How to install Hotfix without the need to administrative rights

Hello All,
I have Hotfix in .msu format and want to install on clients without the need to admin privileges and silently using SCCM.
For that i have made the batch file to make it silent install, and created the package with batch file, but it prompts the users to enter the credentials. How can i do that ?? Without intervene of administrator and silently.
Second, there is option while configuring to "RUN as User" or "RUN with Administrator".
How do you define this??? Specially Run with Administrator?? Which admin account it will use and where it is mentioned in configuration or package.
Thanks
REGARDS DANISH DANIE

How to install Xp without the DVD? Is there anyway to get the drivers that are to be installed from the dvd after installing Xp?
I really need to use Autocad and Rhino on my Macpro, so Parallels or VMware fusion is not an option. I am already using VMware fusion on my Macbook pro, but VMware will not use 4g RAM of my Macpro which means it would be hard to run Rhino.
By the way, I am planning to buy Windows (I am sooooo ashamed to install that self-messed up OS on my Macpro. but so what,,, Autocad and Rhino do not run on Mac, and I need specifically the two programs). XP with sp2, sp3, or vista. which one is the best option?
Since my Macpro has only One 2.8GHZ Quad-Core Intel Xeon, there is no need to buy XP professional? (XP home doesn't support multi-processors, and XP Pro does, I guess?)

VMware Fusion uses only 512 RAM maximum, doesn't it? But you said it will use my entire 4GB RAM but only 2 cores. That's something different from what I've known.
If fusion really uses 4gm RAM of my mac pro, I don't really have to use Boot Camp. But most people who need to run heavy programs in Windows choose Boot Camp because it's the only way to use a Mac just like a PC, meaning that the XP uses the entire RAM memory.
XP will only use 2 GB of RAM, no matter how much the system has.
I just found out that Rhino doesn't really work on Vista. So vista is ruled out.
Only Vista 64-bit recognizes all system RAM.

  • How to install JRE without the registry

I am on a win2k system. I cannot install the sun 1.4.2 JRE as I dont have sufficient privileges on my comp. Is there any way to install it bypassing the registry?
Later on I can work by including JAVA_HOME/bin in my path.

    I am on a win2k system. I cannot install the sun 1.4.2
JRE as I dont have sufficient privileges on my comp.Depends on what you mean by "install".
You can just copy a JRE directory into some location that you can write to, and run the java there by invoking your_location/bin/java. The JRE itself has no use for the registry, and doesn't care where it's installed. It doesn't even have to be on the PATH: it figures out where it's installed by looking at argv[0] and loads up the environment from there.
On the other hand, if you are firing off an Internet Explorer or other browser, and somehow expect it to find your JRE for <applet> tags, it can't do that unless you install the JRE into the registry itself.

  • How to install windows without the cd drive?

    Hello,
I have a 2009 iMac that I want to install Windows 7 on. I have both a Windows 7 iso and a Windows 7 DVD. However, my cd drive is a mess, and upon trying to install Windows 7 from the DVD, the installation failed miserably 3 times at expanding windows files 0%. From there it just freezes for more than an hour and then gives me an error.
Now, my Bootcamp Assistant has an option to create a windows 7 install disk, but unfortunately it is greyed out.
My question to you guys: Is it possible to install Windows 7 on the iMac without using the cd drive?
I am using Lion, if that is helpful. Also, the Windows 7 DVD works fine, as I have already installed Windows on my 2011 iMac from it.
    Thanks!

I'm in a similar situation. Attending an online university and I need to use Access. But of course, Microsoft doesn't make a Mac version. I can get Windows through the university discount program, but only as a downloadable .iso file and a verification key. My drive works fine, I just don't have an actual CD/DVD to put in there.

You don't. Email comes in either by push or when you invoke the email app. Ther is no password except when you first set up the account. If your iPad is not being used as your personal device and you need to shield emails from other users, then don't use the email app.  Instead, use web mail if available from your provider.

  • How to trigger Bookmarks (Safari) syncing without the need to merge??

I found that my bookmarks were out of sync on my home Mac (although iCloud was active), after I did some sorting and cleaning on the office Mac. Since I found no other way (wait or reboot did not help), I did deactivate and then re-activate bookmarks syncing in Preferences => iCloud => Safari. This DID trigger syncing, BUT (after I was offered the option to cancel or to merge) the result was that now the sorting and cleaning work I did before was lost. In fact, it was worse because of the merge in two directions.
    So the question is:
What can one do to force syncing in a way that avoids the merge?
It is really stupid that there is no option (like with MobileMe) to select the sync direction. Or did I miss that?

OK, you are correct, but this is only due to the phrasing of my last comment and not because of the quality of iCloud syncing. MobileMe was MUCH better in this respect! It DID offer the option to overwrite the data WITHOUT the need to manually delete before.
In addition, this was not the core point.
The main point is that iCloud for (at least to me) unknown reasons did stop performing its job for the bookmarks that were synced before.
I would like to know if there is an option to trigger syncing, without the need to delete manually, and then switch of and on again.
    Again, the question is:
What can one do to force syncing in a way that avoids the merge?

  • I have an ipod touch 4g. I want to use our internet hdtv as a monitor so others can see my screen in 40". Sony guy said that can do it wirelessly through the internet router instead of Hdmi without the need for an apple tv.Is this true and how do I do it?

As I said above, I want to view my iPod screen on our new 40" Sony Internet full HD TV.
I know that you can do this via HDMI but a Sony guy said that you should be able to do this wirelessly by going through the router. Is this true and can I do this without the need for the Apple TV?
We are soon going to get the airport extreme, so will it work with that?

    1. Is it a smart TV?
    2. If so.... Is the TV connected to the Internet?
    3. If it is.... Check if your iPod and your TV share the same IP address (Wi-Fi network)
    4. If they do.... Then you should go to wherever your "Other Media" tab is.
    5. After that.... Search for you iPod. Because it is connected to the same network, it should recognize the device they same way AirPrint does.
    6. If you happen to see this fail, then try this method:
    1. Do you have a Bluetooth-enabled computer/laptop?
    2. If so.... Enable the bluetooth on the computer/laptop as well as your iPod.
    3. After that.... Your iPod should be actively searching and it should find the computer/laptop.
    4. If it did.... Transfer the file onto Windows/Mac (preferably Mac) and find the program to open the file.
    5. After doing so.... Connect your computer/laptop to the TV via HDMI Output Cable.
    6. Now it should work!

  • Re-install Photoshop without the disc or registration number

I want to reset my computer to its factory settings to get rid of any virus or other bad programs that were installed. However, I do not want to lose my PS application. It was purchased, not a free pirated version. But I no longer have access to the registration number or the disc. How can I re-install Photoshop without the number or the disc?

  • How to install windows on the SSD (Y580)

I have bought an Y580 recently wIth a 64GB SSD and 1TB HDD. I asked the salesperson upfront if the OS would be on the SSD. He said yes. Turns out that it is not. When i returned to them they told me it's a hybrid drive solution. And they have no idea how to install Windows on the SSD.
I did some research and found out that Lenovo uses *Rapiddrive* to speed up programs. Hence why i can't see the SSD in WIndows as it is merged with the 1TB HDD.  In Disk management 2 disks show , 0 and 1 , but Windows asks to give disk 1 a MBR or GPT (this is apparantly due to the rapiddrive methode).
    My questions:
    * Is it possible to install Windows on the SSD and if so how can that be done without loosing the backup on the hidden partition of the 1TB disk? (so that OKR still works)
    * What are the benefits of Rapiddrive over using the SSD as bootdisk?

Since it is a hybrid drive, it works a little bit differently; Lenovo's "Rapiddrive" is also different from other hybrids, and in the sake of making it "user friendly" and seen as a single disc they have probably nerfed some configurability for the intermediate/advanced users. However, Windows should already be installed on the SSD portion of the drive, this should be done automatically according to this press release:
    http://shop.lenovo.com/us/sitelets/ee/consumer-news
"In the factory we will preload not just Windows 7 on the SSD, but also our Lenovo applications like OneKey™ Theater or OneKey™ Rescue System. The applications, operating system, drivers and other files are all fully-optimized for Enhanced Experience to make them load much faster. This, combined with their installation on the SSD will make the boot time to Windows desktop even faster. Some portion of the SSD will also be reserved as the Windows Paging File — this is used by Windows as 'virtual memory' additional to the normal RAM installed inside the computer. With the SSD acting as the Paging File, general Windows 7 performance will also benefit, especially when multitasking several applications.
The remaining space, which will typically be around 15GB on a 32GB SSD, will be empty, ready for the user to install their favorite applications and files."
I have some of the fastest SSD's around installed on my desktops (SATA III), and while they are blazing fast, keep in mind the whole boot sequence still isn't going to be instantaneous even with an SSD (the biggest differennce you will notice is by the time Windows is loaded, it's fully loaded to the RAM, whereas a normal HDD you may see the desktop but your PC will still be cranking away with startup processes). If your startup is taking 30 seconds or less, maybe even a little longer, it's probably accessing the SSD just fine; if it's taking closer to 60 seconds, then yeah it may need to be reinstalled/reconfigured.
As for reinstalling, sorry I won't really be able to help, hopefully someone else can come along; I personally have never used OKR anyways, and aside from doing a ghost backup I wouldn't say for sure that OKR would be salvageable with a fresh install. And because the Rapiddrive is its own technology, half SATA half PCI-E, I also couldn't tell you if it's even possible to fully seperate the two and keep them as distinct drives.

  • Can Mac OS 10.2 support my G3 Wallstreet without the need of a hitch?

I have an old G3 Wallstreet, 250 MHz with full RAM. I want to upgrade its OS to Mac OSX. What is the highest Mac OSX support my G3 WS without the need of Xfacor, something like that? I installed Mac OS 10.2 a few times unsuccessfully. Its screen became gray and mosaic. I do not mind to have Mac OS 9.2.2. before installing Mac OSX.
I very much appreciate your advice.
    Robert

    Robert,
Neither a dead main battery or dead PRAM battery will affect the stability of your powerbook. The PRAM battery (internal rechargeable backup battery) has a different purpose than the PRAM battery on a desktop machine. This article describes how it performs:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24801?viewlocale=en_US
Many powerbook owners will continue to use their laptops with a dead PRAM battery either because they are unaware of its condition or they just don't want to spend the time and money to replace it. Unlike a desktop computer, a powerbook will run just fine without it. You only have a problem if the PRAM battery develops an internal short and then the powerbook will not start or exhibit any sign of activity or life.
I would run two tests on your Wallstreet to see if you have a problem with RAM or the HD; both tests are run in 9.x.
-Download 'Newer Gauge Pro 1.1' to check your RAM. After installing this utility, reboot to 9.x while pressing the shift key (release key when you see 'extensions off') to minimize the amount of RAM that is used by the OS. You might let it loop for an hour or so to make sure it gets a thorough test.
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/4512
-Next, boot to your 9.x CD > open the Utilities folder on the CD > launch Drive Setup > select Test Disk from the dropdown menu. This is a non-destructive test and will take time since it reads/writes to each sector. If it finds a problem, you will want to reinitialize the HD using the option to zero all data, then run Test Disk again. Repeat one more time (zeroing) if the first attempt fails. If it still fails, replace the HD. I can't recall if Test Disk tests each partition separately or will test the whole HD...you will discover the answer to this. If the HD needs zeroing, zero the whole HD, then recreate the necessary partitions. You can fing all the necessary info for Drive Setup in Drive Setup Help once it is launched.

  • HT201358 Can ARD3 work with the Active Directory setup on a Windows machine and without the need of Open Directory

We need the 'Golden Triangle' setup to work with ARD3 running on a Mac server with client Mac details retrieved from a Windows Active Directory. In this system, the ARD3 will be used to install packages from a Mac OS X server, where the client Mac list is gathered directly from a Windows Active Directory, which is already in place.
So, please guide me whether Apple Remote Desktop 3 is capable of getting client machine details from an Active Directory without the need of re-creating the client Mac list in the Mac server running ARD3.
If ARD3 can not be used in this case, do you recommend any other tools that can resolve our issue.
    Thank you in advance.
    Sudheesh.

ARD cannot directly obtain client information from Active Directory, no. It may be possible to create a script that would get such information and be able to put it into ARD, but I wouldn't begin to know how to write such a script. You may also be able to bind your OS X Server to ARD and create groups there. This article is obsolete for 10.6 or later but may provide some clues as to how to proceed:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24276
There are a number of third-party systems that can manage Macs that may be able to draw information from AD, such as Casper, LANDesk, and others. Which if any would meet your needs depends on many factors including how many devices you need to manage, whether you're looking for a cross-platform tool, your budget, etc. This is a difficult issue to address in a forum like this since there are so many variables to be considered.
