How to instal camera raw in mac
Hi, I'd be obliged if someone could advise me how to instal camera raw 8 into an imac.
many thanks
If you have Photoshop CS6 or higher, you already have Adobe Camera Raw 8. What you want is to update ACR to version 8.6. You can do that automatically through the Help > Updates menu item.
If you have a lower version of Photoshop, you cannot run any version of ACR 8.x.
If you don't have Photoshop at all, then you need to buy it first.
For the next time you post, please give explicit, detailed information:
BOILERPLATE TEXT:
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them, etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster).
A screen shot could be very helpful too.
Please read this FAQ for advice on how to ask your questions correctly for quicker and better answers:

How to install Camera Raw?
I've just finished building a PC (Win7 Pro 64 bit) and have many Adobe products running. I've just tried to download and install Camera Raw. The file "camera Raw 4_6.zip" downloads. But now what? I can execute it and get the file "Camera Raw.8bi". I can also unzip it and get the same file. What is the next step? None of the Adobe install help files address the issue apparently.
You should be able to go to Help>Updates in photoshop or photoshop elements 12 and that should get you all the available updates including the newest camera raw 8.5
(camera raw 4.6 is way out of date)
For lightroom 5 it depends on which version you have (perpetual versus creative cloud subscription)
For subscription open the creative cloud application and lightroom 5.5 should be listed as an update.
Is that photoshop 6 or photoshop cs6? -
How to install Camera Raw 8.0 into Photoshop CC 14.2.1
I have just installed PS CC 14.2.1 and was used to, when I open a jpegs in PS, it immediately opens in Camera Raw, which I like.
I tried to install Camera Raw, but the Application Manager Application Manager keeps on informing me that the patch is not applicable for me.
Is there a specific setting that I can make to change this feature that all the jpegs immediately open in RAW?
ThanksPlease try installing it manually from patcher @

How to install Camera RAW update for Photoshop CS3?
I know this is an ancient version! But for now it's all I need. Anyway...
My Adobe Updater says "No Internet connection. Please check your Internet settings and/or firewall. Waiting for connection..." That's the first problem. I figured out how to manually update Photoshop and Bridge, but Adobe Updater still shows this message when trying to check for updates. Also, I've tried to update Camera Raw from 4.0 to 4.6 and I can't figure out how to manually install it. I knkow the website says to do the following:
Mac:
Exit Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Bridge.
Open the Finder.
Navigate to the root of the local disk (not the user’s home folder).
Navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats.
Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensureyou keep this version in case you need to revert back.
Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in Step 4.
Launch Photoshop CS3 or Adobe Bridge.
I manually entered "Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats" and it says this folder doesn't exist. Can anyone help me update my camera raw?!

How to install Camera RAW 8.4
I just downloaded Camera RAW 8.4 (from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5739) and installed it. There's not much to it. No real settings to do in the installer. Yet, it doesn't properly install. Photoshop CC says it's still at CR 8.3, and Lightroom still complains it needs CR 8.4 in order to edit a photo in Photoshop. It's installed, definately. The DNG Converter is working, too.
So my situation is this:
Windows 7 x64
Photoshop CC (with CR8.3, apparently)
Lightroom 5.4
Camera RAW 8.4 installed
All applications have been freshly updated about half an hour ago.
So how do I get Photoshop to use CR8.4 instead of 8.3?Hi All,
Please provide me with a snapshot from Ps->Help->Update->Preferences.
Please confirm your ACR version from Help->About Plugin->Camera Raw and provide us with the following logs.
You can find them at:
ACR Installer logs
For Mac:
Library\Logs\Adobe\Installer
For Win:
Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers
AAM logs
For Mac:
/Volumes/%Volume Name%/Users/%Username%/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdater/1.0
For Win:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater
You can zip all the files together and send us through mail. This would help us in finding the root cause.
Appreciate your help. Apologize for the inconvenience.
Regards,
Ashutosh

This is all I could find:

How to install Camera Raw 6.7 for Photoshop CS6 Beta?
I tried; it installed for CS5 only (exactly what I didn't want it to do). I don't see where the app/plugins are stored on the computer, so I haven't tried to manually fix it.
I'd like to have my old version of ACR back for CS5, and to be able to use the new one in CS6 beta.
Thank you!Hello!
You cannot install 6.7 in CS6. It is specific for CS5.
If you are interested by the additional camera support, I suggest that you convert a copy of the files with the DNG converter 6.7 until Camera Raw will be updated.
If your camera manufacturer supported DNG as a native raw format, you would not have this issue. (And I can't imagine what the ACR/Lightroom and other teams would come with with the time they would win thanks to that.) -
hi guys two days later I installed photoshop cs6 and updated my camera raw plugin but i was unable to see that plugin in my filters. pls any one help me to get rid of that ................

How do I install camera raw 4.6 (for Nikon D90) in Elements 6 for a Mac?
I need to install camera raw 4.6 (for Nikon D90) plug-in on Elements 6 for at Mac? I'ved downloaded the plug-in but it does not seem to work. I've got Elements 10 on my desktop Mac but I am using Elements 6 on an older iBook G4. Any help will be appreciated. thanks.
For PSE 6, get the .plugin out of the download, then go to your hard drive>library>Application Support>Adobe>plug-ins>file formats and remove the old plug-in, then put just the new .plugin file in there instead. Older versions of PSE can't update ACR from the help menu the way PSE 10 can.

I have a CS4 and would like to install Camera Raw 8.6. How do i do it?
I have a CS4 and would like to install Camera Raw 8.6. How do i do it? The reason being in LR5 when I want to edit the images in Photoshop Layers, the message comes that I need to install Camera Raw 8.6 for compatibility. Even
After installing Camera Raw 8.6 I am unable to install the plugin in CS4. Please advice.Camera Raw 8.6 is only compatible with Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC. There is no way for you to install it in Photoshop CS4. The message you are receiving means that you need Camera Raw 8.6 to have full compatibility with Lightroom 5. But in that message you are given the option to edit a copy that includes the Lightroom adjustments. That is the option that you should use. Lightroom will create a copy (PSD or TIF, depending on your choice in Lightroom preferences) and will send that copy to Photoshop CS4. Then you can use Photoshop and all of its features to continue editing your image. When you close and save the image in Photoshop, it will appear in your Lightroom folder along with the original raw file.
Another option you could use would be to use the free Adobe DNG converter to create DNG (digital negative) copies of your raw files. Those DNG files would be compatible with the Photoshop that you have now. Your other option would be to upgrade your Photoshop. -

How do you install Camera Raw 8.3 to CS5 photoshop so I can open files? Thanks
CS5 does not support ACR 8.5, it only goes as far as 6.7.
You will need to convert your raw files to DNG format with the free converter. http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/digital-negative.html
