How to install cs4 when on OS10.8.4

I have the original CS suites for the Mac, and have upgraded to CS4 on that system. I had to reinstall the OS and all applications but cannot get Adobe to accept the old serial number from the first version of CS, not can I install the original version of CS on on 10.8.4.; and I can't get the trial version to accept the old serial number.
How would one get CS and the CS4 upgrade installed when the original is not on the drive, by the way Adobe can't match the serial number?

Ok Dayton I would first verify your serial number is valid by verifying it is registered under your account.  Please see http://forums.adobe.com/message/3987968#3987968?promoid=KBHJW for information on how to locate your serial number under your account.
Once you have verified the serial number is valid then please try adjusting the file permissions for Library/Applications/Adobe folder.  You can find details on how to adjust the file permissions at Error "Exit 6" or "Exit 7" | Install log | Read, write, system file errors | CS5, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-exit-6-exit-7.html.
Finally if you are still receiving the error that the serial number is invalid.  Then please remove all installed Adobe applications and then remove the Library/Application Support/Adobe folder.
It is possible that file permissions on the Adobe folder could be causing you to receive an invalid serial number error.

  • How to install CS4 Design Premium on another computer, no internet or DVD drive available?

I was looking towards getting Adobe Design Premium CS4 installed on my Surface Pro, but it has no DVD drive, and my Wi-Fi connection isn't really fast. Actually, it'd take quite a while to download any big file, leading me to search for another alternatives (my other computer already has CS4 installed, both are Windows). Is there any way to install CS4 over at my Surface Pro, without the use of wi-fi nor any insanely complex procedure? :) Thanks.

Yeah. It didn't have a file extension, at least not one I could see, while all my other programs (.exe's, .zip's, .rar's, .mp4's, etc.) were displayed. I tried many things, but… I ended up just writing ".exe" at the end of the file name. Surprisingly, it worked perfectly.
    So, there's a few more questions I'd like to ask… :D
Can I install CS4 literally anywhere on the HDD/SSD? Like, even in my Documents? It's asking me to place a folder on my desktop, and to be honest, I don't want such folder there :( .
Can I delete the .7Z and the .exe when the installation is over? Or is that crucial to CS4's operation?
    Thanks, once again :)

  • How to install software when no finder?

I can't get Finder to open. It has been open just a few times since I upgraded to Lion and now I can't get it at all.
How do I install software when I can't move a file to the application folder via Finder?

    1) Why the search engine isn't working to find similar discussions, I don't know. I tried for 10 minutes to find this problem and nothing showed up until I posted my discussion. This is probably making all the problems look much bigger because we can't find prior discussions.
    2) After posting my discussion, other similar discussions were shown in the right sidebar. One suggested a Force Quit of Finder. When I did this, I discovered 7 or 8 windows of various Finder flavors were open, but none of them showed up on any of my screens (using Mission Control AND F9 to look at my other screens).
It seems that if too many windows of Finder are open, we can't open more? Makes sense to me, so I manually closed them all (the message that popped up from Force Quit did not close anything).
Now I can open Finder from the icon in the toolbar.
I waited to install Lion, but this the third bug that is eating my time. I guess I should have waited longer for some fixes to be posted.

  • How to install CS4 bought for windows, now to be installed on Mac

Hi, can anyone help me? I bought CS4 Design Standard for Windows and now I need to install it on my new Mac?

Creative Suite serial numbers have always been platform specific: Windows only or Mac only.
The only time you get to choose is at the point of sale.
After that swapping to another operating system requires a platform transfer process but that is only available for the current version (CS6)
Order product | Platform, language swap
In short, you're unfortunately stuck with CS4 for Windows.
Your options now are either to buy CS6 for Mac or join the Cloud. Or run Windows on your Mac via Parallels or Bootcamp or similar and install CS4 for Windows in that environment.
One of the features of Cloud software is that it can be used interchangeably on Mac and/or Windows at any time without any platform swapping processes or paperwork.

  • How to install cs4 on new computer without disks?

Originally purchased CS4 in 2009 by download, not disk, and want to move it to a new computer (Windows 7). Can't find a file on Adobe.com to download, install, and activate. Adobe website says no chat or phone support for a product that old. Help, please?

Download the trial version from http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
Ensure that you follow the Very Important Instructions on that page before clicking the download link otherwise the link will not work.
When you launch the trial, enter your serial number to license it.

  • How to install Leopard when disc drive is broken

Because the inbuilt CD/DVD drive has broken I use an external disk drive via USB (a LaCie d2). The Leopard install disc reads perfectly well from the LaCie drive (as you would expect) but when (at the very beginning of the install process) it prompts a Restart, the system simply restarts using the old OSX software instead of booting up from the Leopard install disc in the external LaCie drive. I guess this is because it only looks on the hard drive and the in built (now broken) CD/DVD drive. Does anyone know the best way of getting the install to work?
    Thanks John

You can obtain an external hard drive with a Firewire port & clone the Leopard installer disc or restore an image of it to that drive. (Simply copying files won't work because that will not create a bootable disk.) You cannot copy
For more info on creating disk images & restoring them to other disks, see the Leopard help topic on your Mac, "*Restoring a disk or disk image to another disk*" & the topics it links to, like "*Restoring a disk image to a disk*." For more info on cloning, check out products like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!.
You cannot use your existing internal hard drive as a substitute for an external one unless you can partition it so that the clone or restored image is on a separate partition from the normal one you wish to install Leopard on (the installer cannot install the OS to the partition it is running from). While it is possible to do "live" partitioning to a drive that already contains files, it is advisable to back up the existing partition to other media first because there is always a chance that something will go wrong in the partitioning process, leaving you without those files. Since you need an external drive to best do this anyway, I don't recommend this approach.
However, since you really should have an external drive for backups whether or not you are installing the new OS, you can combine this with the installer disc clone/restored image as follows:
    1. Get a nice big Firewire external drive, say 500 GB or greater. These are pretty cheap these days. You should be able to find many suitable ones in the $80 to $150 range. As an example, a search of Amazon shows over 200 entries in the less than $200 range. Many are 'combo' units with USB, Firewire, & possibly other ports like e-SATA. For future needs & maximum flexibility you may wish to consider one of those; just make sure the one you choose has a Firewire port & can boot a Mac.
    2. Before putting the drive into service, use Disk Utility to partition it into two or more volumes. One of them just needs to be a bit bigger than the total capacity of the installer disc, say 10 GB. Make this the last volume of the drive & you can delete it later if you wish but you probably will want to keep it around for future installs.
    3. Use the above method to create the bootable version of the installer disc on this partition, restart from it using the option key method to invoke the Startup Manager, & install the new OS on the internal drive from it.
As a side benefit, since disk drives are much faster than DVD's, the startup & installation process will be faster than from the DVD.

  • How to install CS4 on Mountain Lion successfully?

Whenever you insert Disc 1 of Adobe CS4 and run the setup, you will see a gray screen pop up "preparing for setup". Typically after this screen, you will get to the usual selection screen of what components to be installed as well as prompt for serial number. However, in Mountain Lion and some Lion machines, CS4 will be stuck at the gray screen "preparing for setup" and be frozen at the last 7/8 of the bar. I do notice a disk partition being mounted and disappear, but then again, that was in Lion. Mountain Lion just refuse to load the selection screen for installation.

Sorry, I know this is an old thread, but I ran into the same problem, and my search brought me here. I finally figured out the issue. If you've tried installing and had the AIR error, and you've downloaded the latest version of AIR like you're instructed to do, then you try running the install again, it will treat it like a custom installation. You have to scroll down through the programs on the right hand side of the window and select the programs you want to install. Deselect Adobe AIR, Acrobat.com, and Adobe Media Player (they can be downloaded separately later), but select everything else, then click "Install". It should get you past the "Preparing for setup" screen - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/installation-creative-suite-4-or.html

  • How to install firefox, when trying says previous version detected must reboot. Stuck in infinite loop

Trying to install newly downloaded firefox (had previously removed about a month ago through programs uninstall), however when I try to run the install, it says a previous version is detected, and the system must reboot. System reboots, but install never happens, I go to run the download again, and it appears I'm stuck in an infinite loop. I can't get latest version firefox to install

I succeeded in installing Firefox after getting this message.
I went to add/remove programs to verify that Firefox wasn't on the list, then I went to the program files directory and deleted the Mozilla/Firefox directory that was left over from the uninstall.
I attempted to reinstall Firefox and, voila, it installed with no issues.
I know it can be dangerous to delete a program directory, but if you have properly uninstalled the program itself and it isn't in the add/remove list (but still exists in the program directory), deleting the parent directory for the program should affect system performance.
I have done this dozens of times over the years and never had a problem (I have NEVER deleted a system directory though. That would be a BAD idea).
    I hope this helps.

  • How to install CS2 when already have CS PS4, 5, LR2 & Reader 9?

Feb 28, 2010- I had CS2 Premium on my old laptop.  I'd updated to PS 3 and then to PS 4 (standard). Then my LT crashed.  I now have a desktop: Quad processer, 64-bit, 8 GB ram, two hard drives (C: 1 TB and D: 2 TB).
I've installed PS 4 & 5, Reader 9 and Lightroom 2, and now find I need InDesign for a newsletter.
How can I install all of the CS2 Premium files (except PS) without damaging my current Adobe program files?  CS 2 came on four discs, with two "Extras", so I can't tell which ones have which program.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to install solaris when having no physical access to the machine

    Hi,
I administer a Dell PowerEdge 2950 server with Windows Server 2003. The machine is in a rack located in a datacenter which I do not have any physical access to.
As most of server's systems are working on the Java platform, I'm interested in migrating to Solaris 10, however, it is not clear for me how can I do that.
I have full access to several machines in the office where I work and they have varied OSes (windows, mac, solaris). It seems to me that those machines are in a different subnet than the server (subnet masks are not the same). Also their Ip addresses are given dinamically (DHCP) whist the server's address is fixed (static). Currently, I can use any of these machines to open a remote desktop session to the Dell server.
Can I install solaris on that server taking into account the facts mentioned above? If so, how? using a network-based installation?
As the driver for the RAID controller is not bundled with the installation media, would it be still possible to apply the driver before beginning the installation (option 5. Apply driver updates)?
Hope you can suggest me something or shed some light on this.
    Thank you

if you have 2 servers next to each other at datacentre, get somebody there to drop a install dvd into server you want to install it
next wire serial cable from 1 server to the other soon to be solaris server
and that's as good as it gets

  • How to resolve message "Installer database is corrupt" when trying to install CS4 on Win 8.1?

I purchased a disk set of CS4 a few years back and have recently purchased a new computer. When trying to install CS4 on the new computer, I received an error message saying "Installer database is corrupt. Please contact Adobe Customer support." Called "customer support" and after a VERY long time and three transfers, I was told "Too bad, we can't help you. Maybe download a new copy?" So I did. When trying to install the fresh download, I received the exact same error message: "Installer database is corrupt. Please contact Adobe Customer support." This appears to be a conflict between the CS4 installer database and Win 8.1. Is this a known issue? How do I resolve it? Thanks for any assistance. ~Evey
