How to insert Definite Integral symbol?
Hi there, I'm trying to input a definite integral symbol where I can type in the lower and upper limits. I've only found the basic integral symbol under edit > special characters.
Thanks!
orikie
As has already been pointed out there is no difficulty obtaining a definite integral sign if you use MathType.
In fact, when you click on the appropriate symbol in MathType's packed toolbar you will discover that most types of definite integrals are catered for - not just the simplest: (in words) the integral of F(x)dx from x equals a to x equals b.
As for the positioning of the limits, you can adjust their vertical positions relative to the integral sign by experimenting with Sizes. NB assign everything whose sizes you dont to vary to a size assigned as per "Other" Also, if you wish, you can also move them sideways to suit.

How to insert a greek symbol like "alfa" and "beta" in Pages 5.0
How do I insert a greek symbol like "alfa" or "beta" in Pages 5.0
The same way you would in any other OS X app... there are various keyboard shortcuts for common letters (e.g. Ω is 'alt-z'), but if you are not sure what they are there are two quite simple solutions.
Both require you go to "Keyboard Prefernces" in "System Preferences" on your computer and put a tick in the box "Show keyboard and character viewer in menu bar".
Once you have done this, you get an extra menu item that gives you access to two OS X utilities - "Character Viewer" and "Keyboard Viewer"
Character viewer opens a window that allows you to look for specific characters, copy them and paste them into your document. It is very powerful, and probably overkill for what you want. But worth knowing about.
Keyboard viewer is a floating window that shows you what OS X thinks each key will produce when you type it. It adjusts itself to match whatever language / keyboard you are using, and shows immediately the effect of pressing the adjuster keys. Here is the viewer showing what happens when you press the alt key...

I am trying to insert the copyright symbol into the home page of my website, I am using Mr Site Pro software, on windows it is 0169 but this does'nt work on the imac, can anyone help?
Or you can try option (alt or ⌥) + G to type ©.
For future reference, enable the keyboard viewer;
System Preferences > Language and Text > Input Sources tab. Top of the left column, tick (check) "Keyboard and Character Viewer", Bottom of window next to search field, tick "Show input menu in menu bar"
System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard tab; tick "show keyboard and character viewers in menu bar"
All the standard diacritical marks and common symbols can be accessed directly from the standard keyboard. ü is produced by pressing alt (option) + U, release them and type U. Similarly é is alt+e, followed by e.
If you open Keyboard Viewer and press the alt (option) key, the location of the marks will be revealed. Note that five of them are highlighted in orange; these are the ones which can be used with multiple letters (acute, umlaut, gràve, circumflex and tilde)
Shift+Alt will show more.
These are the results of holding down option and shift+option for a standard UK keyboard (US is similar, but a few keystrokes are reversed)

How to insert a math symbol in a pages document
I have a nonstandard math symbol to insert inot a pages document. Please explain how to do it.
If it is really non-standard, like not in Unicode, then you would have to use an image. For things in Unicode, try an app like Cymbol or search the app store for "equation".

How to insert check mark symbol on ipad
I use the Apple keyboard/charger w/ iPad2, and wondering if there's a way to insert a check mark symbol in Notes either w/ the hardware keyboard or the touch screen keyboard
I don't see a checkmark on the touchscreen keyboard, even by holding down on the keys to bring up the optional symbols. You can go here and copy and paste. You have to go onto this site while using the iPad. You could bookmark it for easier access.
http://mrgan.com/gb/
You may find this a useful reference for the touchscreen keyboard as well.

Using a variable for Lesson Title: How do I insert an alt symbol (TM)?
HI All,
I am using a project variable to diplay the title in small sub-titles on each page of a Cap4 module. But....I need to insert a trademark symbol after one of the names in the title. Does anyone know how I can insert a symbol when defining a variable?
Thanks in advance!Hello
I just tried this, and seems to work:
created a Text Caption, with the Symbol button you can insert the Trademark symbol
copied the text to the clipboard
created a user variable v_title
in the value of the variable pasted the copied text
Here is a screenshot: first text caption has the variable, second was the original TC (you do not really to have it on a slide of course)

How to insert symbols in the latest version of Keynote
I am a long time user of Keynote 09 and long time inserter of symbols using Edit>Special Characters. It used to be that you could insert a character/symbol from any font on your machine. However, I can no longer figure out how to get a character from something like Apple Symbols. Does anyone have any idea how to see the full list of every character available in a selected font and insert it into a Keynote presentation?
Hi Tom, and everyone else. I've just switched from keynote '09 to 6.5.2 (2119). I'm slowing working things out, but I can use some help with this:
I like the futura font, but the question mark is bizarre. I used to be able to use edit/'special characters' to insert a question mark from a different font, but I'm now having trouble with that. I expand out the pop-up menu and go to punctuation (or punctuation - all). The first row, fourth column gives me a question mark. Double-click selecting it gives me a '?' in the futura font, as expected. I go to 'font variation' - that's what I want. But all of these give me the same futura font!
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,
larry
(If I go to 'related characters', I can get 'double', 'small' or 'full width' marks. "Full width" looks different from the futura font, but it includes a big blank area to the right of the character, so I stick with the original "question mark".) -

How to insert new service condition in PO using BAPI_PO_CHANGE?
Hi all,
I'm trying to insert a new condition under a service line in a PO. This can be seen in ME23N under the services tab of the PO item. Then click on conditions (the button with the dollar and yen symbol).
I tried using the internal table POCOND and POCONDX. But these tables update the conditions of the PO item itself and not the service conditions. In ME23N this is the conditions tab of the PO item.
build condition item table
wa_conditem-change_id = 'I'.
wa_conditem-itm_number = wa_items-po_item.
wa_conditem-cond_type = c_condtypz.
wa_conditem-cond_value = l_plndisamt.
wa_conditem-currency = l_poheader-currency.
APPEND wa_conditem TO it_conditem.
CLEAR wa_conditem.
build condition item change parameter table.
wa_conditemx-itm_number = wa_items-po_item.
wa_conditemx-itm_numberx = 'X'.
wa_conditemx-cond_type = 'X'.
wa_conditemx-cond_value = 'X'.
wa_conditemx-currency = 'X'.
wa_conditemx-change_id = 'X'.
APPEND wa_conditemx TO it_conditemx.
CLEAR wa_conditemx.
CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_PO_CHANGE'
EXPORTING
purchaseorder = wa_ekpo_u-ebeln
TABLES
return = it_return
poitem = it_poitem
poitemx = it_poitemx
pocond = it_conditem
pocondx = it_conditemx
EXCEPTIONS
OTHERS = 1.
I tried using the internal tables POCONDHEADER and POCONDHEADERX but this doesn't seem to insert anything.
Can anyone guide me how to insert a new service condition?
thanks,
ShafiqFound a SAP note 499626 quoted below. So it seems that it's not possible to use BAPI_PO_CHANGE.
"Can I create or change conditions on the service level with BAPI_PO_CREATE1 or BAPI_PO_CHANGE?
Answer:
Such a function is currently not available."
Anybody know any FM to do this?

KabeerHi,
Use {code} tags to post formatted code on the forum.
That way, your code will be more readable for everyone, and more importantly here, everyone will be able to clearly see what's bothering you :
'sThe single quote was encoded with the character entity reference "'".
The conversion is not mandatory but it happens Oracle is doing it in this case.
It shouldn't be a problem though.
If you want to extract the value afterwards, it'll come as expected :

SQL> insert into ftr_ctl values (1,

Insert Greek Pi Symbol (or any character) with keyboard
Among other non-standard characters, I especially need to insert the Greek Pi symbol into many CS5.5 documents, especially Illustrator.
I want to use the keyboard inserting these characters, rather than needing to use the several steps involved with using the Glyphs Pallet and/or cut & paste each time the character is repeated.
I cannot find a documentation explaining how to insert this Greek Pi character, and other non-standard characters.
I'm absolutely sure the many font-sets I'm using include the symbol(s) I want, but ALT+0960 does not work (produces └). I've looked for other keystrokes, and tried zillions, but I cannot nail-down how to insert this Greek Pi symbol into CS5 documents.
I'm hoping the Adobe community can point to clear documentation explaining how to understand inserting this Greek Pi symbol, and other non-standard characters using the keyboard.Not all fonts have pi included as a symbol; so first you must know or inspect a font to find it and a character viewer program will show you if it is there and the keyboard shortcut...may be different in different fonts
Windows includes a character viewer/map program....there are many free ones; search via google...like Babel map
And don't forget about the glyphs panel in Illy. -
