How to increase no. of processes
Dear friends,
I need to increase no. of processes.
Kindly anybody tell me the proces how to icrease it?
Thanx in advance.
Prashant T.
do you use a pfile or spfile, sysdba privileges are needed
to tell:
SQL> show parameter spfile
NAME TYPE VALUE
spfile string $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/spfilehmdw10.ora
if you get a value u have spfile
spfile:
alter system set processes=151 scope=spfile;
stop start db.
pfile:
edit your init.ora file parameter process=new value
stop start db.
Note: The default values of the SESSIONS and TRANSACTIONS parameters are derived from this parameter. Therefore, if you change the value of PROCESSES, you should evaluate whether to adjust the values of those derived parameters.

How to increase the per-process file descriptor limit for JDBC connection 15
If I need JDBC connection more that 15, the only solution is increase the per-process file descriptor limit. But how to increase this limit? modify the oracle server or JDBC software?
I'm using JDBC thin driver connect to Oracle 806 server.
From JDBC faq:
Is there any limit on number of connections for jdbc?
No. As such JDBC drivers doesn't have any scalability restrictions by themselves.
It may be it restricted by the no of 'processes' (in the init.ora file) on the server. However, now-a-days we do get questions that even when the no of processes is 30, we are not able to open more than 16 active JDBC-OCI connections when the JDK is running in the default (green) thread model. This is because the no. of per-process file descriptor limit exceeded. It is important to note that depending on whether you are using OCI or THIN, or Green Vs Native, a JDBC sql connection can consume any where from 1-4 file descriptors. The solution is to increase the per-process file descriptor limit.
nullmaybe it is OS issue, but the suggestion solution is from Oracle document. However, it is not provide a clear enough solution, just state "The solution is to increase the per-process file descriptor limit"
Now I know the solution, but not know how to increase it.....
pls help. -
A document with more no of sheets in it seems to work slow. Speed of processing is dull. An error message ( error code 43 ) appeared while working in pages.
Also, try holding down the Command and the R keys
during boot to get into the Recovery HD. From there
select Disk Utility and perform a Repair Pemissions
and a Repair Disk on the OSX install partition.
If that doesn't help, you may want to get some additional
test and/or repair software to check the hard disk and
other hardware. Tech Tool Pro comes to mind, as it
can run tests on various hardware aspects of the system.
Disk Warrior is another program that can test file systems
and look for file corruption. You should be able to get
these programs on line depending on where you are.
This sounds suspiciously like file corruption going on
which can be software caused or a hard disk that is
starting to go bad or just a few sectors that went bad
is some key spots.
Going back to Snow Leopard will not help if there are
are problems with the files or, hopefully not, the hard disk. -
How to increase No. of Connections in Oracle DB?
Hi,
As my team using more no. of connections, I need to increase the number of connections.
Kindly guide me to check the current number of connections and how to change / increase that?
As I don't have knowledge on this, I am looking the detailed input on this.
Kindly guide me, How to check the no. of connections in DB and how to increase that?
Thanks in advance,

As my team using more no. of connections, I need to increase the number of connections. For what type of sessions? That determines whether dedicated or shared server sessions on the Oracle server can be used. Shared server scales a lot better than dedicated servers, but requires specific factors to be taken into consideration (e.g. the move of session UGA from the PGA to the SGA, dispatchers required, etc).
For what server o/s? Windows deal differently with dedicated and shared servers (threads) as Unix/Linux (processes) do.
And why the increase in connections required by your team? Are they using the Oracle server architecture correctly from the client side?
Most 64bit Oracle severs can easily support 1000's of connections (shared server) - but the number of connections are secondary to how the clients are using their Oracle sessions. -

How to increase memory allowed for an application
Before in OS 9 and below we can expand the quantity of memory for an application, we can't do same in OS X.
OS X is able to set himself the amount of memory for an application. This seems to work but I think there is a limit sets by OS X.
My question is how to increase this amount of memory ?
I tried to increase it in terminal using "ulimit -d unlimited" but this is not working enough.
I use to do calculation with matrix systems and iterations in Mapple software but on my iMac with 4 GB of RAM memory, when application reaches 450 MB, I get a memory error message. Activity monitor at same time says there is more than 2 GB free !
Has somebody a solution to free this limit, even for a small time or for only an application ?
Thanks for your help. The full message is :
"Kernel connection has been lost. The kernel returned the following message :
Execution stopped : Memory allocation failed.
Please sea ?alloc for more detail.
You should save this worksheet and restart Maple
Executing commands in Mapple requires a connection to the Maple kernel.
Firewalls have been known to cause problems with kernel connections in Maple. Please ensure that any firewall software is configured to allow Maple to create connections to the kernel. Consul the FAQ for more information."
I checked the firewalls of OS X, they are shutdown and no restrictions seems to be set for processes.
We are expecting for a new version of Maple with some modifications due to Snow. -
How to increase the waiting time for response in Adapter Engine not in IE
Hi Experts,
It is a SOAP to Proxy Synchronous interface. SOAP system is sending the request to PI, PI sending the same request to ECC system, After execution of some logic response back to PI in 7 minutes. In ABAP Stack(sxmb_moni) processing the response message also successfully with success flag after completion of these 7 minutes. But exactly 5 minutes later getting the error at Java Stack RWB- in communication channel monitoring i.e
com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessageExpiredException: Message bd2bf8d0-b2c2-11e0-c383-001cc4fb5cb7(OUTBOUND) expired. We have set the "runtime-HTTP_TIMEOUT" parameter as 3600. thats why in Integration engine it is processing successfully.
kindly suggest me how to increase the waiting time for response in Adapter Engine. Exactly after 5 mins getting the above error in rwb, but in Integration Engine getting successful flag after 7 mins until then it is waiting for response with status flag Log version.

How to increase the files picked up by File Adaptor per poll interval
Hi,
We have a scenario where in we post 80 files in the source directory and and the file adapter is configured for every 300 sec but i have noticed that the File adaptor is picking up one or two files per poll interval. Can some please suggest how to increase the number of files picked up by File adaptor
Thank You,
NandiniNandini:
Did you mention all the files names in the Adapter channel. One thing you can do is use wild cards and file adapter picks most of them
/people/mickael.huchet/blog/2006/09/18/xipi-how-to-exclude-files-in-a-sender-file-adapter
In case if your files are huge, then I guess file size may cause to process few files during each poll -
How to increase the number of files picked up by File adaptor
Dear all,
Can any one tell me how to increase the number of files picked up by File adapter.
Pl post ASAP.
Useful answers will be appreciated accordingly.
Thanks,
SrinivasHi Srinivasa,
there is no parameter for number of files to be picked..............if you have too many source files and you want to get them processed quickly, then you can specify a very small polling interval, then XI will pick your source files quickly..........but it will cause heavy load on the XI system which can lead to blockage of messages in queues........

Actually i need to create a tabel with Basic Material(WRKST) which has length of 48 bytes.
Is there a solution on how to increase the length so that error is avoided.
There is no such error occuring while crating condition table in V/03Hi,

ThanksBest thing for you to do is read the tuning guide, found here:
http://ims.balius.com/downloads.php#tuning_guide
Please note, this site does not work with IE. It's not a Sun site, but has the best tuning guide available.
You may end up increasing maxjobs for your channels, increasing the POOL that the jobs are pulled from, etc. It's all well covered in the guide, as are some OS related tuning tips.

How to determine the Parent process information in Oracle BPMS 10g
Hi ,
I am trying to retrieve the parent process information given the instanceId and Process Id of an instance of a process from a different process.
I am getting the instanceId of the instance in workspace using the Fuego.Papi.ProcessService and by creating the Filter.
I tried using the ProcessInstance.parent but it needs to be instantiated using the instance details of my referred instance, which i am not able to do.
Can some one shed some light on how to get the parent process details from the referred instance.
Thanks,
shravan.Hi,
If you mean to increase the request timeout i.e the time when a request is submitted to the server and the response is sent by the server it can be done in httpd.conf file located in $OracleHome/Apache/Apache/conf directory.
The attribute to be used for setting timeout is "Timeout". By default teh value is 600 seconds i.e 5 minutes.
After making these changes , run command dcmctl updateConfig -ct OHS and restart the HTTP Server. Please note these commands need to be run only if the httpd.conf changes are done through text editor.
Hope this helps.

How to increase the number of data Business Object can pull for a report?
Hi,
I would like to ask around how to increase the number of data Business Object can pull for a report. I have a report which pulls data depending on the date range (ex. From 01/01/2007 - 01/10/2007). But, when the data that is pulled exceeds 5000, the report fails. Is there anyway to increase the number of data that BO can pull?
ThanksBobby,
to my knowledge we can't change that. Let me explain this, we have setting in the source system for DS default Data Transfer. there we will assign the processes. if you want to assign 4 you need to change the setting in the source system. For flat files we can change in BW System. We can maintain the setting in the Infopackage level(wht we are assigned in the Source System), but we can't change the process.
in order to check the setting in source system SBIW--> General Settings --> Control Parameters for Data Transfer.
we need to change here, this will effect to all the Data Sources. Before making changes check with your basis.
All the best.

Edited by: bg57295 on Mar 24, 2010 6:45 PMHi Bharath,
Believe me, you have an incompatibility between different build#.
PAPI has an instance cache. When certain process has more instances than the maximum specified, the cache is switch to status OPEN. That means, that PAPI will not be able to resolve some instance queries using the information in the cache. When that occurs, PAPI forward all those queries to the engine.
The incompatibility introduced is in the communication between PAPI and Engine. So, you only get the exception when you have more instances than the maximum cache size.

Ariel
