How to Install Application Server Control on top of AS J2EE Installation.

Hi,
I just installed AS 10g 10.1.2, upgraded it to 10.1.2.3 and applied Jul2008 CPU.
It was initially a simple J2EE install (with only J2EE and OC4J).
It seems there is no EM Application Server Control component since all attempts below failed:
http://host.domain:1156
http://host.domain:1156/em
http://IP:1156/
http://IP:1156/em
portlist.ini
Oracle Management Agent Port = 1157
Application Server Control RMI port = 1850
Application Server Control port = 1156
I am accessing the system (unix servers, etc) via vpn.
Question:
1) How do I verify if Application server control is installed or not installed.
2) How do I install Application server control if the component has not been installed
on top of AS 10.1.2.3 (base 10.1.2 install with 10.1.2.3 upgrade Jul2008 cpu)
Thanks.
Our intent is to use Application Server Control to access Workflow manager
Tried

AS Control gets installed with every install type so it should be there. Refer this for details:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/core.1012/b13995/tools.htm#sthref110
If http://host.domain:1156 doesn't work, AS Control might not be up. Start it using "$OH/bin/emctl start iasconsole". Refer below (mainly point #3 below) for details on what and how to start a mid-tier instance:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/core.1012/b13995/tools.htm#sthref110

  • How to install OAS Server Control in 10.1.3.1

I have a server where OAS 10.1.3.1 is installed and running, but it looks like the OAS Server Control was not part of the initial install. I need to go in and change some timeout settings but am not sure how to get to those settings without the Server Control web interface. Can I install this separatly without affecting what is already setup?
    Thanks,

Are you sure AS Control wasn't installed with this AS instance? I am thinking it might be there but just not running. Check to see if you have an entry for application name="ascontrol" in your $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/config/server.xml file? Also check if you have "ascontrol.ear" file and "ascontrol" directory under $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/applications directory. If you do, chance are, AS Control is already deployed but just not running.
Check what does "opmnctl status -app" shows? If it shows the state of ascontrol application as "stopped", you can start it using "opmnctl startproc application=ascontrol".
    Thanks

No you can't, I read in a note that you can configure it after installation, so you may need to reinstall in order to have it.
Other way is to install a new server and create a Cluster configuration, and you could have both servers administrated by one EM console.
For this, after install the new instance (checking the box to configure EM console that is one of the final screen in OUI before start the install process), stop all services, then add to opmn.xml file in both instances this:
    *<notification-server interface="ipv4">*
    *<topology>*
    *<nodes list="app01:6201,app02:6201" />*
    *</topology>*
    *</notification-server>*
Of course app01 and app02 are the name of the appservers (hostnames) and the ports are for the Remote port of opmn, that you can look at them in opmn.xmml file also.
At the end you will only need to make a opmnctl start, then opmnctl reload and finally opmnctl startall, to check that this work, you can run opmnctl @cluster status and it will have to show you the status of both instances, finally, if you can see both instances in opmn, you may try to check Em console, you will see both instances too..
    Hope this helps.

  • How to Install Application Server

    Hi ALL,
I want to install Oracle Application Server and then To Deploy forms there.
I am doing this on Linux with 10G.
So I know that First I have to install Oracle Infrastructer & then Oracle Midtier
    Servers.
So Probably these two installations will create two diffirent home.
So in Which home I need to configure my forms in Infra or in Mid ?
And also as I am on Linux due to some reason I want to install all these
through single os user Oracle by which I have already installed Oracle Dev Suite.
So the .bash_profile for Oracle user is now set for Dev Suite.
So what changes I will need to do in .bash_profile to run Application Server
    with same user ?
And as I was starting Oc4 by ./startinstance.sh for DevSuite
What shells I need to fire to up Application Server.
If possible please forword any useful link related above stuff.

    Hi James,
Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 is supported, but not yet in the oraparam.ini
You can either comment the OS line in oraparam.ini, to prevent OS checking.
Or run runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs if you're sure all other prerequisites are met.
The first option is preferable, since the second will ignore all prerequisites.
    The installer should run fine.

OAS Release 2 (10.1.2.x.x) was a complete release but OAS Release 3 (10.1.3) was not. After release 2, Oracle Fusion Middleware OFM 11g is now a complete release.
OracleAS Identity Mgmt (10.1.4) was the updated version of OAS Id Mgmt after OAS 10.1.2 and before OFM 11g.

ServerManagerCMD.exe is a deprecated utility and (as far as I know) is only found on Server 2008 versions, so I'm surprised it's needed for the preinstaller.  Are you trying to install SharePoint 2010?
Running this page through Google Translate should give you an clearer idea on getting this installed.

  • Oracle application server control white screen problem

    Hi,
I have installed Oracle Application server 10g. Both the infra and mid tier are running from the
    same machine.
I am able to login to application server control from http://riysvdwh-004:7777, but
unable to login to the application server control from http://riysvdwh-004:7778,
i can login to portal and discoverer from the second link, but when i click on"log on to
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Application Server Control:" i get a white page and 5-6
pipe symbols moving at the top left of the screen and i dont get the next screen.
I have checked the setupinfo.txt file in midtierhome/install location and found out that
the hostname in the database connection string is different, instead of hostname riysvdwh-004
    , it is riysverp-004,
Use only SSL connections with this Oracle Internet Directory:No
    Database Connection String: riysvdwh-004:1521:ASDBDEV.riysverp-004:ASDBDEV.riysverp-004
Use the following URL to access the Oracle HTTP Server and the Welcome Page:
    http://riysvdwh-004:7778
i think this could be a reason why i am unable to login from port 7778.
Is there a way to make this work.
    would appreciate some suggestions.
    regards,

    1) Look in the $ORACLE_HOME/install directory ... ports used for the various functions such as EM are usually listed in the portlist.ini file in each Oracle Home
    2) Ask in the App Server forum. There is an assumption that questions in the Database forum are primarily focussed on Database issues. <g>

To connect to the App Server control, you need to login with the id ias_admin. The password is whatever you specified during the installation process. The port number to use would have been displayed at the end of the installation process.
Help on how to configure the Discoverer catalog is available in Ch 6: "Configuring the Discoverer Catalog and Discoverer Plus OLAP", of the Oracle® Business Intelligence Discoverer Configuration Guide, 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.0), Part No. B13918-02, available at http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_09/bi.1012/b13918/disco_catalog_config.htm#CJAHAHGH

  • Memory utilization presented in Application Server Control

    Hi
I have Oracle Application Server 10g R3 Patch Set 5 application server, which work in cluster. On mian page in Oracle Application Server Control I have memory column, where I can see information about memory utilization. I wonder about this information. For example, I have heap size set for 2 GB and application uses 300MB, but I have on main page Application Server Control 900 MB memory utilization for OC4J container. Why is so difference between use heap space memory (only 300 MB), and this information 900 MB? But sometimes, memory in Server Control rises to 2 GB, but application uses 300 MB heap space still. Why does occur this situation (much difference between uses heap space and memory presented on Server Control)?
    Thanks awfully for help.

    Memory is allocated
    - by the operating system itself
    - by the database (SGA_TARGET)
    - by the application server buffers (ST02 et al)
    - by the operating system as filesystem cache (if you e. g. use VxFS you may configure the memory consumption)
To see where the memory is being used, use OS tools like 'glance' or 'top'.

  • Unable to create connection to Application Server Control from JDev

    Hi All,
I am unable to create connection to Application Server Control of SOA Suite from JDeveloper and getting following error:
    Error getting OC4J Process for: opmn-home+oc4j-<hostname>-<OPMN Port>-default:
Error connecting to OPMN (is it running?): Connection refused: connect
I restarted all OPMN processes...still getting the same error.
    Thanks
    Krrish

    Hi.
I got a similar error sometime ago.
It was related to OPMN not getting bound to the correct server IP. It happened because my SOA Suite was installed in one machine that does not have a fixed IP (or uses loopback adapter) and then I tried to connect to this SOA Suite from another machine, using JDev.
I checked this by running "opmnctl debug". then you can see on what IP the opmn is listening on.
Didn't know how to solve this.

  • Remote access database using Application Server Control Console

When I install the Oracle Application Server 10g, it gives me a web-based tool, i.e., to use the Application Server Control Console to manager/monitor the server.
Now If the Application Server is installed in a remote location, and there is no LAN connection to it, can I still access it via the Application Server Control Console? (i.e., via the HTTP protocol). (I believe that I can only use the Console to manage the AS which is physically located in the same machine).
    Thanks
    Scott

    Hi Scott!
The ASC will allow you only to manage its own installation. So if you have 10 AS instances you will have 10 ASC's to manage it.
If you want to remotely manage your installations you need the Grid Control.
Otherwise you will need a connection to the machine.
I do not understand the issue about the "no LAN connection"? How do you want to access the machine if there is no network connectivity anyway?

  • Application Server Control 10g : Memory usage wrong

    Hi,
We have install an OAS 10g on Windows Server 2003 with 8Gb RAM. But on the Application server Control, only 2 Gb are display in memory usage (Application server 372 Mb+Free 1675 Mo).
How configure Application Server to see all memory available ?
    Thanks

32bit Windows have 4GB address space, which is split 2Gb system and 2Gb user. So user processes have 2Gb virtual address space (even if hw has more RAM).
Perhaps "App Server Control" mem stats system is limited by this concept. And maybe the app server is threaded?
Is it 32bit or 64bit hardware and OS?
