How to install global extensions in FF4 ?

Hi,
I just downloaded FF4 RC and it looks like it is no more possible to install global extensions by dropping xpi files in FF install directory (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\extensions on Windows).
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Drop the XPI's into the \extensions\ folder in Firefox program files.

Firefox 4 no longer extracts XPIs when installing extensions. It just places the XPI file in the user profile, and then reads the chrome files and others directly out of the XPI.
If your .xpi is not from Mozilla addons I guess we may not be sure what it is intended to do, or what version of Firefox it was designed for.

How to install .xpi extension through installjammer in firefox?

You have not given details of your OS, version of Firefox, or what you are actually installing. Presumably you intend developing and distributing something for Firefox, and installing this using installjammer

  • How to silently install global extensions

I know how to install extensions globally. I've gotten that far with this. What I need is for it to NOT prompt a user to accept the extension installation when they launch firefox.
I am on windows 7 using firefox 17, but I need to implement this on windows server 2008 using firefox 16.

That is not possible. A user always needs to confirm installing a new extension.

Yes I found this page before, but when you dig in you find
    that
Extension Manager does not work with zip files and adds the

A search for 'zip' in these help files returns 'nothing

  • How to install PMD extension for JDEV 11g TP4 ?

    Hi,
I tried to install PMD extension to JDEV 11g TP4 without success.
Check for updates doesn't bring this extension.
Tools --> Preferences --> extension brings following message:
The ide.extensions or ide.noextensions system properties are set and override user extension preferences. To configure extensions, unset these properties and restart.
Release notes of JDev 11g TP4 says:
In this release, users are unable to manage extensions from the Tools > Preferences, Extensions page. The user will instead see the following message:
The ide.extensions or ide.noextensions system properties are set and override user extension preferences. To configure extensions, unset these properties and restart.
Is there a other way to add this extension?
    regards

  • How to install my Extensions to PS CS6

    Hello all,
After previously owning Photoshop CS6, I finally had the chance to acquire the entire Creative Suite. When downloading I didn't bother to re-install PS CS6 thinking that I already had it. However, I forgot that I now have the Master Collection which includes the Extensions for the app.
Do any of you know how I can add that on to the program? Do I have to uninstall/re-install PS CS6 to get it?
Any good advice would be a great help.
    HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

you want to use extensions in ps cs6 or you want to install ps cs 6 extended?
if the former, download the extension manager, if it's not already installed:  http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/em6_download.html
if the latter, uninstall cs6 and install cs6 extended.

  • How to install an extension for "all users"

I want to install a quantity of extensions for ALL users of FF on a PC running XP. There used to be a way of doing this but I have forgotten the method.
I know to save the .xpi file for each extension, and that there is some folder in a common area where these files are placed so that each User gets them installed the next time they run FF

  • How to install IDM extension on Firefox beta versions?

which IDM extension can be installed on Firefox beta versions?

That would be a question for IDM - but from what I have been reading in this forum, it seems that IDM is slow at supporting new Firefox '''release''' versions lately, so I doubt if they support the beta pre-release versions at all.
Take a look at this add-on, it supports three Firefox versions coming in the future, already - Beta, Aurora, and Nightly channel support. <br />

  • How to Install Extension Globally in Windows 2008 R2

    Hi there,
I have multi user environment using Windows 2008 R2. Now we need to install a FF Extension Globally. We already tried several methods located in lots of websites but none of the methods solved our problem. We try to use the switch -install-global-extension method and we tried to extract the package ID, create a folder with that ID, and extract the content of XPI file to that folder. None of does works. Can someone help me on this?
    Using FF 32.0.3
    Thanks

  • How to install a local (not global) extension for firefox as part of a desktop setup program.

    Hey Folks,
I am working on a desktop application and as part of that applications install, if we detect that firefox is installed, we want to install an extension we wrote. For the firefox upgrade urls to work in the future we seem to need to install the plugin as a local plugin. Therefore the following does not work:
    firefox.exe -install-global-extension extension.xpi
My question is, what is the correct way to install this plugin as a local extension for the current user?
If this is not possible and we have to install our plugin as a global extension as show above, we run in to the following problem.
    1. Let's say firefox 3.6 is installed and we install our extension as a global extension, it works fine
    2. Now, The user updates to firefox 4, it detects our plugin needs an update to work with firefox 4
    3. The firefox update code runs into an error when trying to update the global extension. We get a very generic error saying there was a problem updating the addin.
I should also note that for reasons not important to this thread we have to host the extension on our own servers and not as part of mozilla.

The command line switch -install-global-extension is no longer supported in Firefox 4.
