  • Can't Install CS3 Extended from the Installation CD

System: PC and Windows Vista Home Premium.
    Problem:
Due to a conflict with Album DS I had to uninstall and reinstall CS Extended. However, when trying to re-install CS3 Extended:
    Background/Attempts to fix:
    - I can not launch the installation process from the program CD.
    - Nor can I explore the CD. It appears as if there are NO files on it but it uses 721MB.
    - Installation has no problem initiating on an XP laptop.
    - I just installed Turbo tax on the Vista PC in the same drive so its not the drive.
    - Right clicking on the Rom Drive in Windows Explorer gets me as far as the installation start screen. BUT when I click on this install button I get Specified file not found
    HELP!

I spent over an hour with Adobe Support to no avail. Tried:
    - different,external Rom Drive
    - tried a SECOND install DVD I received from Adobe last(and first)
time I tried to install CS3
    - a "modified start up" installation (disabled a bunch of things),
    - installing under a new account
    None of this worked.
What DID work was to copy the content of the install DVD onto my laptop then to a flash drive then onto my Vista system drive and install from there. I didn't even have to re-enter my serial number for some reason.
I never resolved the issue but I am now using CS3 again. Ouch.

  • Cannot install CS3 Extended - AT ALL.

I bought CS3 Extended for Mac at the Apple store.
Nevermind that I went in for CS4 Extended and had waited to buy that version - the person either didn't know the difference or didn't care, and someone else opened the box when I got home.  So I guess I'm screwed as far as taking it back for any exchanges.  =(
What's even worse: I can't get it to even LOAD an installation screen.  Nothing happens with installation at all!
When I load the disc into my Imac, the disc opens showing its folders.  But, I open the folders in that window, and I can't see a single application icon.  And of course, again, no installation screen let alone asking for serial number, etc.
I had tried to install this same disc on an older machine not long after I got it, and it sort of installed but would NEVER run.  It would have open, then crash.  I totally uninstalled and deleted that one long ago.
I thought it was the machine, that it was too weak to run Photoshop, even though it wasn't that old.
So I bought a top of the line Imac (the one with the TB HD) less than a month ago.  There is almost nothing on this one (I did install Norton).  WHY will CS3 not work!?
I'm upset at Apple for giving me the WRONG THING  (very busy in the store that day and I was exhausted and didn't notice, so my bad too but STILL) and I am upset at Adobe for apparently selling me a lemon of a disc.
What can I do?  Please, please, help.
    Thank you!!

    Hello All.
Thank you so much for all of your help.
I did attempt to log in again - between being ill, switching to a new machine, etc., (forgot my password; perhaps from feeling so drained) getting back to this thread was delayed. I had come back in and gone through pages til I found it but then could not seem to get logged in.
Dragging Norton to the trash icon did allow PS3 to install.  So, that's $40 wasted - and it was a download, so I can't even install it on my older machine if I wanted to.  I think Norton should put a warning on their website that it has a conflict with newer Macs.  Instead, it has a place to download their program and it has the OS mentioned there.  Clearly misleading. (As for exchanging PS3 for PS4, the return date has passed and someone else opened it before I noticed the error, so, I can't. But thanks for the support/suggestions there.)
Strangely enough Norton still tries to launch when I install system updates and such.  I admit I'm not the techiest person in the world so I imagine I will face hazing here from time to time.
But, not coming in right away could mean a number of things, 'drive by' or ungrateful poster least among them. In addition to other things we had two family members put into the hospital nearly at the same time, a teenage relative nearly die after being hit by a drunk driver (her two friends in the car DID die - one on impact, one later) as well as a very elderly relative put into the hospital right before her birthday with a possible operation looming now.
All this to say: please think before insulting someone for not coming right back in to thank people...it doesn't mean the help wasn't followed or appreciated it just means sometimes life gets in the way.
Now as soon as I can figure out how to award replies in this forum I have just joined, I will do so.  Promise!
Thank you for everyone who replied it's truly appreciated!!

  • How to install CS3 without cd?

My photo editing computer is on the fritz (bad motherboard, unfortunately) so I am left to temporarily use a reformatted 10 year old Dell Dimension onto which I am attempting to install CS3. It appears that both the CD and DVD drives on the old computer do not work. I attempted to contact online chat help through Adobe but it was completely unhelpful. Does anyone know how i can install CS3 any other ways? I have my original cd and activation key, I just can't use the cd drive. I also was told by the adobe "customer service rep" that they could not help me because I am using a version of photoshop that is not current. I think that is a bit ridiculous. They should be able to help regardless of the version I have. At any rate, does anyone have any ideas? I can't afford to purchase a new version, so that isn't an option.

I've run the microsoft fixit program for both drives. It says that updates were made however in both instances the drives are still not functional. I've tried updating the drivers manually, but that hasn't helped either. The OS was just freshly reinstalled, so everything is starting from scratch. The interesting thing is that the OS cd worked, however nothing else will (I've tried a few different cds). I'll try to copy the installer to a jump drive.

Question 1 – where did you buy it?
Question 2 – does your system meet the requirements?  (It doesn't sound like it!)
Intel Pentium 4, Intel Centrino, Intel Xeon, or Intel Core Duo (or compatible) processor
Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise (certified for 32-bit editions)
    512 MB of RAM
1 GB of available hard disk space (additional free space required during installation)
    DVD-ROM drive
1024 x 768 monitor resolution with 16-bit or greater video card
Some 3D features in Photoshop CS3 Extended require a DirectX 9 capable graphics card with at least 64 MB of VRAM

  • How to install CS3 without a disk

    Hello,
A few years ago I purchased Adobe Design Premium CS3. Since then I purchased CS4 Design Standard and recently on my new iMac Pro i installed CS5 Desin Standard.
I want to reinstall Dreamweaver, from my old Design Premium CS3 bundle, on my new iMac. I have the CS3 serial but not the install disk. I don't seem to find a CS3 download on the Adobe.com website. And is it even possible to install a CS3 Dreamweaver next to my CS5 Design Standard bundle?
    Sebastiaan

I have the CS3 serial but not the install disk. I don't seem to find a CS3 download on the Adobe.com website.
Old versions are not available for download, unless you purchased the download then you can re-download for up to 3 years.  Something important to note is that the installer for upgrades does not require the older version of the software to be installed on your computer.  As long as you have a valid serial number you should be able to install the program with the old serial number.
And is it even possible to install a CS3 Dreamweaver next to my CS5 Design Standard bundle?
Yes.  The only thing that cannot be done is running multiple versions of the same program at the same time, for instance Photoshop CS3 and Photoshop CS5.  They would be allowed to run separately but not at simultaneously.
One thing you should note is that DW CS5.5 is part of Design Premium Suite.  The $399 upgrade from your CS5 Design Standard would give you InDesign CS5.5, Photoshop Extended, Flash (Pro & Catalyst), Dreamweaver and Fireworks.

  • How to install CS3 Web Premium on Surface Pro?

The Surface Pro obviously doesn't have a DVD drive...so how do I install the software?  I tried a copy and paste in a USB memory stick, but it won't install without the disc.

if you dont have a usb dvd drive simply copy the disk contents onto a usb portable hard drive that can store the 15 odd gigs off the disks and then click the setup.exe file in the adobe cs folder. It worked for me on my surface pro. You might have to copy the disks' contents all into the same folders so there are no folder duplicates.

  • CS3 Extended trial when CS3 installed

I am wanting to trial CS3 extended on a system which already has CS3 installed. When I download the trial it does not attempt to install CS3 extended as a separate application but merely "repairs" the existing CS3 installation and does not give me an opportunity to trial CS3 extended!
How can I get CS3 extended trial to install as an additional but entirely seperate application?
To add a further complication the system is a windows 64bit. The current cs3 is installed but does not take advantage of 64 bit features and installs as a 32 bit application in C:\Program Files(86). I understand CS3 extended is meant to take advantage of 64 bit so clearly a seperate install into C:\Program Files is needed. The whole purpose of the trial is to see how well CS3 extended takes advantage of the Windows 64 bit OS.
Naturally I do not want the existing CS3 installation to be changed or in any way compromised by the trial.
    Thanks in advance for info

I registered here on the Adobe site in 2000 or the year before but my contacts with Adobe and a few of their old hands go back long before then.
I agree with your "flying F" comment and deeply regret the loss of direct contact with and responsiveness of the pre-"contracted out support" days. I agree that the "old engineers" appear to have been deterred from posting but IMHO that had little to do with Bobs analysis about negative comments by users when the forums got going. The pressure on the engineers not to contribute appeared to have more to do with their honesty and tendency not to contradict users who voiced legitimate grievances. This was not welcomed by management who seemed to me to have morphed the organisation from a user responsive outfit to a much more bunkered view of the world. To me the turning point came after the blistering Adobe received when, in the eyes of many users, they failed to respond quickly and efficiently to the introduction of firewire.
Since then response has IMHO gone down hill to the extent that they the response to legitimate user complaints is pretty poor. The way they responded over the misleading information about the differences between PS CSs and CS3 extended is a case in point. Most organisations would have at a minimum said OK if you are going to spend some more money with us then we will be v. happy to upgrade you from CS3 to CS3 extended rather say you have to pay full price for the extended version on top of paying for CS3. This is therefore a reasoned objection to what to me appears to be a grossly insensive way of dealing with a legitimate enquiry.
There are those hear who say it is not worth commenting here because only users hear what is being said.
I do not agree.. I understand the discussions here are carefully read by a team at Adobe HQ .. attention is only paid when enough voices speak with sufficient reason and clarity. So IMHO we should speak up responsibly here with the expectation that what we say will be listened to even when the listening is not publicly acknowledged!!
I also agree that plain ******** is destructive and should be discouraged.
There needs to be a clear understanding that as users we need Adobe's products and those of us who are long established users wish Adobe well. On the other hand Adobe do have a responsibility to be responsive to us and to clearly expressed reasonable needs.
I also believe there are those whose primary role here is to damp down expectations that what is said here may have an impact there. IMHO the PR should not be believed.

  • CS3 Extended activation error 194:8

So I bought a legit copy o photoshop
Albeit I bouhgt it from ebay, but it is definitely legit - not pirated , but a mfr sealed professionally produced copy of CS3 extended
I popped it open and found what I expected the documentation the DVD case with the training video and the serial number on the back.
I installed CS3 extended and plugged in my serial number and was greeted with a shiny green check mark (please note this is not just some generic photoshop liscence it is recognized by the software itself).
Then I began the activation nightmare that I am currently having.
    I clicked activate
    Activate now
Then I got an error telling me to pease try activating by calling customer care.
I did that I went through the automated system with m serial numberand activation key and then it said it was unable to process so I retried.  Still no luck, then I got a live person on the phone.
Here is what they told me:
You do not have a valid serial number...
Odd, I thought, since your software recognized it as a valid liscence.  I tried it in several other photoshop programs only to be greeted by a red x (liscence invalid) so the serial number I have is legit for photoshop CS3 extended, it just won't activate.
I tried to tell them that.  I asked them what proof they needed from me barcode copy of serial number scan of packaging anything.
They told me I needed the reciept from an authorized reseller.
I'm afraid I didn't see in the liscence agreement where the agreement between provider and end user was limited by their distributorship.
Thank you to me too for buyinga legitimate copy and not going with a free alternative (paint.net as been fine in the past thank you).
So I continued the discussion until I finally asked for a supervisor who was slightly more willing to talk about a way we could resolve the activation problem.
I am stuck getting the original reciept from the seller to prove to Adobe that their product was in fact original purchased from them.  You have to be kidding???!!!?!?!
It is unactivated so we aren't even talking about a liscence transfer this product is supposed to be registered to me.
And that still doesn't answer the question of how the serial number is recognized by the software and installation (meaning the serial to DVD matches) and the customer service people claim it is not valid.  I even asked them to tell me if it was a liscence used as a known pirated copy or something that should invalidate it, but all they can tell me is that it is not valid for the product.
If that is the case why print it on the label and affix it to the software?
On the other hand perhaps it is just a database error on their part.
What if I bought it from london drugs and lost the reciept how woul they handle that.
There has to be a way to fix it, or is it really that they are unwilling to do anything for a customer.

To quote from that particular forum:
    29. Mar 29, 2008 9:59 AM in response to: Bob Levine
Re: Thinking of buying from eBay?
Some of the pirated versions have a hacked activation and registration system that makes it look like it is being activated or registered with Adobe when it isn't. If you use the Adobe registration system, you will get a confirmation screen that says there will be a followup email with a free bonus (font or training video) -- although the email sometimes comes months later. Do you remember getting that screen and the email offer?
At least one f the two copies got that far, so what I am guessing is that one copy is a fake and one is legit, or there is a problem with legit copies printed in singapore due to piracy and or a mfr defect.
It still baffles me that accepting the liscence agreement activating the product and registering it do not gaurantee that it is in fact legitmate.  I think after all those hoops the ownes once again should lie with Adobe I did everything in good faith to ensure I have a legitimate copy.   (Sans buying from adobe or the local london drugs.)
Perhaps the seller will replace my "defective copy" or whatever you want to call it, or maybe in his batch of legitimate copies he did inadvertantly end up with a well produced pirated copy.
Still reading that forum.  I am very interested
And yes I did send an email to adob piracy containing as much info about the suspected "illegal" copy as possible.
I'm prepared to cover the bses and worst case scenario I file a dispute with paypal and then purchase a second copy directly from Adobe I am in any event entitled to educational liscenced products which save me a bundle as is.

  • Error while installing CS3

Everytime I try to install CS3 extended on my Vista PC I keep getting this error: "Internal Error 2739, contact Adobe". Any ideas what this might be? Thanks

  • Is cs3 Extended compatible with Windows 7?

Before installing cs3 extended onto my new computer, I was needing to know if it is compatible with Windows 7. I see that cs3 is compatible but what about the extended version?
It is a Windows Home Premium 64 bit version
    Thank you for your help,
    Crystal

If one is compatible, the other has to be, since it is the same app. The only difference is parts are hidden to those that pay for the standard version. So theoretically it is possible to pay to unhide the extra features, even though I have heard some have a hard time from Adobe when trying.
