How to initiate a Lync call on mobile client from desktop?

Hi All,
I've go Lync 2013 enterprise voice setup and working lovely. Also have Lync mobile clients working great too.
I want to get rid of my desk phone, well, because it'd be cool and save the company money of course.
I want to be able to initiate calls on my Lync mobile client from my Lync desktop client. Is that possible?
Cheers
James

You can't really, as the mobile client can't be paired with better together. There are some instances where you kind of can, such as when starting a conference call you can have it call out to your mobile number, but this isn't really initiating a call.
You can still get rid of your desk phone, I'd just suggest using your desktop client to make the call with a headset.  I will occasionally just use my iPhone headset, there are cheap 2.5mm headset to PC adapters out there.  And of course you can
initiate the call with your mobile, but the experience isn't as smooth is all.

Huff. Sad times. Oh well. Surely someone at Microsoft has thought of this scenario too?
I didn't ever find that GSM gateway unfortunately. We migrated from Avaya IP Office so could have used that but decided to go full Lync and accept the additional cost of the mobile calls.

    Hi,
You can use Printshare app on your tablet. I believe you have to pay a small amount for it:

  • How do i make websites think my mobile is a desktop?

How do i make websites think my mobile is a desktop? I cant stand those sites where it forces you to view the "mobile version" i want Firefox to automatically tell them its a "desktop" not a "mobile" so that i can go to any site without changing anything but the FULL website.
    Thank you.

Open the add-ons screen (see [[How do I find and install Add-ons?]]) and search for the "Phony" add-on. This will let you tell websites that you're using a desktop version.

  • How to restrict users working on Windows 7 clients from accessing Windows Explorer and other systems in the network through Group Policy with a domain controller running on Windows Server 2008 r2

    Dear All,
We are having an infrastructure setup of around 500 client computers managed through group policy.
Recently the domain controllers have been migrated from Windows Server 2003 to Server 2008 R2.
Since this account requires extremely strict environment, we need to figure the solution for restricting the users from access anything locally.
It would be great if you can assist me with the following query.
How to restrict users logged on Windows 7 clients from accessing Windows Explorer and browsing other systems in the network through Group Policy with a domain controller running on Windows Server 2008 r2 ?
Can we disable Network Tab on the left hand pane ?
explorer.exe is blocked already, but users are able to enter the Windows Explorer by clicking on the name which is visible on the Start Menu.

You cannot block explorer.exe when you do not replace the shell - the
desktop you see effectively IS explorer.exe...
Your requirement sounds like you need a custom shell:

  • Calling SAP GUI Client from a Java Webdynpro app.

    Hello experts,
We would like to call the SAP GUI client from a java WebDynpro application running without portal or ITS. Can it be done by having a web link, with mime registration in internet explorer to kick off the SAP GUI ? (similar behavior with a SAP favorite link saved on the desktop).
    many Thanks.

    Hi,
    Webdynpro possibilities:
    1. You can try to use LinkToUrl.
with reference to file://<exefile> or your weblink with the mime type (possibly some java coding can be required; I can try to help).
    2. other option is to use IFrame and you can use either href to your exe or weblink
    Web Explorers:
    1. IE: It should work. if you point to exe file popup window will be displayed asking for action (run, save, cance).
    2. Firefox: the only way I know to make it work is to modify nsHelperAppDlg.js file (if you need Firefox I can tell you how to modify the file).
    Kind Regards, Jack

  • How do I verify that bookmarks are sync'ed from Desktop Fx29 to Android Fx 29 ?

I have installed Fx 29 on my Android cell phone and on my WinXP/Ubuntu 14.04 Laptop.
I sync from the Desktop to the Mozilla server and , then, from Mozilla servers to my Mobile Android Fx.
The whole process is completely opaque. I.e. I don't see a progress bar or anything that shows the process being conducted.
After that I look for my bookmarks on my Android mobile Fx.... I cannot find them.
What I am doing wrong ?
    Cheers,
    -ced

Sorry to hear that Seething Sage.
It sems that Sync is not what mozilla.org wants it to be just yet. I have gotten some attention with my 2 or 3 posts on the matter. 2 were definitely a little on the hot side of cool and I regret that, but in the end I was referred to the same 2 or 3 old stickies on how to sync and a pretty video extolling the beauty of the new Sync and ... have gotten exactly 0 solution so far.
I can sync now (after dwiddling endlessly with the thing) between my Lx desktop and my Android mobile, but there is nothin' doin' for Sync between my Win-xp desktop and the server, even though I have the same set up for Fx 29.x under both Win and Lx boots....
I will report on how long it takes to propagate a sync change from one platform to another, so you may have something to comprare your case to. Stay tuned.
For the rest, I remain stumped. Cheers.

  • How to initiate a phone call w/ edge?

    i tried this:
    function call() {
        window.location.href = 'tel:555-678-1234';
    and this:
    <a href="tel:8005551212">800-555-1212</a>

It looks like your basic format is right. You may want to include a plus sign and/or area code for your phone to trigger it.
    see : http://demosthenes.info/blog/536/Adding-Phone-Numbers-To-Web-Pages-With-HTML5-&-Microdata
However, the success and implementation depends on what you're trying to do and on what device/platform.
First, you'll need to actually call the function you're defining. So you'll use call(); after defining your function the way you did above. I do recommend renaming it though to something like callTele so it doesn't get confused with the built in method "call" accidentally.
That would auto start the call whenever the browser code flow got to that call.
Or do it on a click event for example. Just having the function or html anchor tag there won't do anything.
    Use something like this to activate it on click : sym.getComposition().getStage().callTele();
You'll probably want to put the original function in CompositionReady on the Stage code (document ready).
Then associate the telephone function with an event within Animate, you may need to do something like create a click event on the symbol.
Lastly, you device needs to support the html5 feature. If it doesn't it won't work. try surfing some sites to see if your test device supports it. Many older desktop browsers don't either.

  • How can I refresh a calling page on return from a TF activity ?

    Hi,
I have a (sounds easy) case where a view activity invokes a BTW with fragments. The called BTF has been declared with isolated data control scope. Inside the BTF some updates happen and when the BTF returns the calling view should display the modified data. The BTF should not be opened as a dialog and the above take place inside a region. There are examples in the Internet for how to implement such case but only calling a taskflow with pages from a dialog.
I tried creating first the Taskflow binding definition [19.10.1 How to Associate a Page Definition File with a Task Flow Activity|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35521_01/web.111230/e16182/taskflows_activities.htm#sthref539] , then I set the related operations (Execute, setCurrentRowWithKey, ...) in the Page Definition and invoke the operations inside the “After Listener” Listener (<after-listener>) of the taskflow activity but the binding context is not accessible inside the listener, I get NPE accessing the binding.
After some tests I have found that I can call the Operations using “#data.taskflowdefinition..” but I afraid using this technique because of so many papers stating that this is a bad practice.
Additionally I tested using an invokeAction in the calling page definition page and it works but I prefer “refreshing” the model from the activity (there are many pages calling the same activity).
I am wondering if there is a more elegant solution that I haven’t seen yet.
    Thanks for any ideas,
    Yiannis

Hi Timo and thank you for your reply,
As far as I know any method executed in the BTF has no effect in the calling page because of the isolated data control scope.
Consider the following layout of a very simple TF diagram. The BTF has "Share data controls with calling task flow" unchecked and "Always begin new transaction"
View --> Method Call --> BTF
Now imagine that a user navigates from the View to the BTF, make updates and finally commits the transaction from a taskflow return activity. The updates are executed inside the "private" BTF's data control scope because of the BTF settings.
Returning to the calling View the user sees stale data from the Data Control of the View, until he re-queries the model.
ADF supports execution of code during the call of the BTF (through Method Call) and also sending and returning parameters from the View to the BTF.
Conversely on return from the BTF there is no handler for executing code (something like "Return Method Call") in order to refresh (e.g. re-query and set current row) the View exploiting the return parameters.
The "After Listener" in the taskflow call activity has not access to the bindings context. Using #{data.bindingTFXXX} I guess that has a risk in a high availability environment for NPE where the http call to the BTF might be processed in a different server than the returning http call so the #{data.bindingTFXXX} might not exists.
The other solution I found using invokeAction with RefreshCondition depends on the returning values of the BTF, bloats the View with Bindings that I would prefer to be in a central place.
Am i missing something in the whole flow above ?

  • How to upload image in windows azure mobile service from android?

I am new in android I am using windows azure mobile service and I am Inserting Text data successfully but now I want to Upload Image in windows azure mobile service. I know its is possible by Azure Storage I have seen this chrisrisner post but
its confusing can anyone tell me simple step by step process to save image in windows azure mobile service.
I will be Very Grateful for you. its very urgent

    Hello Nitesh,
Saving an image into Azure Mobile Services doesn't scale very well and it's not recommended. It's recommended to use Azure Blob Storage for blob storage. It's cheaper and can store larger files.
You can definitely use both Azure Mobile Services and Blob Storage together by saving the name of the image in your Mobile Services table and storing the actual file in the Blob storage. This way when you need to retrieve the actual image, you would retrieve
it by it's name from Blob storage.
Here's a MSDN article that explains how to use
    Azure Blob Storage.
Let me know if this helps.

    Hi all
I need to run a script from desktop for an automation.

You can put the script in a trusted location then double-clicking it will work. This came up recently. I've not tried the search of the forums yet, but a search on trusted location might bring that previous topic up.
