How to install / buy Mac Pro Ram per Apple?

Ok, since the Mac Pro comes with an entry level 2 x 1gb, wouldn't it be best to buy 6 x 1gb cards so that you would have 4 x 1 gb on the bottom and 4 x 1 gb on the top? From Apple:
Mac Pro (Early 2008)
The FB DIMMs used in Mac Pro (Early 2008) computers are 800 MHz DDR2 ECC fully-buffered DIMMs. The Mac Pro (early 2008) has eight FB DIMM slots on two memory riser cards that support up to 32 GB of main memory. The DIMMs are installed as pairs of 1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB sizes.
Solution
This table shows Mac Pro RAM configurations that will achieve ideal performance when running Final Cut Studio applications:
Riser A contains: Riser B contains:
2 x 512MB 2 x 512MB
2 x 1GB 2 x 1GB
2 x 2GB 2 x 2GB
4 x 512MB 4 x 512MB
4 x 1GB 4 x 1GB
4 x 2GB 4 x 2GB
Note: DIMMs must be installed in pairs of equal size from the same vendor. For instance, you must not have one or three DIMMs on either riser at any time. Additionally, two DIMMs from different vendors should not be combined and used as a pair.

They tested whether leaving the stock memory in when adding 4 new FB-DIMMS made any difference. In their testing, it didn't matter.

  • How To Install internal Mac Pro Bluetooth?

Could anyone draw me a picture in my head of how to install this bluetooth device before I get it and put it in pretty quick? Users guide is no joy. Can';t be too hard? I'm softwared up and external now. Keyboard connectivity is not what I'd like... maybe on account of the third party external usb/bluetooth.
I've been elbow deep in my lovely old G4.

  • How do I install a Mac Pro AirPort Extreme Card?

I upgraded from a Verison USB Internet stick (shared amongst four computers--2 Mac and 2 PC) to a Verizon MiFi 4510L router, I found out that only my iBook was wireless enabled. MacMall told me which AirPort card to buy for my MacPro but it has no instructions and I can't find any online. Does anyone know how it's done or has a link to instructions they can share? Also, once the card is installed, is getting connected intuitive or is there more to it than that? Thanks.

  • Extra RAM install on mac pro early 2008

    Hello,
I have purchased and installed 8GB of ram in my mac pro. In addition there was 4 slots of RAM there already. These are 4 x 1GB totalling 4GB of RAM. With the 8GB that will make 12GB in total. However my Mac Pro can only see 10GB of RAM. I have placed the original 2 slots of (2x1GB) RAM with the new 8GB of RAM on the upper riser and the two slots of 1GB on the lower. The lower is not being detected at all. This is despite me moving them around in different slots. What is the answer? I know the RAM is operational and I know the riser trays are fine, my conclusion is that I am not placing the remaining 2 G in the correct slots. Well if anyone can help. I have seen the photo on support community of where you place RAM additional RAM and it still does not recognise the lower riser RAM.

  • How to improve my mac pro speed

how to improve my mac pro speed

You don't have a Mac Pro, you have a MacBook Pro. There is no way to make it faster because you cannot replace the CPU with a faster one. You can add more RAM to help improve performance when you have a lot of concurrent applications running or use memory hungry applications. You can add a faster disk drive to improve the speed of I/O. You can sell it and buy a faster model.

  • Is it good time to buy Mac Pro with display?

    Hi There,
I am thinking to buy Mac Pro with display and I wonder if it’s good time to do that. Displays still waiting for update. We have been waiting for Mac Pro update long and as far as I see the update wasn’t what people generally expected.
And disappointing thing about Blue-ray drive as well. I think it was good time to put one in by Apple.
So do you think its good time to buy all that stuff or wait longer and perhaps better Mac Pro with new display will come out soon?
    Regards

Um no.. It's more than an "extravagant speed bump," the new Mac Pro is using the new 45nm chip architecture. In addition, the significantly larger cache and faster 800mhz RAM make for drastic performance increase.<</div>
    Um...yes..
and with this new faster processor, I'm to do what with???...open an Excel spreadsheet a nanosecond faster, get a few more fps on Doom3? Woop-tee-do! I now have 8 cores but most software uses 1 of them while the other 7 purr in idle.
BluRay/HD video is here... or should I say HAS BEEN here for over a year now.... how am I going to use this new super-dooper processor with editing, creating, and authoring HD video and discs?
A faster processor at this point is meaningless without the tools to use it with.
All they did with the new MacPro is give you a computer that is worth the fixed $2800 price tag.
Reminds me of the tire commercial on tv where they describe this car with exotic and powerful 12 cylinder engine, and plush leather seats, and race proven suspension...... but with no tires.
It all looks great on a spec sheet, but you can't use it to do any real work.
I can film HD video all day long, but I can't use a Mac to put it on disc...... (but I can use a Dell!!)
There is no way anyone can explain this other than political.... I would bet that this has something to do with Steve's affiliation with Disney and other studios in regards to his doomed movie rental snafu. Apple has always been the ground breaker in bringing such technology to the market first (a mouse, a cd drive, multiple displays, a superdrive, etc.), and usually before the consumer even understands they need it. To be this far behind with BluRay, he's got to be holding back for a reason ... and I would love to hear it.
I've been a Mac user for 22 yrs and have only been embarrised to be so twice... once when the fruit flavored iMacs were introduced (eventually proved to be the best selling computer model of all times), and now with the absence of BluRay. I've been hoping Steve will prove me wrong again, but I've been hoping for year now... and am still waiting.
Um... No, the Mac Pros power isn't gonna do much for an excel spreadsheet.. However, I bought mine to use with Logic Studio which does take advantage of all eight-cores and the faster front side bus and RAM, and the performance is remarkable..
Just for kicks I timed how long it took to rip "Finding Nemo" with my old G4 dual 1.25 ghz using Handbrake's Apple TV preset... The G4 took 7 hours and 54 minutes.. My new Mac Pro did the same job in 24 minutes..
If you really want a Blu-Ray drive in your Mac Pro, then just buy one and stick it in the empty optical slot, but be prepared for the price tag... http://www.mcetech.com/blu-ray/
And if you use one of the Pro apps that takes advantage of multiple cores, the new Mac pro is a dream.. If you don't use one of those apps, you probably don't need a Mac Pro. At any rate, you're whole spiel about the Mac pro's power being trivial or useless is nonsense..

  • How to fix my Mac Pro in Italy ?

Last year I buy Mac Pro in china ,but now i am In Italy ,I want to ask how to fix my computer ?i live in Parma ,Italy .ths.

You don't need to do anything, other than make sure you keep abot 10% of your system hard drive free and periodically (like before installing any system updates) verify the hard drive with Disk Utility (repairing if necessary).  Don't fall for the numerous "cleaning" utilities that catch new users switching from Windows...  they are not necessary.

You have to do it on the Apple TV itself while it's plugged into a TV so that you can see its screen.

  • How to Install QuickTime 7 Pro Application in My iPhone 4?

    Hi,
How to Install QuickTime 7 Pro Application in My iPhone 4? QuickTime 7 Pro Application only for Mac? or is it available for iPhone 4 too please let me know the status. if yes means where i can get it from QuickTime 7 Pro application for iPhone 4?.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Suresh Balakrishnan.

It's not possible to download Quick Time for any iPhone. But all the iPhones has some kind of Quick Time built in. I mean, when you wanna open anything what is associated with Quick Time, then you can notice a symbol of Quick Time while it's loading. It all depends on the format of the video you wanna watch. If you watch films on the net via your iPhone, then that is a place where Quick Time associations are very commonly used.
But believe me, the best media player for iPhone is the built-in one!
The photo you showed us shows how Quick Time can convert videos and make them watchable on your iPhone.

Press the command and r keys when turning on your Macbook.  Do not release those keys until you see the apple logo...
Disk Utility will pop up.....Your choices are to reinstall, you will not lose anything....
if however, you decide to format/erase your drive, then reinstall, you will lose everything...
suggestion - back everything up and do a clean install.

  • How noisy is the Mac Pro?

How noisy is the Mac Pro - say compared to an iMac?

    Hello Pagemakers2,
First,I doubt you'll get a definitive answer to this kind of question because there's significant variability in the "intensity of use" among Mac Pro owners. I mean of course, some users need to run apps and process file types which naturally require more cooling of hard-running cpus and that will cause more fan noise.
I'm almost embarrassed to admit: the most "intense" task my Mac Pro handles (video encoding) uses only about 65% of processing capacity. So... I never hear the fans at all, the Mac Pro does not even put out "warm air" from the exhaust ports. I work in a quiet environment (home) where, sometimes, I have to play music on iTunes or at least turn on the tv in the next room - just to have a little background noise. Meanwhile, the fan in my eMac can be heard when I wake it from sleep - but never unpleasantly.
I'm pretty sure most users will agree: when idling (surfing the web, even running filters on big digital files with Photoshop™) the Mac Pro is pretty quiet.
Oh, another factor to consider is: Whether or not you run heavy apps with a heavy work load "continuously." I mean for example: running those video conversions may take a few minutes on the Mac Pro (Intel). But I may run one file to burn to DVD on any given day. (On average, less than once a day.)
Burning: the original Sony OPTIARC drive which came factory installed made "moderate noise" (for about 2-3 minutes of burn time) but the noise was "annoying." I replaced that with (eventually) two Samsung units: these both make audible noise, but it seems less and certainly doesn't annoy me like the Sony unit did.
Just to be clear: I didn't replace the Sony drive due to noise, I did so because that model didn't (1) handle DVD-DL and (2) I wanted DVD drives which provide the Lightscribe disk labeling software. The "more pleasant sound" was a bonus.

If you just got it back and it isn't fixed or something else is wrong with it take it back and have them do the repair correctly.
