How to install a recovery partition

After installing 10.10.1 - 14B25 I no longer have a recovery partition. The OS X 10.10.1 works fine but I am lost on how to add a recovery partition. Some help on how to after the fact create an OS X 10.10 .1 recovery partition will be appreciated. I failed to save the 10.10 installer

BINGO.... I downloaded the full installer 5 GB and ran it over my 10.10.1 Macintosh HD with no Recover Partition. Bingo, I now have my primary HD back with an updated 10.10.1 Recover Partition

I though your assessment was correct; however, it worked for me and I did NOT have to erase my Macintosh HD
All is well again and it was a time consuming learning experience and I now have a 10.10.1 Recovery Partition

I recently swapped out hard drives and when I did a Time Machine backup to the new drive, I noticed there was no Recovery HD partition for my drive. Is there a way to install it back on my MacBook Pro (Late 2011, running 10.7.4)?
On a slighlty different topic FileVault won't let me encrypt my new HD it says "Some disk formats don’t support the recovery partition required by encryption. To use encryption, reinstall this version of Mac OS X on a reformatted disk."
What formatting does my disk require for FV to be turned on? Currently it is Mac OS Extended (journaled)
If there is a solution to solve both these issues, or any one issue it would be appreciated.

The formatting being referred to is actually the presence of the Recovery Disk.
You can't enable FV2 without a recovery partition being present. The reason is strictly logical: if your entire disk was encrypted, how could you run the unencryption procedure you need to start up? That would itself be hidden behind the encryption. Hence, for FV2 to be able to work, you must have a Recovery disk present.
When you boot up with FV2 enabled, the login screen you see to enter your password is actually running from the recovery disk (invisible to the user). After you enter your password, recovery boots your encrypted partition and logs you in to your account.

How to put a recovery partition on the hard drive

How can I create a recovery partition on the hard drive of my laptop. I had to reinstall the whole system, and tried to use the HP recovery software they sent me but it quit when it was about three quarters the way finished. I had to use a copy of windows 8 to put the system back on my laptop. After I got it all straighten out, I updated it to windows 8.1 and it seems like the computer runs a lot faster with windows 8.1 on it. Now I need to find away to install a recovery partition on my hard drive.

A Recover partition is something the factory places on the computer. It is an image of the factory installation and the software required to restore the computer to a factory like state using that image. You will not be able to create a Recovery partition on your computer unless you use the HP Recovery Discs to return the computer to a factory like state. Please note the HP Recovery Discs and the resulting HP Recovery partition will only contain an image of Windows 8 that cannot be updated to reflect the installation of Window 8.1.
My suggestion is to use the Windows "System Image Backup" utility to create an exact image of the Windows 8.1 partition as it currently is. If your computer developes an issue or you need to replace the hard drive, all you have to do is "restore" the image to the computer. You will need to use an external USB hard drive or other media to store the image. Please see Windows 8.1 Tip: Use System Image Backup for instructions on creating and storing a "Windows - System Image Backup."

How to install Onekey Recovery Boot System

Hello,
A month ago, I bought new Lenovo G460. The unit have Onekey Recovery button that can make you boot to Onekey Recovery System (have own partition)
Yesterday, I recovered my Windows 7 and it was failed. Suddenly, all my Recovery System partition gone..
Can someone help me how to get the application and how to install on that partition?

If no recovery discs were created, you can obtain them from Toshiba.

If you are using Oracle8i, make sure your compatibility is set to at least 8.1.0 and you are connected to the catalog database. Then type create catalog; at the RMAN command line.

How to boot service/recovery partition after a Windows 7 install

Does anyone knows how to restore the boot feature of the service / recovery partition ?
I did a Windows 7 RC install and it seems to have disable booting to the recovery partition. I can see that both the SERVICEV003 and Lenovo partition are still there.

How To Get My Recovery Partition as i got by default

I had made Partition of My C Driver into 2 partition and My Recovery Partition is unaffected. Now I tried To install WIndows 8 Pro and its successfully installed.
Now My Problem is My Recovery Drive (D is as usaual it shows Free and used Size of drive But when i click to show inside drive is Shows dirve is Emptly.
Then after i Installed Windows 7 Home as its was come with factory. and register my windows 7 but still i am not getting Recovery drive as i got be default.
Can You please help me ?

When you first setup your computer, your should have created a set of Recovery Discs as recommended by HP. If your computer is still functional and the recovery partition (D: drive) is still intact, you can attempt to set to the "D:" drive as "Active" using the Windows Disk Management console and rebooting the computer. If you are lucky the HP Recovery Manager will boot and guide you through recovering your computer to a factory like state.
If not, you will need to order a set of HP Recovery Discs from HP or third party vendor ComputerSurgeons.com

How to delete lion recovery partition

i have mac book air 13inch with 128g hdd
when i install lion, it creats lion recovery partition on my HDD
and it does not clear out and stays all the time
i want to delete the lion recovery partition and make my HDD united to only one partition
how can i do this?
it there any way to do this?

You could, but not recommended. The recovery partition is
there so that you can repair or re-install Lion if necessary.
I don't recall, but I think some people have had issues with
some Mac models booting Lion if a Recovery HD is not
present. Not sure if the Air is one.
First, to be safe, you should probably make a USB stick
installer or DVD for Lion should things go south on you and
have to reinstall from scratch.
Next,the simplest approach would be to clone your Lion
install to an external, bootable hard drive using either
Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. When that is
complete boot to that volume then reformat the internal
volume, then clone the external volume back.
Don't interrupt any of the processes or you could
end up with a MacBrick.

How to recover deleted "Recovery Partition"

Ok so I apologize in advance if this story is a bit long, and horrifying (actually it's probably entertaining xD). I purchased the Lenovo y510p gaming laptop on back on July 14th 2014. I got the laptop, and it just didn't work for me. It didn't play the games I wanted it to, it had overheating issues, the keyboard had a really sharp edge making typing uncomfortable as well. After installing Sony Vegas and Avast, and just shifting some of my personal photos/music over, I made a backup of the laptop using the OneKey Recovery software. This backup was made to one of my 500GB external hard drives. So I then decided that I just didn't like the laptop, and it was time to return it. I called Newegg, and got my RMA all ready to go. Because I had lot of my personal files and programs, I decided the fastest way to delete everything would be to use the OneKey Recovery by Lenovo, and do a factory reset. At the time, I didn't think anything of this then simply putting the laptop back to exactly how I got it. I even booted it up after the factory reset, and it looked just like the first day I got it. Fast forward 2 weeks, and my RMA is denied from Newegg: Your RMA (RMA Number: 60470880) return was received and sent to our Inspections Department for closer examination. 34-313-740 NB LENOVO IDEAPAD Y510P 59406636 RTSystem has been modified/altered original manufacturers operating system has been removed cannot access restore partition, this voids Newegg warranty. Unit cannot be accepted or resold as received. So I was completely shocked as to how I had managed to delete the recovery partition, I didn't modify the OS in anyway, and I phoned Newegg to check what was going on. They confirmed that the tech people at the returns department could not reset the laptop properly, because the recovery partition had been deleted. So, the laptop is being shipped back to me this week, and my question was what on earth could I do to recover this "deleted recovery partition?" If the OneKey Recovery still works, I don't see why it woudn't, then I can restore the backup that I made on my external hard drive from Day 1. That should bring back this alleged "recovery partition" that's been causing all hell to break loose lol. If however, I can't access that OneKey Recovery, I believe I'm in a huge pile of trouble. Newegg said that if I can manage to recovery that lost "recovery partition" then they will honor my RMA and refund my money. At this point in time, I'm trying to salvage my situation, and think and act quickly as Newegg does have a 30day only return policy. I didn't do much with the laptop when I had it other than test a few games, so I honestly have NO IDEA how I could've deleted the recovery partition. But I'm not thinking of that anymore, and thinking ahead as to how I can recovery this deleted "recovery partition." Thanks for reading this horror story, and I really appreciate any responses.

The first thing I'll do is go into Disk management to see if the recovery drives are there. Tbh, I doubt Newegg would purposely rip me off, so I'm expecting the drives to be missing. If they're not however, I'm taking pictures and probably dancing because I'll be so happy haha. If the drives are NOT there, I'll see if I can load up OneKey Recovery, and restore my backup, and go from there. Also yes I'm sure I bought it from Newegg, no third parties. @neok- That's exactly what I was thinking! I did the OneKey Recovery, then packed the laptop up and sent it for shipping. Then I get a RMA denied and I was completely shocked. That made me wonder if you could only do the OneKey Recovery once maybe, but I contacted Lenovo and they gave me a letter, written, saying what the OneKey software does. I then forwarded this email to the supervisor at Newegg, but she told me that the fact of the matter is that the "recovery partition" is not accesible anymore, and they're not honoring my RMA unless I retreive it. They were very adament about this. Also thanks for those links, I did a few Google searches myself and those are generally what I found. The reoccuring theme in those cases seems to be people resizing their partitions. I did not do that, simply played a few games, didn't like the laptop, did a factory reest, and boom. That's all I did. If I'm unable to use OneKey Recovery when I get the laptop back this upcoming Friday, I'll consult with those links. Thanks! @Zoltan- Yeah honestly I want to be furious with Newegg, but then seeing as they're really quite strong on their grounds that I somehow deleted it, I'm trying to think back to what I did. However, I find it hard to believe that I would delete the recovery partition, even accidently, because I only had the laptop for a day, and all I was really doing was transferring my photos/music, and installing a few programs. My desperate last attempt to salvage my money will be calling Lenovo and requesting the recovery media, even if it costs $60 or up. The only problem with this is that they might take a while to ship the disc. I only have until around August 14th before Newegg's 30day return policy kicks in, although I spoke with the Newegg supervisor, and she granted me 1-2 days of grace. I could order the CD right now, before I even get the laptop shipped to me, but that's risky seeing as I might not need it at all, if I can still access the OneKey Recovery. The more I think about it though, if I explain my entire situation to Lenovo, they might send me a free CD which I could then order right now, saving me a few days, and serving as more of a precaution then anything. Thanks so much for the replies guys, last Friday was the most stressful day of my life, this RMA was denied, and then I thought about it all day at work. I think I could've been more aggressive with Newegg, but I have no real legal documentation to show them. I mean yes even if I did delete the recovery partition, which I didn't, but let's suppose I did. Deleting software is still not any means for flat out rejecting an RMA, and refusing to refund $1300. Install from Recovery partition after upgrade from 10.9

Hi all, on my MacBook 13" nov. 2012 I upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite using the standard upgrade.
After a couple of days I decided to perform a clean install:
- formatted "Macintosh HD Partition"
- rebooted with cmd+R
- reinstalled from recovery partition.
Is this really a clean install or my recovery partition contains pieces of the old Mavericks?

You performed a clean install of OS X Yosemite.
You were in the Yosemite Recovery HD.
You erased the Macintosh HD which erases the previous OS install, user accounts and data files -- everything! Then you reinstalled JUST OS X Yosemite.

How to recreate my recovery partition?

I was installing Windows using Parallels and not BootCamp.
The install failed and when I went to check my drive, my recovery partition was missing.
Should I just re-download Maverick and do a re-install?

Windows 10 clean install - Delete Recovery Partition

Hi, I upgraded my Yoga 2 to Windows 10 last week. Unfortunaltely, I am experiencing some issues. Sometimes I cannot see any differences between the buttons of the Quck Settings (former Charm Bar). All buttons have the same color whether they are activated or not. The Start Bar does not work probably either. Most of the time I cannot delete or add icons. I delte them but they do not disappear. I have to restart Windows to do this.I though about doint a clean new install using an USB drive and an external Keyboard with Touchpad via an USB hub. I already created the USB drive and it is recognized from the BIOS. As my battery was not fully charged I waited with the actual installation. My question is if I could delete the recovery partition while doing the clean install to have more space on the SSD? There was a partition manager in Windows 7 but I am not sure whether or not there is any in Windows 10?Should I copy the current recovery partition first? This should be the original Windows 8.1 Recovery or did Windows 10 overwrite it with the upgrade? Thanks for your help!

UPDATE 4 SOLUTION:
Somehow everything started to work on its own, maybe there was some kind of download on the background of windows, and before formating to windows 8 back, I decided to restart windows few times, and everything got fixed.
Thats my strange solution..... At least its working
So I suggest you to do every possible update on windows and 10 do few restarts, there are some background updates that we can't track probably, so let them settle and restart pc.

There is no download of the Recovery Partition available, however this partition will be re-created when you reinstall the OS using Recovery Discs.
