How to install final cut studio on yosemite?

Guys,
Before I start my next video project, I want to do a clean install of Yosemite and also a clean install of Final Cut Studio with FCP 7. I'm running a Mac Pro, 2.26 quad core (2009).
What's the best way to do this?
I know some people have had problems installing FCP7 on Yosemite. Just to play it safe, I'm currently partitioning my drive and will install a boot version of Yosemite to try the FCS install on. If all goes well, I'll totally wipe the drive and install Yosemite.
If things don't work out, I'll wipe the partition and stick to Mavericks.

Insert the DVD.
Click on the installer package.
Follow the on screem instructions.

  • Can i install Final cut studio 5 and DVD Studio Pro 4 on OSX lion

Is any body who can help me on giving me some direction on how to install Final Cut Studio 5.1 and DVD Studio Pro 4 on my OSX Lion, if it's doable. Thanks

The easiest way is to install Rosetta from a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD first.
There's also a way of doing it via Terminal that's been posted here a couple of times. A search should bring that up.

  • How can I install Final Cut Studio 2 on my new MacBook Pro with Lion?

I just purchased and received a new 15" MacBook Pro (non-retina) last week. I need to install Final Cut Studio 2 on this computer. I have researched this and found that I need to install Rosetta from the Snow Leopard DVD in order to do this. This is the first Mac I've bought ( although I've been working with them for years), so I don't have a Snow Leopard DVD. I am a high school teacher and we use FCS 2 for my classes so buying FCP X is not a viable option for me since I teach FCP 6. The iMacs we use in school run Leopard and were never upgraded to Snow Leopard (budget cuts and all), so I can't even borrow one from my district.
Does anyone know how I can obtain Rosetta? Or another way to install this without it?
    Thank you ! :)

There is no way to add Rosetta support because it is not supported by OS X Lion at system level. This has been documented before the release of OS X Lion by itself.
If you really need Final Cut Studio 2, I would return your computer if possible, and purchase a Mac that is capable of running Snow Leopard (all 2010 models, early 2011 MBP and some other 2011 models)

  • Imac won't let me install Final cut studio 2..it will let me install the upgrade, but it has no live type and i need it to work on my current projects. How do I get Live type back installed in iMac

I just purchased an iMac for home and went to install final cut studio 2 and it gave me an error saying something about "PowerPC" not used or something like that. Installed the studio upgrade just fine...but it has no "Live Type" which I need to work on projects I have been using in my Mac Pro at my work place. How do I get "Live Type" to install in this iMac? Downloaded Live Type upgrade but that won't update cause there's no "Live Type" in the applications.

It sounds like you have Lion installed on your new imac, although your profile says SL 10.6.8 (you may want to change this.)
If you have the Snow Leopard install disc I believe you can install "Rosetta" from the extras folder which will then, if you have the original FCS2 discs , allow you to select and install Live Type and LIve Type content only from the custom install options.
I hope this will work for you.

  • I have installed Final Cut Studio 3 on my laptop. I want to sell it, how do I transfer ownership?

I have installed Final Cut Studio 3 on my laptop. I want to sell it, how do I transfer ownership?

Ownership of what? The laptop, Final Cut Studio, or both? If you mean FCS, either with the laptop or separately, you need to give the purchaser (this from the End User License) "all of the Apple Software, including all its component parts, original media, printed materials and this License".  You don't need to transfer ownership of the laptop, per se, though if you have AppleCare on it you should transfer that coverage to the new owner of the laptop.

  • 7 Hours to Install Final Cut Studio 2??

I just installed Final Cut studio 2 on my Brand New Mac Pro and it took 7 hours... I installed it on my other Mac Pro back in May and it maybe took maybe an hour. I was just going to ask and see if this was normal or if I should be concerned. I have also put a black magic card in the machine and run into some issues with that as well.
Thanks for any thoughts you may have.

Here's the trick you NEED to know.
Once you know how to do this you will never again need to waste an entire evening inserting DVD's.
    1) Make disk images of all your DVD's using Disk Utility. Be sure to save them as DVD/CD Master in the Image Format dialogue box, with no compression added. Save all the disk images to an external drive if possible. Final Cut Pro users all have big external drives, but in a pinch this would work off an internal drive if you have the space.
    2) Mount all of the DVD copies on your desktop, all of them at one time. This assumes you have ample memory, which if you are running Final Cut Pro you'd better have.
    3) Start the install. Select your options. Then watch the magic as your Mac loads the DVD copies on your desktop until the process is done. It's that easy.
It takes a while to make the disk images, but once you have them saved to your external drive you can use them again when you get a new machine or need to reinstall for any reason. This works with Logic Studio as well as the Adobe suites- I've used this process for years. In the old days we used this process for floppies; works just as well with CD's and DVD's. Once you try it you will be dedicating an external drive to software installer disk images.
    Cool, or what?

  • Unable to install Final Cut Studio 2.0

I had the previous version of FInal Cut Studio and just purchased Final Cut Studio 2. I chose to uninstall Final Cut Studio first by dragging all the studio programs to the Trash figuring I didn't want to chance having two versions of Final Cut Studio on my computer.
I then went in to install Final Cut Studio 2. It allowed me to install the items such as Motion Content, LiveType, Audio Content, Studio Pro, etc. The option for selecting Final Cut Pro was greyed out and said skip. I don't know why but it's like it already thought it was on there and would just upgrade it. I tried it several times but always had this same set of options.
I went on then and did an install of Final Cut Studio hoping that when it came to installing it would actually work right. Well it installed all the supporting programs but not Final Cut Pro. How can I properly install the whole suite?

The FinalCut Suite 5 I'm running is misbehaving so before I install the new FinalCut Pro 6 Suite, I'd like to uninstall all of FCP Suite components and _all of their settings and customizations_. How do I make sure the new install is _absolutely clean and nothing from the previous installation effects it?_
    Thanks,
    Uri

  • Re installing Final Cut Studio on my NEW Mac pro?

I originally purchased Final Cut Studio (on a G5 Power PC), Then installed the universal crossgrade,
then installed Final Cut Studio 2. Now I have a New Mac Pro (Intel Chips) How do I go about
reinstalling FCS? do I need the original serial key from the first version or do I just use my
    FCS 2 serial Key?
    J>H<L

    J>H<L
You'll need both keys, but you only have to do one installation.
The FCS2 installer will ask for the FCS2 key. If that passes, another window will open asking for the FCS key. If that key passes, then it's just a normal installation.

  • Problems installing Final Cut Studio on my new Macbook Pro

I just got my new 17 inch Macbook Pro, and am trying to install Final Cut Studio 3.  It installed just fine, and accepted the serial number.  The problem is that every time I open the application, I have to reenter the serial number.  Once I do that, it runs fine, but the next time, I have to reenter the info again.  Anyone have an idea of how to fix this?
    Rob Krampf

do some searching here.  I remember other people having this problem.  You might also try repairing permissions on your startup drive, deleting your fcp preferences

And creating a new account in system preferences:  accounts.

  • Need Help Installing Final Cut Studio Version 2.0.1 on Macbook Pro

I am trying to install an old version of Final Cut Studio (Final Cut Studio Version 2.0.1) on my macbook pro (OS X Mountain Lion). When I tried to install it, it said, "power pc applications not supported on this computer". I was told to "uninstall" OS X on my computer, install Final Cut Studio, and reinstall OS X Mountain Lion again. Is this true? If so, how do I do this?

There is a "bug" in the installer application of Final Cut Studio Pro 2 that will fail to work in Lion or Mt. Lion; it will work successfully in Snow Leopard and a subsequent upgrade to Lion or Mt. Lion after the successful installation of FCSP2 will continue to work.
Once Mt. Lion is installed you can use one of these two methods to install FCSP2:
    1)  Pacifist
    2)  Jeremy Johnstone's Terminal method:
