  • How to create a Self-Signed Digital Certificate in Office 2013

In office 2010 we had a "Digital Certificate for VBA Projects" tool for creating self-signed certificates.  How do we do this with the newer Office 2013 suite?

    Eugene,
This answer is wrong.  The Answer from rLogic above is better.  Things in fact
have changed.  The article: Digitally sign your macro project
is fine for Office 2010 but not for Office 2013.  The article: Digitally sign your macro project  tells you to do this:
Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP
Click Start, point to All Programs, click Microsoft Office, click Microsoft
Office Tools, and then click Digital Certificate for VBA Projects.
The Create Digital Certificate dialog box appears.
    </section>
But, you can't follow these instructions if you have office  2013. In Office
    2013 Digital Certificate for VBA
no longer exists in the Microsoft
Office Tools folder.  You  need to hunt for
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office
    15\root\office15\SELFCERT.EXE"
and then run that .exe by clicking on it.  Then you can follow the rest of the instructions
in Digitally sign your macro project

  • How do I install this self-signed SSL certificate?

I haven't been able to connect to the jabber server I've been using (phcn.de) for quite some time now, so I filed a bug report with mcabber. The friendly people there told me to install phcn.de's self-signed certificate, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to do that.

    Hi,
I recently found out a way how to install test or self-signed certificates and use it with S1SE.
    See:
    http://www.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/pub/linux/docs/HOWTO/other-formats/html_single/SSL-Certificates-HOWTO.html
    Follow the instructions there
    1. Create CA
    2. Create root ca certificate
Now install the root-ca-certificate in S1SE -> Security>Certificate Management and Install a "Trusted Certificate Authority".
Paste the contents of the file: cacert.pem into the message-text box.
Then restart the server. Now your CA-Cert should be visible in the Manage Certificates menu.
The next step is to send a certificate-request from S1SE to your e-mail-address.
The contents of the e-mail the server sends to you (certificate request) must be pasted into the file: newreq.pem.
    Now just sign the Request:
    CA.pl -sign
The last step is that you have to paste the contents of the file newcert.pem into the message-box of the Security>Certificate Management - now under the option Certificate for "This Server".
Then you have to reboot the server/instance again and it should work with your certificate.

  • How do i install a self signed server certificate

After using the admin tool to generate a request CSR, how do I sign this myself for testing purposes so I can install it and therefore run using https?
I have keytool and certutil both available on the system.
My most recent solution was to cut and paste the request to www.thawte.com/cgi/server/test.exe and it would return a certificate that was good for 21 days. This however is not the solution I am looking for.

  • How-to install a self-signed certificate on Sony Ericcson W350

I am a developer and I am writing a j2me application for a Sony Ericcson W350 phone which needs to be able to use the phones SMS capabilities.  I have a signed .jar and .jad file with a self-signed certificate.  However, the phone is still treating my application as an untrusted third party app.  I think this is occuring because my self-signed certificate isn't in the java certificate store on the phone. Is there a way to load my self-signed certificate into the java certificate store?  I have tried copying it over to the phone via bluetooth and usb and installing it through the filesystem, however there isn't an option to install the certificate when browsing to it from the phone's filesystem.  Any help would be much appricated.

Deactivating existing Java certificates prevented me from installing the .jad file.  I accessed the phone's file system using both Sony PC Companion with USB and using the OS file browser over bluetooth.

  • HT5012 How can you add a self signed CA Certificate to iOS 8?

How Can I add a self signed CA Certificate to an iPad with iOS 8.1?

I don’t think that I can help you but I am very interested in your question. Perhaps you have seen information about a related problem…
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6590335
One way to install the self-signed CA certificate is to export it to a .CER file, email it to the iOS 8 device, open the attachment and process it. My guess is that the certificate will be installed (check the resulting profile) but due to an iOS 8 bug it will be ineffective.
Or, you could send a signed email from the email account for the CA. Open the email on the iOS 8 device and process it.
I assume your goal is for certificates issued by the CA to be automatically trusted on the iOS 8 device. Good luck with that.
The method I used was to send a .CER file. The CA certificate showed up as a profile. However, I do not get automatic trusting of certificates issued by the CA.

  • Nokia X - import self signed server certificate

Do someone know how to import a self signed server certificate? No CA root certificate, only a server!
I connect from all my devices to a Baikal server for calenders and addresses. For this machine I generate a self signed server certificate. I am working with all devices without problems after I import the certificate to this (iPhone, iPad, iMac, Win7, Srv2k8, Linux,...). Only the Nokia X don't want to accept it.
I store the cert in DER format and name ending to .cer to the memory card, choose the import, the cert is found and I have to name it, but then it will not import it??? And the CAdroid is not working?!
Do someone know how to do this right? Thanks.

Hi, anoymo. You may install the self-signed certificate by downloading it using the phone's browser. The file format should be DER encoded binary (X.509). Or you can create an HTML file using the notepad. Just copy this code (<HTML><BODY><a href="FileName.cer">Install certificate</a></BODY></HTML>) excluding the parenthesis to the notepad and save it as .html. Create a zip file for the certificate and the HTML file, copy it to the phone then open the .html file it should prompt you to install the certificate.  Directly importing it to the phone is not possible.

  • How to renewal the Java Keytool DIgital Certificate programmatically?

    Hi,
I created the self signed Digital certificate programmatically. My certificate got expired.I want to Renewal the Digital certificate programmatically.
If any one is having idea to renewal the certificate, please share it to me.
    Thank you

Whenever we want to renewal the certificate , we have to create new key store file and new certficate file .
    NO
    Absolutely not.
    I've just told you that.
Instead of tcreating new certificate/keystore file, is it possible to update the +'valid from and Valid to date '+ alone in old keystore file?I've jsut answered that as well. I don't know what code you executed to generate the original certificate but you have to repeat the part that signed it.

  • EDirectory install - failed to retrieve self-signed root certificate:142

    Hi,
My istallation has 2 NICs, public & internal.
    My tree name is IS.
I have succesfully installed and used RedCarpet. I additionally enabled
the Firewall and DHCP server to allow internet access to my users.
On running Yast install for eDirectory I am given the default IP address
of the server, this is the Public IP address - I decided that eDirectory
was for internal use so changed IP address to internal one.
At 50% of installation an error pops up :-
    Error
The installation failed to retrieve the self-signed root certificate:142
    I aborted the installation.
I retried the install using the public Ip address, it complains ports are
already in use, I chose ignore and go ahead. Same error occurs :142.
Your assistance and guidance would be appreciated.

    Hi, this is roy.
had the same issue. using a supermicro with a builtin dual nic.
disabled it and installed an old pci nic to test and it finally loaded the
    edirectory without an error.
on another note, i am installing the NLSBS 9.0 and had to manually load
the disk drivers since i have an adaptec 2010s raid adapter. i had
installed suse 9.3 on the same machine earlier with absolutely no issues,
but NLSBS is a pain. if you run red carpet and update all, then the driver
    issue returns.
how do you get and install the service pack 2?
    thanks,

  • Installing non-self signed software Digital IDs

    Hi all,
to the best of my knowledge Acrobat allows installation of digital IDs either in software format (PKCS#12 keystores) or in hardware format (PKCS#11 HSMs). As far as the former is concerned, only self-signed certificates are allowed (PKCS#12 dows not support trustStore certificate attribute). My business case is that Digital IDs are formulated as non-self signed certificates delivered in JKS keystore. Unfortunately currently Acrobat forbids the installation of these IDs.
Does anyone know if this is going to change in the future?
    Thank you in advance,
    Regards,
       Paul.

    Hi Dom,
If you enable FIPS mode in Acrobat or Reader, then the ability to create a self-signed digital ID is disabled. You want to set the following registry entry (making sure Acrobat or Reader is closed):
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\<version>\AVGeneral
    bFIPSMode=1
    or
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\<version>\AVGeneral
    bFIPSMode=1
This was introduced in version 8.1 so <version> will be either "8.0" or "9.0". Also, this will only works on Windows; the FIPS compliance setting was not implemented on the Mac or Linux platforms.

  • How to erase all self signed certificates and force Server to use Signed SSL

I have been using a poorly managed combination of self-signed SSL certificates and a free one. I have purchased a good SSL from Digicert and am trying to configure the server to use it across the board. All of the services seem to be using it, but when I try to manage the server remotely, I seeing a self-signed certificate instead.
I look under the system keychain in K-Access and there are several self signed certificates there (including the one that I am seeing when I try to remote manage).
Can I replace those self-signed certs with the new one some how?

Don't delete those.  However, you are on the right track.  Follow these steps to resolve.
    1:  Launch Keychain Access
    2:  Select the System Keychain
3:  Find the com.apple.servermgrd IDENTITY PREFERENCE (looks like a contact card) and double click to open it
4:  In the Preferred Certificate popup, change com.apple.servermgrd to your purchased certificate
5:  Press Save Changes to save.
6:  Reboot the server or kill the servermgrd process to restart the service.
    That should resolve your issue.

  • How to renew a self signed certificate

    Hello,
Can someone tell me how I can renew a self signed certificate ? I can't find the relevant option with the certadmin command.

    Hi,
thanks I had scanned through that document, but it doesn't tell you how to renew a self signed certificate. I went through all the options of the certadmin tool, and renewing a certificate is not one of them. So I guess it must be done manually via some pki binary somewhere on my system, but which one and how ?

  • How to use a self-signed certificate

    Hello,
I am having some troubles understanding how to use a self-signed certificate. I have created one using Keychain Access -> Create Certificate but it never asked me for the private key and it never told me where the certificate is stored. How am I supposed to use it?
Typically I would like to do two things:
    1) use the certificate to for example sign an email or other document so that the recipient can verify that it was really me. I understand the concept that they have to have my public key and use it to somehow decrypt something that I have encrypted with my private key. But where is my private key? As mentioned, the certificate creation process never at any point asked me to provide a private key.  An example using this process to sign an email would be really appreciated.
    2) I want to be able to decrypt a message that someone sends to me after encrypting it with my public key. Again, I need my private key, where is it? I was never asked to choose one!
Please note that i am familiar with the whole process using openSSL ssh via command line, I just need to understand how to achieve the same thing using the certificate creation procedure provided via Keychain Access.
In short, now thta I have created my certificate, how do I use it? Examples for dummies would be really appreciated
    Thanks  in advance
    /Andrea
