How to install DB server??

Hi, there,
I'll install a new dell server as DB server,os is
win2000,DB is Oracle9i,'coz Oracle DB need to segregate all tablespaces into different separate disk,so how do i
configure the raid,disk array,disk container,and disk controller? I have 5 disks,can i assign driver "C:" to
first disk,drive "D" to second disk,drive "E" to third disk,....??
Any idea will be welcomed,thanks a lot!!!

How to install owb server-side software on UNIX Solaris (SPACR-64)?
I've read the install guide
and it mentions
3. Start the installer by entering the following at the prompt:
cd mount_point
./runInstaller
I don't have access to any graphical interface on the UNIX box e.g. x-windows nor any cd with the software, just the solaris software downloaded from web - does this include the runinstaller
and is the runisnatller just a command line interface?
I hoped I would be able to download the software from oracle website and then simply run the a setup scrip?
Is it possible to do this? Would I simply substitute cd mount_point to cd <directory I put software)
I've never ran oracle universall installer on UNIX before.

Hi,
You can install the server-side software from the downloaded software.
You don't need the CD
You do need an X-windows client on your computer to connect to the server OR work directly on the server.
Without X-windows you cannot start the Oracle Universal Installer.
Maybe there is a command line installation, I have never used this.

Yes, they can. They installed in different directories and you have to use different ports.
AFAIK for HTTP for APEX is either part of the installation (eg. in the Oracle Express Edition) or part of the Oracle Installation CDs. For more information see the Oracle Installation Documentation.

Hi, I bought a new PC with preinstalled Windows 8. Now I need to install Windows Server 2008. Anyone can advise me how to
do it? It has to be in dual boot, in Virtual Machine the display is way too small

You should check out the Boot-to-VHD capability.
Here is how we do it in a lab environment which we got from a Microsoft lab:
-Verify your computer is running Windows 7 or later.
-Verify you have full administrator rights to your currently installed operating system.
-Verify hard disk encryption or other pre-boot security is turned off.
-Confirm that hardware virtualization technology and memory protection are both enabled in your computer's BIOS setup.
Now we just setup the a VHD with an operating system on it (can even use a downloaded server 180 day trial VHD if you are in a rush). Then go to Disk Management and select Attach VHD and point to the file. Note the drive letter that is assigned to the
mounted VHD.
Run a command prompt as administrator and type: " bcdedit /export BCDBackup.bak " to create an exported backup of your boot loader configuration. Now type bcdboot [drive]:\windows.
Now to test your dual-boot configuration, restart your computer and select the new OS boot option.
An optional last step would be when complete to restore your boot loader by running "bcdedit /import BCDBackup.bak" and delete any VHD files.

hi, i'm very new to Sun server.Sorry if i dont know anything about it. But now i have to install Windows Server 2003 on this Sunfire x4150 server. How can i do that? I've try to install but it give me error about the driver.

1. Can i install both Sun Os (Solaris?) and Windows Server together? If cant, can i format the Solaris OS and install a fresh Windows?
2. OR actually i should install inside a Virtual Machine?

Might be a bit late for you, but if this helps anyone else, good.
I had the same issue with an X4600 lately. You need to download the Sun Installation Assistant cd and boot from it to install anything other than Solaris. This cd is similar to the ones that Compaq andDell sendout with their servers. It will do a semi automatic install after you give it the information about the os, set up disks, etc.
Easy to do, search the sun support site for the SIA image particular to your hardware.

Guys - I am in the mid of installing OBIA v7963 on linux x64 . And right now I am doing the DAC server installation part .

This is how it is done in our environment . My question is : why does the installation guide say nothing about this easy way of installing it ? And how

Windows 10 running on VirtualBox 4.3.18.
Setup in not started without any messages.
There is no Setup.exe in Task Manager.
There is no errors in Windows Logs (Event Viewer).
There is no any SQL Server folders in Program Files or Program Files (x86).
Compatibility with Windows 7, 8 doesn't help.
Was tested english versions:
SQL Express 2008 R2 SP1 x64, SQL Express 2008 R2 SP1 with Tools x64,
SQL Express 2014 x64, SQL Express 2014 with Tools x64.
How to install any version of SQL Express?

When I run sql setup on fresh windows it started normally.
If run .net setup when sql setup already running it's OK.
But if you exist from sql setup (or not run it) and install .net in Windows Components it's impossible to run SQL setup.
