How to increase capacity from 8GB to 16GB

I have an 8GB iphone 4 is it possible to upgrade the capacity to 16GB?

You could sell the iPhone 4 and get an iPhone with a larger capacity. But upgrading the storage is not an option that apple offers.

Can I Exchange my ipod Touch from 8GB to 16GB in the Bluewater Apple store, what is their return policy for this, would I be allowed? I have opened and used it a few times, I also still have both the plastic seals on it

No. The Apple Store (and all retailers I know of, including Best Buy) have a strict policy on Apple products. If it has a problem they will bend over backwards to make it good, even tossing out the need for a sales receipt, but if you just "don't like it" and want to upgrade then you can expect a restocking fee at the Apple Store and a firm "No" from retailers like Best Buy.

  • Upgrading latest iMac 27" 5K retina from 8Gb to 16Gb

Can anyone tell me the right memory modules to buy to uprgade the latest (mid 2015) iMac Retina 5K from 8Gb to 16Gb total memory ? I presume it currently has  2 x 4Gb modules.    So presumably I need to replace them with  2 x 8Gb modules ? ....but I am not sure which type or model. Is there a memory module known to work flawlessly with it  ?? ....and the approx.cost in the UK ?? Thanks

    Hello Chris,
Thanks for contacting us . This system has four slots for RAM, so you can leave the existing and add the 16GB kit (2-8GB modules). This would be the best for the long term. The 16GB kit we are recommending can be found here:

  • Is their any other Processor better then a 2.9ghz intel core i7 that i could look into. I'm looking to make the computer faster & already upgraded the memory from 8GB to 16GB not realy noticing a difference

Is their any other Processor better then a 2.9GHZ Intel Core i7 that i could look into. I'm looking to make the computer faster & already upgraded the Ram from 8GB to 16GB and i'm really not noticing any difference actually it seems to be the same as it was before. Any help with this?

You will only notice a performance improvement if you haven't got enough RAM to use the applications you need. If you had a lot of free RAM before, you won't notice any difference now.
If you already have your computer, you can only replace the processor if you replace the logic board. Your computer requires a specific logic board, so you shouldn't replace it and you have to stay with the same processor. Apart from RAM, the only part you can upgrade is the hard drive. What will make an improvement is a SSD drive, if you haven't got one

  • O2 upgrade from 8gb to 16gb

I am considering buying a new 16gb iPhone & am a UK user on O2 currently with a 5 month old 8gb iPhone & contract.
Has anyone already done this & if so how did it work i.e. did you just swap the SIM or transfer your existing number & contract over via iPhone activation in iTunes. If the latter how has this effected your contract?
    Thanks

Hello Mate!!! I am replying to your first post that you have the 5months old 8GB phone!!
I am exactly like you i bought mine on the release date, anyways its realy simple i went to an o2 store (you can go anywere where they sell an iphone and buy the 16gb)in my case i just got it from an o2 store next to my house costed me £329, i took my old sim and placed it in the new iphone make sure you put the old sim in and just activate it on itunes when it asks you is this a new activation for a new phone ie contract ? you choose no and u choose it as late activation for an existing number then it will just upgrade the handset but not the contract, by the way i did all this with an o2 superviser on the phone they guided me step by step so i am sure about what i am telling you.
hope this is helpful enough if not just get in touch on 07809361890 am happy to help u

  • Trying to upgrade RAM from 8GB to 16GB

I purchased a brand new HP:
»HP Pavilion 17-f022ds Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)
It has 8GB RAM and im trying to upgrade to 16. Its a 64bit operating system so I know it can be and you can also purchase this laptop with 16GB of RAM. My issue is that there is no RAM cover on the bottom of the laptop like normal HP's ive owned before. Whats up with this? Im a soldier and about to deploy again and im just trying to have a faster laptop and no one has been able to help me. I would have bought the 16GB Ram laptop if I saw it at the time I bought mine.

Based on the HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide for your computer, there may only be one SODIMM slot and it may only support up to 8GB of RAM. It is also possible that the SODIMM slot(s) are not user accessible.

  • Just over 2 GB left (out of 60)...how to increase capacity?

I am definitely a music lover, and have almost filled up my 60 GB iPod, but plan to continue acquiring music and like to have it all in one place.
I always convert everything to AAC, which I understand to be the smallest format. I wonder if there are any other tricks that might free up some room (a friend suggested eliminating space between hidden tracks, which seems like a pain in the ***).
Otherwise I might just have to break down and buy the Toshiba 80 GB hard drive, but I'd like that to be a last resort.
    Ideas?

Your 80g Toshiba hd will eventually run out of room, too.
So, billy96’s idea is a good alternative. These iPods don’t last forever - see Discussions - a second iPod might be a better alternative than putting in a new hd.
    However, here is another possibility......
Add as many songs or gigs of music to iTunes as your hard drive will hold.
Make a new playlist calling it iPodPlaylist or some other appropriate name.
    Drag library onto iPodPlaylist.
Go through iPodPlaylist deleting enough music to bring its size down to fit your iPod.
Choose “Automatically update selected playlist only” from iTunes / Preferences / iPod / Music.
Choose iPodPlaylist as the Playlist to be updated
    reload your iPod.
Any time you feel like it, delete all your songs from the iPod Playlist in iTunes and then drag Library back onto iPodPlaylist - go through the procedure again eliminating enough songs from the iPodPlaylist to fit onto your iPod.
    Cheers,
    mhikl

  • Upgrading from 8GB to 16GB

I just purchased a 16 GB upgrade from OWC for my current 8 GB that came with the computer (27-inch Mid 2011 10.8.2). I agree with other discussion comments that they are extremely hard to extract and you have to be careful plugging them in. I plugged both of them in and I feel they were properly seated but the computer was dead. I took them both out and replaced them with the two 4 GB and of course everything was fine. Then I put one of the replacements in and left the 4 GB in the top slot and the computer worked fine. But I took the second 8 GB and plugged it in trying it in each of the top two slots and I got nothing. I Contacted OWC support and after I explained the steps that I had taken, they suggested returning it to be tested.  I almost want to settle for the 12 GB I have now since it has really speeded things up. Has anybody else run into this problem?

Sounds like you just got a bad module. Does OWC want you to return both modules or just the one you think is no good?
If they just want the suspected bad one back send it to them and keep running with the 12gb until they send you a replacement then install it.

  • 8GB or 16GB Memory on Macbook Pro w/ Retina?

I'm about to retire my 17" Dell laptop from 2007 and upgrade to the new 15" Macbook Pro w/ Retina.  Woo-hoo!
So here's the million dollar question...is it worth it to pay the 200 bucks to upgrade the memory from 8GB to 16GB?  I've read that Apple now solders the memory into the computer, so once I pick my memory, I'm stuck.
It's been awhile since I've used a Mac on a day-to-day basis, so I'm fairly unfamiliar with how much memory newer systems eat up.  On an average day, I expect that I won't be doing much more than my e-mail on Outlook, surfing the web in Firefox, and doing some work in Word/Excel.  For that I figure 8 GB will be more than enough.  However, on rare occassions, I might need to fire up Photoshop to do touchups on photos or maybe even a little bit of light editing in Final Cut.
So what do you think?  Will 8GB do the trick, or should I suck it up and pay the extra 2 bills to bump it up to 16?

Pay the extra $$$ to get the max RAM your mb supports.
If you're keeping it for long term, then having the extra RAM would be beneficial to you since it's not user upgradeable.
You're coming from a Dell Laptop.  Rule of thumb when using windows, the more RAM, the better your computer will run.
Since applications gets more robust when they release a newer version, they tend to be more RAM hungry.
I remember when photoshop was happy with 4GB of RAM.  Now they're happier with 8GB of RAM.
It's better ot have it for " Just in case purposes ".
    My .02 cents.

You can use iCloud with 10.7.5. You do not need to upgrade to Yosemite. You should provide a minimum of 15 GBs of free space or 10% of the hard drive's capacity, whichever is greater.
Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • How to Increase Number of Images from 500 in a LR3 Flash Gallery

I noticed people asking (and I myself needed to know) so I thought I would explain how to increase the number of images (from 500) in a Flash gallery in Light Room 3
    1. I exported a Flash gallery from LR3 and it capped the gallery at 500 images.
    2.  Because I had roughly 600 images to put in the gallery, I exported the  remaining 100 as a separate flash gallery. (Going ahead and exporting 2  galleries will save you headache in a later step)
    3. I combined  all the images folders (copying "large" images from one folder to the  "large" folder in the gallery I want to upload to my site, etc.) so that  the files are all in one location.
    4. The next step is to  increase the gallery maximum in the code. Access (from the exported  gallery) GALLERYNAME/resources/mediaGroupData/group.xml and open the group.xml file. The line of code you will be changing is <media totalGallerySize="500"> Change the 500 to the number of photos you want in the gallery.
    5.  This next step isn't too complicated, but it is specific. You know have  to tell that flash file to look for the images you just transferred to  the images folder. The best way to do this is to open the group.xml file  for the second gallery you exported. Copy all the code beginning with <item>  to the bottom of the page. This code tells the gallery to look at your  specific images (Note: you'll notice within each item the names of your  image file)
    6. Return to the (other) group.xml file of the gallery you plan to use (with all your images in it). Scroll to the bottom and erase the lines </media> and </mediagroup> becaue you will repaste them in a moment. Next, paste the copied code there.
    7. Save & check your browser!
I hope this was clear...please comment back and I'll clarify if needed.

500 images in a single gallery is too many - think of the poor viewer!
But if you must create Flash galeries with more than 500 images, you're better off editing the underlying engine - here's one link showing how to do it

You do the opposite of how you got them on your phone, you unsync the pics using iTunes.

  • How do i increase capacity in my basic memory when i have unused memory in my time machine backup??

how do i increase capacity in my basic memory when i have unused memory in my time machine backup?

No. The Time Machine backup size will increase as you use the source machine. When it nears its volume's capacity limit Time Machine will automatically delete old backups according to its algorithm. Just let it work.

  • How can I gradually increase volume from lower freq to higher freq

I did a search and did not find anything specific to this.....i found a post on how to do this from start to end of a file......but I want to do a gradual increase starting at the lower frequencies then dropping off towards the higher frequencies or vice versa....can anyone shed any light?

If you want to change the frequency response throughout either the file, or a section of it, you have to use EQ, and the easiest way to do this is to apply it in the Multitrack view. This would mean that you could use the automation system to vary paramaters whilst the track is playing. If you don't do it this way, you'll only be able to apply a preset value to whatever selection you've made (or the whole file, if you didn't make one).
But you don't want to use pitch bending or shifting!
