How to install Airport utility without windows 7

I just bought Apple Airport Extreme.  Everything is plugged in and Airport Utility did not install.  What if I do not have Windows 7?  How do I get my network setup?

Sorry, I do not have a PC handy to test, but you clearly have a PC setttings issue, likely related to the anti-virus settings or a Windows Firewall blocking action. Try posting in a Windows support forum for tips on how to connect to a wireless network.

  • How to Install Airport Utility in a differant language to windows

    Hi,
I have a German Windows XP PC. How do I get the Airport Utility (For the new AirPort Extreme 802.11n) to install in a different language (English)?
    Thanks for your help,
    Adam

The application is always going to install in whatever language you have the PC set to. The only way I can think to change this is to change your installation from German to English.

  • Install Airport Utility on a Windows Vista PC

I try to install Airport Utility on a Windows Vista laptop but the Windows installer stops and says that the Administrator of the laptop has not authorised installing software. I am the Administrator myself, and I can install other software, so how can I solve this?

Excellent news. Glad you're up and running again.

  • Airport Utility for Windows fails during install

I downloaded the latest driver for the airport utility for Windows 7.   Ran the exec and during the install had a failure on some file that didn't get installed.
Have all firewalls down.  Utility comes up but doesn't find my airport extreme.

Thanks.  Tried the hard wire approach and the utility didn't find it.   Did the config other and it was found.  So the unit is there but the utility can find it which is what I need in order to connect the shared drive to my windows 7 system.
The airport base station agent is running and configured but I never get a prompt to enter the disk password.
Nice clue about using the IP to connect.
I did this via WIFI. Used my iMac to get the IP address.
The time machine is in bridge mode and connecting through another router to the internet.

  • HT5022 trying to install airport utility 5.6 but during installation it says cleaning up then the installation fails how can I install the software

I am trying to install airport utility on my mac with OS 10.7.5 to use my old airport express but during installation after it says cleaning up it stops installing with an error message an error occured.
The software is from the Apple site and all it says is to contact the developer but cannot find out who to contact

Here are the basic steps to install version 5.6 under Mountain Lion using CharlesSoft's Pacifist:
If you haven't already download the AirPort Utility disk image file directly from Apple Support Download
Place the resultant AirPortUtility56.dmg file onto your Mac's Desktop.
    Run Pacifist.
Click on the Open Package option. Find the disk image file that you just placed on your desktop, and then, click on Open.
The utility is located as follows: Contents of AirPortUtility56.dmg > Contents of AirPortUtility56.pkg > Contents of AirPortUtility56Lion.pkg > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility 5.6.app
Drag AirPort Utility 5.6.app to your Mac's /Applications/Utilities folder.
You can now run the AirPort Utility from the Utilities folder.

  • Can't install Airport Utility 5.6 in OSX 10.7.5

I have a 2005 Airport Extreme that I manage using an iMac running Mac OSX 10.7.5. I recently tried to access my airport to check the IP address. Airport Utility could not access the Airport and told me that I needed to install Airport Utility 5.6 to access the Airport. I installed AU 5.6 and tried to access the Airport, but this time was told that this version of AU does not work with Mac OSX 10.7.5. So I downloaded AU 6.2. On this third attempt to access my Airport, I was told that this version of AU does not work with this Airport  and I need to install version 5.6. I'm stuck. Does anyone have any suggestions (other than buying a new Airport, that is).
    Thanks for the help,
    Paul

Make sure you download it from this URL
AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion
It should install without any difficulty.
AU 5.6.1 is for the latest AirPort Base Stations for systems running Snow Leopard.
    NB from the following
AirPort Base Station: How to set up and configure an 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station or AirPort Express in OS X Lion
If you are using OS X Lion and wish to set up or configure an older 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station, or 802.11g AirPort Express, manually download and install AirPort Utility 5.6. AirPort Utility 5.6 can be used to configure earlier 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station, and AirPort Express; it can also be used for 802.11n AirPort base stations.
To obtain and use AirPort Utility 5.6:
    Go to http://support.apple.com/downloads/.
Search for AirPort Utility 5.6 and download it.
Allow AirPort Utility 5.6 to install.
Open AirPort Utility from the /Applications/Utilities folder.
Note: If you are configuring or setting up a newer AirPort Base Stations that support 802.11n, you should use AirPort Utility 1.0 for iOS or AirPort Utility 6.0 for OS X Lion, or later.
You can have both AirPort Utility 6.0 and 5.6 in the /Applications/Utilities folder.
AirPort Utility 5.6 will appear in the /Applications/Utility folder as "AirPort Utility 5.6"
AirPort Utility 6.0 will appear as "AirPort Utility"

  • How to install SQLCMD / OSQL on windows core?

On windows server 2012 r2 core installs, how can we install SQLCMD or OSQL using the setup media?
    yup

Trying to include all the parts which can go under sysprep without inflating the VHD. Once the image is sysprepped I'll install SQL Server at the end.
While I tried to install the - I was struck at "Management Tools - Basic", which is not available for CORE and SQLcmd seems to be available under that or the DB engine only.
    Hello,
Which installation media did you used to install the SQLCMD? If you want to install SQLCMD utility without SQL Server, you can refer to the link as Keith post above, or the following link:
    Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 SP1 Feature Pack
Note: SQLCMD installation requires both Windows Installer 4.5 and Microsoft SQL Server Native Client (which is another component available in the link).

  • Unable to open airport utility on Windows 7

I'm unable to open Airport Utility on my Windows 7 laptop because I keep getting an error message saying Airport Utility requires Windows 7 service pack 1 or later.  SP1 was already installed.  I tried deleting and reinstalling SP1 and Airport Utility still won't open.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

This can happen when the Airport Utility installation download can't find an authentication file - short of doing a clean install of Windows 7, try the following:
    1. Delete any old Windows folders if Windows 7 was an upgrade
    2. Turn off anti-virus programs
    3. Turn off the Windows Firewall
    4. Delete any partial installations of the AU that may be present
If the above does not work then try to download the previous version of the AU 5.5.3 at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1391

  • How to find airport extreme in windows 8.1

My windows 8.1 64bit wont find my airport extreme model A1408

Are you using wireless or ethernet?
Ethernet is always to be preferred.. please plug the computer in by ethernet if possible even if you are using wireless.
Does the computer get a valid IP address from the AE?
Open the command window (which strangely has never been replaced to this point).. and type
ipconfig /all (find the IPv4 address for wireless and ethernet).
If they get 169.254.x.x address then it is self allocated and there is simply no connection.
If you get proper IP address then ping it, using the command
ping AEname or ping AEIPaddress (where you use the network name or network IPaddress of the AE).
Certainly if your AE is named
    Fred Blog's Airport Extreme
That is not a valid windows name.. so you should fix the names on your AE.. use names that are short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
Please install the airport utility for windows.. there is none specifically for win8 but the win7 version should load.
That improves things with bonjour and some extra files.
Windows can firewall off the AE as unknown device. Ensure the computer is in home location, not work or public. Ensure that if you have correct IP address and ping fails then simply turn off your firewalls.
If wireless still doesn't work.. welcome to the world of voodoo.. you can have driver issues.
Post back exactly what the wireless card is in the computer.

  • Installing Airport Utility 5.6.1 in order to configure older Airport Extreme/g model doesn't work as it won't install with OS 10.8.5 Mountain Lion. Solution?

I need to configure Airport Extreme Base Station 802.11b/g but Airport Utility 6.3.1 will not work.
    I found this page:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5022
it recommends installing Airport Utility 5.6 which downloads as 5.6.1
but it will not install on Mountain Lion OS 10.8.5
    so what to do?

AirPort Utility 5.6.1 is for Snow Leopard. Use 5.6 for Lion or Mountain Lion.
You can use the following workaround to install AirPort Utility 5.6 on a Lion or Mountain Lion Mac:
Be sure to read the caveats at the end.
Lion / Mountain Lion's package installer will refuse to install superseded versions of AirPort Utility. Instead you will need to use a package extractor such as Pacifist or unpkg. Pacifist is shareware, unpkg is free.
    Download Pacifist here: http://www.charlessoft.com/
    Download unpkg here: http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Download AirPort Utility 5.6 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
When the AirPort Utility .dmg file finishes downloading, open it to expand and reveal the AirPortUtility56.pkg package installer file.
Directions for Pacifist (I do not have screenshots for unpkg but the idea is similar):
Open Pacifist and from its File menu, navigate to the package and open it.
Click the "reveal triangles" until you see AirPort Utility 5.6.app:
Select it and then click Install from Pacifist's toolbar. It will then be installed in your Utilities folder, and you can quit Pacifist.
The most recent version of AirPort Utility included with Mountain Lion should be used to configure 802.11n - capable AirPort Base Stations. Make no attempt to delete it. It and the older version (which will bear the unique name "AirPort Utility 5.6") can peacefully coexist. Use the older version only as necessary for older AirPort Base Stations that cannot be administered any other way.
If you happen to have an archived copy of the AU 5.6 app somewhere, such as a Time Machine backup or equivalent, you can simply restore it or drag the app to your Mountain Lion system's Utilities folder instead of resorting to the above procedure. It will run without complaint. It is only the package installer that is the problem.
Keep in mind that Apple's decision to abandon support for the original AirPort Express and AEBS was for reasons known only to them. Remember that you are using obsolete equipment, should some future OS X feature not work for you.

  • How to Install or Run on Windows Xp/7

Hi, I just see the bin/kvctl for Linux.
How to Install o Run on Windows ?

The actual command to invoke kvlite is pretty simple. From the bottom of the kvlite script:
    java $LOGGING -cp $LIBDIR/kvstore-1.1.100.jar oracle.kv.util.kvlite.KVLite -root $KVROOT -store $KVSTORE -host $HOSTNAME -port $REGPORT $ADMINPORT
Here is a .cmd file that you can use (it's not supported). Some of our developers run on Windows but it is not a supported platform since we don't run our qualification tests on it. It's Java code, so in theory, "it should just work".

  • Error Installing Airport Utility on OSX 10.8.2

I can't install Airport Utility on OSX 10.8.2 so that I can install Airport Extreme.  Error message says the version of Mac OS X is not supported.  What can I do? Easily!

You have to install AirPort Utility from the disc if you're using Windows on your PC, so that's because Apple doesn't say it. Also, you could have bought an old AirPort Extreme that includes an older AirPort version for another Mac OS X
