How to install boot camp on a pre-partitioned HD ?

Hi,
I have just done a clean install of my mac. Before installation i used disk utility to create a few partitions, one of them made available for Boot Camp.
Now when i start the Boot Camp Assistant it tells me:
"The startup disk can not be partitioned or restored to a single partition.
The startup disk must be formatted as a single mac os extended (journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing windows"
What the h.... do i really have to start over AGAIN?!
I need 3 mac partitions and 1 windows, if i re-install, then use boot camp assistant to create a windows partition i'll be left with just 2 partitions.....
Any help is very welcome at this point.

You don't need to run Boot Camp Assistant since you've already partitioned the drive. Just boot to your Windows disc and follow the installer set up. All Boot Camp Assistant does is partition the drive for you.
However, I'm pretty certain with that many partitions, depending on the order in which you've placed them, you will run into some errors trying to install Windows on the Windows partition you've created. I believe the Windows installer doesn't like to install on anything higher than partition 4. If your Windows partition is #3, and your Mac OS partition is #2, you may still encounter an error, but this has a far easier workaround than having the Windows partition be higher than partition #4.

Forgotten how to install Boot Camp

I had to reinstall Windows 7 64-bit because I needed more space for Mac OS X. After reinstallation, which went perfectly, I have forgotten how to install Boot Camp. This MBP 3.1 will not install Boot Camp from the Snow DVD because it says that 64-bit mode isn’t supported (not true). I installed several components by hand. All I remember from the old style of bulletin boards was to copy the Windows contents of the DVD on to the desktop, then to use SuperOrca to modify the ISO. I don’t, however, remember the exact details of what was supposed to be modified and how to do it. This is also supposed to prevent the error of Apple Software Update not recognizing the installation of BC 3.2 after it was done.
I can’t find the old instructions with the new format, so any help is appreciated. Peace.

Ok do this...
Insert your Windows Bootcamp Drivers Disc (aka OSX Install disc that came with your computer).
When you see the prompt from Windows Explorer, instead of clicking the "setup.exe" option scroll down and click in the Explore/view files (or something like that, don't remember.)
Look into the folder labeled as Bootcamp, then click another folder called "drivers", inside there should be another folder labeled as "Apple".
Inside, there should be a file labeled "bootcamp64.msi".
Single click the file (bootcamp64.msi) and once it's highlighted, do a right click ( to do you must do the following key combo Shift+F10)
A right click menu should appear. One of the options is labeled as "Troubleshoot Compatibility".
A dialog should appear, click on the "Start Program" option when it becomes available.
The Bootcamp Driver Wizard should now appear. Follow the prompts of Bootcamp Assistant as always.
Drivers will install automatically.
Reboot.

How to install Boot Camp on a MacBook Pro 2011

Well I bought a new MacBook Pro and I have constantly been trying to install Boot Camp.
When I open Boot Camp it shows me the Introduction, then it asks me if I would like to install the Lastest Windows Supports Software From Apple, and if I would like to Install Windows 7. I tick both boxes and then another page opens.
It asks me if I would like to install it to a DVD or CD, or if I would like to install it to an external hard drive. Now, I have tried both of these, and they both show a page asking me how much space I would like to be Mac space, and Windows space. After I've chosen how much I would like, I click install. After about 30 seconds, a message pops up saying the installer disk could not be found, please insert the installer disk and wait a few seconds, and the click install again.
I have done this many times, and that same message pops up. Please, if any of you people out there have the solution for me it would be gratefully apreciated.

No, it doesn't. You have to purchase the Windows 7 installer. Windows is not included with the computer. Did you discuss the matter with someone when you bought your computer? If you did they should have told you that you would need to buy Windows 7. If you had asked while you were purchasing the computer then you could have paid for Windows at the time and had it installed for you.

How to install Boot Camp 3.1?

Hi,
I would like to install Boot Camp 3.1 which I can download from the Apple Download page. But when executing the exe file on the Windows Partition it tells me I need to install Boot Camp 3.0 first. But there is now download available for Boot Camp 3.0. The Apple Software Update Utility does not show it as well so I am stuck here.
Does anybody know how to perform this upgrade?

Hi, I have a MacBook (13-Inch, Early 2009 and Uni-Body Silver) and with Snow OSX, I install Win7 64-bit operation and I can't find any Boot Camp for 64-Bit WIN7....Does anyone know how and where can download it? I insert Snow disk and it's show it's not support 64-bit on this computer model...does anyone know why??

I used Boot Camp to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview as the 2nd OS on my 2011 MacBook Pro. However after the installation I cannot install the additional Boot Camp just the drivers for webcam/wifi/ethernet/cardreader/display/chipset etc.
But I would like to be able to use the function keys to adjust the brightness and volume like on a normal laptop without having to go through settings.
Anyone know how?

You need to install the Boot Camp Windows Support Software, but I have no idea which version of OSX you have so, if 10.6.x the software is on the OSX install disk, likewise for 10.5.x, if you are running 10.7.x (lion) it is a download from the Boot Camp Assistant.

How to install Boot Camp 2.1 in XP SP3?

Don't ask me how i did it, but I managed to install SP3 on my XP partition, before the Boot Camp 2.1 update came. Now, I can't install the BC update: I keep getting the "Error applying transforms..." message. I don't have the "Language D-WORD (32bit)"-thing anywhere in the regedit, so that won't help me either, so I'm at a loss as to what to do in order to install the update.
For the record, everything seem to work just fine with my current setup - which then must be Boot Camp 2.0 on XP SP3... :-P
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I managed to install Bootcamp 2.1 by modifing the Language setting in "Boot Camp Services" (only mine was in spanish) but I still have NO SOUND, I keep getting a driver is not for this hardware error... this is a macbook from octuber 2007. Running Leopard 10.5.4 currently.

The question is I only can see the .exe file in Aplication folder after I download the bootcamp installation file and can't open it...
There is a button with name "BOOTCAMP" in DEVICES when I open finder but empty inside.
My macbook version is Mac OS X 10.6.8

For starters Apple does not support Windows 8 yet under Boot Camp.
Boot Camp is install as part of OS X. It is located in Applications > Utilities

HOW to install Boot Camp/Windows XP

WOW am I confused. I go out and buy MacBook Pro and a brand new full version of Windows XP and I can't get past first base. I have downloaded Boot Camp and am at the screen where it wants me to select a destination volume to install it to and I have a brand new Apple DVD in the slot and it won't let me install to the hard drive? I know I'm pretty dumb about this but I can't even get it installed, let alone use it. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks very much.

Have you upgraded to 10.4.6? If not, you must do so. Have you applied the firmware upgrade? If not, you must do so.
As a catch-all, may I dare to suggest that you read the documentation? Apple recommends that you print the PDF document supplied so you can refer to it duing the process. The prerequisites I mention above are mentioned repeatedly on the Web page and the short read-me files scattered along the way from download to completed installation.

How to install Boot Camp on Win/XP SP3?

Is Boot Camp even supported on SP3? I can't run the BC that's on the Leopard install DVD (blue screen of death), nor can I run the BCUpdateXP.exe on Apple's website (doesn't launch). I've looked at the other threads here but none addresses this issue. My Win/XP DVD is a new one with SP3 already on it. Could this be the problem, you have to go SP2 -> BC -> SP3?

If you pop Leopard disc in while running XP SP3 and it crashes, then you have:
BSOD: they seem to be due to: driver issue; ram issue; possibly even hard drive bad blocks. Or, there really are differences in XP SP3 CDs, some work, some don't.
BC 2.1 was suppose to "help" was all. If your copy of Leopard, or your Mac, came out in the last 6 months, or since 10.5.4, you don't really even need BC 2.1. Obviously you have to be running Windows to run or install any .exe update etc. What is on Apple web site is standalone but only runs AFTER or when it sees that 2.0x already exists. It is an update-only.
You could try doing chkdsk and memory test from XP.
Roll back drivers, restore from last known good check point, and boot from XP CD and run system repair.

The Mac mini 2011 model does not have a DVD drive. It is possible to install Mac software over the network using another Macs DVD drive but this will not let you install Windows.
You need to either use an external DVD drive and connect it to the Mac mini, or for Windows 7 it is possible to copy the installer on to a USB memory stick, boot from the memory stick, and run the install from that.

2010 Mac Pro Boot Camp - Refuses to boot Windows after installing Boot Camp drivers

Hey all,
I have a quad 3.2Ghz 2010 Mac Pro with a Radeon 5870 and 8 GB RAM.
I have 2 10000RPM WD Raptor drives, the first drive is my Lion boot drive. The 4th bay contains the second Raptor which has Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed. Bay 2 has Time Machine, bay 3 has a Windows backup drive.
I had first installed Windows and the Boot Camp drivers a few months ago and everything was humming along smoothly. Monday I tried to boot into Windows and it crashed immediately after the black Booting Windows screen started to change to the login window. This happened repeatedly. Nothing changed on the system that I am aware of. Whenever I tried to boot windows again, it booted into the repair mode. That did not seem to work because after running the repair it would still not boot.
So I did what is usually required of Windows, and that was to reinstall. I reformatted the hard drive, ran Boot Camp assistant, and started the install.
Everything was peachy so far, so I tried to reinstall the Boot Camp drivers (4.0). Did a reboot. Same problem. Doh!
So I did ANOTHER reinstall, and everything was fine. But this time I tried to install the Boot Camp drivers off the os install disc that came with my Mac (3.1). Still no go!
So finally I did my third reinstall and after that I did not install Boot Camp drivers. However, I did load up the CD and individually installed drivers for the Apple Mouse, Apple Keyboard, Cinema Display, etc. No problems whatsoever. Everything is actually still humming along fine.
So it looks like running the full Boot Camp install for some reason no longer works. Which means I am missing the Apple Boot Camp control panel, but that's not really a big deal. Althought it's quite annoying to not have the functionality of the special Mac keyboard keys like volume control, etc.
Has anyone run into this? I thought it might be a hardware problem but my Mac OS X OS exhibits no problems whatsoever.

I have a Mac Pro mid 2010 with a SSD and several internal hard disks. For some time I was trying to install Windows 7 on a fresh boot camp volume on a new WD 7200rpm 1TB hard disk. It was taking hours to install, and then I had a series of failures to reboot that proved permanent. The Window Repair utility would come up and took forever to repair the volume - but failed to actually do so, requiring completion reinstallation of the bootcamp volume. This occurred three times, between 1 day and 2 months after installation. I had already moved the Windows drive in to drive slot 1 of the Mac Pro.
Eventually I gave up and installed boot camp on a secondary partition of the SSD. This worked fine, however is limited in capacity. So yesterday I thought I would try to install Windows on the hard disk again. The Windows installer took many hours to do its thing, and eventually a message came up that the installation had failed.
I took your tip about possible hard disk failure, and ran Techtool Pro surface scan. It turns out that there are lots of bad blocks being reported. According to Micromat's documentation, the bad blocks being reported are those that may be in critical areas of the disk that cannot be mapped out. They recommend low level reinitialisation (with zeros) to map out the bad blocks, if possible. I am now running Apple's Disk Utility to do this, and fingers crossed that this reinitialisation succeeds, or I will have to replace the drive.

How to uninstall parallels prior to install boot camp

I am using IMac with latest software up-date. In order to install boot camp for some specific windows applications ( change from XP to 7)
I have to uninstall parallels. How shall I proceed?
