem, and I think Cisco VPN client causes crashes in SL ( I had at least 3 crashes everyday) after uninstalling Cisco VPN client I don't have crashes anymore
    for uninstalling :
    1- open terminal
    2-cd /
    3-type cd /usr/local/bin ( hit return)
4-type ls and hit return ( to be sure that vpn_uninstall is there)
    5-Type sudo ./vpn_uninstall ( hit return)
    6- type your admin pass.
7- for the question type yes( hit return)
8- do the same as 7
    then your good to go

  • Cisco VPN Client causes blue screen crash on WindowsXP Pro (Satellite M30)

    Hi there,
I've got a Satellite Pro M30 running Windows XP Professional.
After starting a vpn Tunnel via a Cisco VPN Client (Version 4.6 and 4.7) the system crashes with a blue screen.
I can see that the key exchange is successful, but immediatly after the vpn connection gets established Windows XP crashes with a blue screen.
Has anyone an idea, how to solve this problem?
Maybe by device driver update? And if so, which driver should be updated?
    Kind regards,
    Thorsten

    Hi R2D2 (and anyone else)!
1st of all (concerning your link) - I'm not using the wireless adapter.
I am connectet via 100Mbit via network-cable to my hub (all RJ45 TP Cat.5)
I found several other Notebook users by google'ing who have the same problem different vpn-clients but most of them with a centrino processor inside the notebook.
Almost all of them solved the problem by installing new drivers. But I can't use driver-patches from other Notebook to fix my Toshiba Drivers.
What could help is information about which driver is responsible for the crash by vpn clients on centrino notebooks. Maybe there is an Intel driver for it, but when I do not know which one causes the problem it's like seeking a needle in a haystack... :(
Disabling ALL other network devices (wireless, 1394-network adapter, modem, etc.) did not solve the problem.
I used the Cisco VPN clients several times on my old Compaq Notebook without any problems, but here it just doesn't work.
An idea which driver should be updated is kindly welcome!
    Thank you, Thorsten

    Hi Karsten,
Thank you for the reply !!! & best wishes for the new year 2014.
The problem is like this, if i select datacard connection type to NDIS it works but it doesnt work when i select RAS(modem) connection type for 3G datacard it doesnt. (NDIS and RAS(Modem) connection types are the 2 modes currently supporetd by the datacard.). Is there any case the users are experiencing from the similar problem? and what they have done to solve the issues? And thank you for the workaroung, i have checked the shrew-soft with win7 and it was working fine but not on win8, i will check shrew-soft on win8 very soon. Also we can move to the anyconnect solution but just want to know if this can solve our problem or not? whether there will be any issues with anyconnect solution for win 8 or not? can you please confim.

  • How to add new group entry in Cisco Vpn using powershell

I am working on a powershell script to connect cisco vpn using powershell, I am able to connect to vpn but not sure how to add new group to vpn. I am using the following script$vpn_profile = 'Test'
    $username = 'TestUser'
    $userPassword = ConvertTo-SecureString -String "Password" -AsPlainText -Force
    $credentials = new-object -typename System.Management.Automation.PSCredential -argumentlist
    $username,$userPassword
    $password = $credentials.GetNetworkCredential().Password
    Set-Location 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco Systems\VPN Client'
    .\vpnclient.exe connect $vpn_profile user $username pwd $password
    Write-Host "You Are Connected"
    cd "C:\"

Have you entered .\vpnclient.exe /? to see if it will return information about other switches you can use with this executable? Other than connect, I was able to track down a few without actually having the executable (http://www.scribd.com/doc/40108893/Cisco-VPN-Client-Command-Line).
That said, I do not believe that there is a switch that will help you create a connection. These are either done manually through the GUI, or can be likely be added by supplying a properly formatted file in the proper place.
If you're using the version of the Cisco VPN client I think you are, then your connection settings, or profiles, are stored in individual .pcf files somewhere on your computer (likely in the Cisco directory). These are simple, text-based files. Find one
on your computer, save it with another name, and then modify it manually. If you really want to use PowerShell, then use this opportunity to learn how to create and edit basic text files using PowerShell. If you have a standard connection file, then you can
put that file onto remote computers any number of ways. If a .pcf file exists in the proper place when the VPN client is opened, then it likely will not prompt for a new connection.
    Update: Added more info; clarified

  • Using Cisco VPN client certificate for built in IPSec?

    Hi,
Does anybody know if it is possible to "convert" a certificate exported from Cisco VPN client and import it into the Keychain for using it with built-in IPSec in Snow Leopard?
    Thanks,
    Oli

I too am having trouble importing the Cisco certificate. It would be nice for some clear documentation. We've been successful converting the x.509 cer to KPCS#7 using openssl which will import into the keychain. However, the VPN (Cisco IPSec) sill doesn't see it.

  • 10.4.7: Cisco, VPN, Groups ... How?

I see in the release notes for OS X 10.4.7 that it now supports the Cisco VPN "groups". Since my company uses that, I'm very interested! But I can't see how to configure that ... Internet Connect still looks the same, doesn't appear to have anywhere to enter the group name / password.
    Clues?
    MacBook Pro (2x2.16GHz, 2Gb RAM, 100Gbx7200)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   iMac G5, iBook, Parallels/WinXP, linux

Yeah, go to the Configuration drop down menu and select Edit Configurations... you can then enter the advanced info there. However don't expect it to work. At this point I don't believe anything Apple says about VPN connectivity with Cisco anymore. They've been saying it's fixed since 10.4.5 and it continues to fail everytime I try to connect.

  • I have an airport extreme with a HP Folio laptop and cannon pixma MX882 printer. when i am VPN'd in thru Cisco vpn and try to print the wireless print connection stops. i Un-VPN and it prints. then i have to go back into VPN to continue?how do i configure

i have an Airport Extreme wireless router, HP Folio laptop (company supplied) and a Canon PIXMA MX882 wireless printer, copier, scanner and fax.
when i am VPN's in thru CISCO VPN to my company Intranet site I cannot print wirelessly. i have to turn off VPN, priint and log back into the company intranet site.  is there a way to configure the router so that it is not blocking the signal?
    Tx

The problem is not the router.. the issue is the vpn has put your computer in a different IP range with a different gateway. When you turn off the vpn the computer returns to local lan and can print.
Some vpn software allows you to set gateway to use local net instead of remote gateway or access to other webistes or local lan.
    Read up the issue.

    Cisco vpn client..
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/239113
I did not search much.. just grabbed the first article I could find that explains the issue.
The whole point of the vpn is whilst it is connected your computer is NOT part of the Local Lan .. it is part of the Remote LAN via the vpn tunnel.
It is also a security risk using split tunnelling so often it will not be allowed.
Plug the printer directly into the computer via usb or whatever.. Local connection will work.. not local lan.
