How to install FaceTime in Lion

I deleted facetime in Lion and now I can't install it again from the app store! what can I do?

I backup all my app I purchased to a zip into my dropbox, afraid that I might lost them as I did with my Itune app purchase in the past.
I did the following:
1. Delete all trace of facetime using appcleaner just to find out that ichat is hook up with some of the facetime.plist. So I did a "secure empty trash" that took a while to remove everything from the trash.
then redownload the facetime app only to find out my Mac OS X is to new.
2. I pull the back up Facetime App out of the dropbox 1.0.2 and put in the application folder only to find it wont find the camera and wont update because the version of Mac OS X is too new.
3. I try updating the key as said in some forum. adding the V1 in facetime registration and account. and try downloading it from app store it still doesn't work.
4. I will try changing the host file which some people was talking about but I dont know where to find it.
Now i feel like it a bit early to download Lion since they haven't update all their app for it, I shouldn't be frustrated.

Guys thank you so much for the advises and helps.. i went back to Extra store and finally they changed my unit to a new one..Now i can figured out which one has facetime or none, from the box itself at back  it writtens arabic so definetely no facetime and if english, portugese and chinese characters has 100 % with facetime.. I'm so blessed that they agreed to changed my unit to new one. At first the manager opened  four boxes of new unit for me to check if facetime is there and he reassured me there's new batch of iphone5 coming on 2nd day. So i went back and he changed it to new one.. .Now im satisfied..

  • How to install or replace lion on Mac OS X Leopard simultaneously reinstall time machine backup of  OS X Leopard

Hi, I am new or know nothing about Mac Mini which I received from relative as gift along with few software including lion OS.
I want to install lion after time machine backup of current files Mac OS X 10.6.8.
MY question is that backup of Mac OS X 10.6.8 can be installed or copied on newly installed Lion software.
    Thanks in anticipation.

Only third-party applications and the user's admin folder. Since Lion succeeds Snow Leopard, you cannot restore the system software without first erasing the drive. That means you must have the Snow Leopard installer DVD.
I would simply upgrade the Snow Leopard system with Lion:
How to Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Successfully - You must have Snow Leopard 10.6.7 or 10.6.8 Installed
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.3.) if DW cannot fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall Snow Leopard.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
      1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
      5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to
          the Destination entry field.
      6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Source entry field.
      7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the backup volume. Source means the internal startup volume.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
      1. If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before
installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the
update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is
          complete and you've restarted.
      2. You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-
party system software modifications, or if you have modified the
operating system through other means. (This does not apply to
          normal application software installation.)
      3. The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or
other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone
installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the
installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. To upgrade to Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks:
      1. Purchase the Lion/Mountain Lion Installer from the Mac App Store.
The download should start quickly. Lion is nearly 4 GBs so a fast
internet connection is essential. Download time could run upwards of 4
hours depending upon network conditions and server demands at the
time. Note that Mavericks is FREE.
      2. The installer will run automatically after the download is completed.
Click on the Install button to begin the upgrade.
      3. Follow instructions for installation.
    Also see:
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
    B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

What is it that you are exactly trying to do? Are you now trying to install Lion or are you trying to create yourself a bootable copy of lion?
Either way it looks like you have it wrong. If you have a bootable copy of Lion then the file should have been InstallESD.dmg, which you should then mount on your desktop and install or boot from and then install that way. If you are creating a bootable disk, then you should have the InstallESD.dmg file on your desktop then open Disk Utility. Drag the .dmg file to disk utility in the white space on the left hand side. Once it is there then simply select it and then chose to burn and follow the directions.

  • How to install yosemite on lion server without server application

I have osx 10.7.5  (that's all it says when I click about this app, but I know the computer was installed with lion with server app originally).  I don't need nor want the server app, and am happy to remove it one way or another.  Server is currently disabled.  I want to know how to upgrade to mavericks or yosemite without any server aspect at all.  Can it be done?  I have googled until my head has exploded and am none the wiser.  Most people seem to be unsuccessful.  I did previously try to install mavericks when it came out but it came up with some random scary message and I cancelled it.
Both my mac mini 2011 disks are in use  for different reasons - one tends to be more operational such as the operating system and apps, the other to save all my photos, videos and files mainly.   I have a separate ext hard drive for time machine back ups.
I have no tech skills whatsoever, so baby language please.  Be specific.  Outline EVERY step in simple language.  Or I will cry!
    Thanks!
    Jodi

There's nothing special you have to do. Just upgrade. The Server app won't come back.

  • How to install OS X Lion?

After downloading OS X Lion, I can't install it.  Macintosh HD and Bootcamp appear, but the system won't let me click on ether.  Solution?

How much free drive space do you have? Having downloaded the installer, you'll need about 10GB free on the partition you want to use. My first guess is that you don't have enough space. Alex's suggestion of resizing the partiton would work but it could be just a matter of removing a few things - maybe shifting some music or a movie file or two onto another drive temporarily.

  • How re-install OS X Lion fresh without disks?

Something is wrong with programs or something on my Mac and I want to completely wipe the hard drive and start over with a fresh copy of Lion.  I did a Time Machine backup last night and will then just bring over files one at a time from that external drive as needed.
On someone's suggestion, I held down the Alt/Option key when powering on and chose the option to re-install the OS.  It said it would take 5+ hrs so I let it run through the night.  But this morning I still saw all of my icons, settings, etc.  I want to COMPLETELY start fresh.
How can I do this, please.. especially with no disks?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi rcook349,
id suggest doing as Colin mentioned, and then some:
    1. Using the reformat the drive option
    2. Installing fresh from your original OS disks (you mention you want to install without the disks, but the Lion.app upgrade file is an application which requires a base install - Im not sure how to make this install file bootable)
    3. Running the Lion upgrade
    4. Running the TimeMachine restores
Below is a link to a step by step (fresh) reinstallation guide for Snow Leopard:

  • Possibly re-install FaceTime on Lion?

    Hello
I have been using Facetime since it cam built-in my MacBook the time I bought it. Lately, I have experienced problems with it; so I decided to re-install it. I used AppZapper to remove it. And now I realized I did a mistake! Because the AppStore version will not work for me since it is meant to be used by Snow Leopard users. I searched the web for a Lion version but I could not find it! What shall I do? and I'm not willing to re-install the whole system for the sake of a single application. Can you please help? Possibly give me a link to a Lion version of FaceTime? Or maybe upload your own?
    Thank you,
    Faisal

    There is no app. Settings>Phone>FaceTime>On.
