How to install iDVD2 to OSX 10.4

Hi ... I am using an eMac with a DVD burner. At that time, the software came with OSX 10.2. I could use iDVD2 included to create DVD movies. However, after I upgraded the OSX to 10.4, I found iDVD has not been included in this new version of OSX.
I am asking how to install iMoive and iDVD 2 by using the diskes of 10.2. As, I dont want to buy iLife at this moment.
I hope friends here can give me hints.

Please stop asking about that on this forum.
There are plenty of informations on the Internet if you want to do it but nobody here will help, because is against the forum's rules.
And, you can't buy Mountain Lion if you do not have a Macintosh with at least Snow Leopard installed.
There is no physical media. Mountain Lion is provided by Apple through the Mac App Store.

  • How to install OS9 in OSX with OS9 disk?

I just got a G4 with OSX installed and no disks I want to load OS9 for classic support with the OS9 disk I own. Do I need to do anything special to install? All the forums mention the OSX disk which wasn't included in the purchase I made. I don't suppose I could just copy the os9 system folder from my old computer and place it where it belongs in OSX ? Thanks for the help. CJ

    CJ:
Welcome to Apple Discussions.I don't suppose I could just copy the os9 system folder from my old computer and place it where it belongs in OSX ?Yes, you may. Andrew is right. I have done it many times and it works perfectly. The beauty of doing this is that you don't have to do all the updates that you would have to do if you installed from disk.
The only concern I would have is whether Mac OS 9 drivers were installed when the disk was formatted for OS X. If they weren't, OS 9 would not work no matter how you installed. They very well might have been installed, though as DU usually has it selected by default.
    Good luck.

  • How to install OneNote on OSX 10.9

We just recently went to Office 2013/365 on the PC side, and am now trying to get OneNote installed along Office 2011 on the Mac side.  Only problem is our Macs are still 10.9, and when you try to install OneNote from the app store, it says it requires
OSX 10.10, which we can't go to still.  Any suggestions on how to get a version of OneNote that works with 10.9?  I don't see an "older versions" link on the Microsoft OneNote page.  This is our first attempt at installing it, so we
don't have an installer from another computer or anything like that.

    Hi,
Based on my research, OneNote for Mac now is only compatible with OS X 10.10 or later. If you previously installed OneNote for Mac and are on OS X Mavericks (10.9), you can continue using the older version of OneNote for Mac. However, in order to get today's
update or any future OneNote updates, we must upgrade the OS to Yosemite 10.10 or later.
Since this forum is for general questions and feedback related to Office for Windows, if you need further assistance regarding this issue, I'd recommend you post a new question in the OneNote for Mac forum:

  • How to install iCal without OSX disc?

I am using Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard. My iCal suddenly started behaving weird today so I looked for the Preferences files in the ~Library/ Preferences folder. Couldnt find any com.apple.iCal .. file. Not a single so I decided to delete iCal and reinstall. After I deleted iCal, I inserted OSX installation disc that came with my MBP (used only once for initial installation), my drive simply rejected it. I used other DVDs and same. I've very rarely used my optical drive but still this. Anyways, this MBP is an year old and I just want to install iCal so I can catch up to my schedules and proceed further. Help plz?

    Thanks for the reply Greg!
Here is the update, I copied iCal from my friends macbook with same OS 10.6.8 and it worked BUT only the restoration of iCal app. It is still behaving weird though and I can not find the preferences files for iCal in the "Preferences" folder to reset the settings as a first step to fix it.
Any ideas what I may do?
Here are the details of the weird behaviour that iCal has been doing:
I was working like usual today morning untill I made some adjustments to my google calendar synced through CalDAV to iCal. I do it often but this time it wiped all my events for this current week for all calendars. I tried to turn on and off the calendars and sometimes events appeared and dissapeared again. Then iCal started freezing and crashing. Now I can open the iCal fine but I cant create any calendar, delete any calendar or any such operation. I cant even create events for this current week, it works for future weeks though. If I try to switch to current week, iCal simply freezes or crashes.
    Thanks for any help!

  • How do I re-install my Mac OSX Server from scratch

    Hi,
I have purchased two MacMini Servers with 10.6 OSX Server software pre-installed.
I have changed the organization as our company name changed and run into license issues.
I want to re-install the Mac OSX Server software and start from scratch. How do I go about this. I tried yesterday for many hours to do so and the new installs are still running into duplicate license issues and other issues. What is the best approach to do re-install? I am willing to erase the internal Hard Disk and boot (with an external DVD optical drive) if that is the best way to go. What are the steps?
I have the original CDs or DVDs and have extra, external hard disks to do a Time Machine backup, etc.
    Thanks,
    Don

If you are looking to do a nuke and pave of the system, and you have an external optical drive, then yes, that is likely the most direct method. Connect the optical drive, insert the installation DVD, and reboot the system targeting the optical disk as the boot volume (you can do this by holding down the C key or the Option key during startup).
Now, if you do not have an optical drive, you can put the installation disk into another Mac running 10.6 and use the Remote Install Mac OS X application in your Utilities folder.
    Hope this helps

If you have a Mid 2010 model: Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery. If later then see below:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
If you have an earlier model:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

I spent 3 days trying to figure out how to install DBD::mysql on OSX 10.4.7 Server Universal on my Mac Pro.

Anyway, I wrote up a tutorial on what I did to get it installed. Hopefully it will help you out if you are having problems installing DBD::mysql on Server 10.4.7 Universal with a Mac Pro.

  • I'm going to install SSD in my Macbook pro, how do I install for example OSX Lion? I dont have any CD as far as I know.

I'm going to install SSD in my Macbook pro, how do I install for example OSX Lion? I dont have any CD with OSX Lion as far as I know.

Ideally, you should clone your HD as Bimmer 7 Series explains.
However, if your computer originally shipped with Lion or Mountain Lion, a clone is not necessary to merely reinstall OS X. OS X Internet Recovery will create a recovery partition, download the installer package, and install it on a completely empty SSD or HD.
Even if your computer shipped with Snow Leopard, it may be eligible to download a firmware update that creates the same ability: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4904

The MacBook has already come for me with Windows 7 installed, checked that it does not have another partition with OSX Lion installed, do not know how the person who did the maintenance before I managed to remove the partition with the Lion, so I can not create a disk or access boot camp because there is no partition Lion and don't own the DVDs of OSX Lion, you understand me?

  • Mac Keep Ejects Installation Media, Hard disk is empty, How to install OSX

I installed Ubuntu in my Mac Mini, Later my apple wireless keyboards pairing is not working and to pair i need to have OS X installed, since no osx installed, to boot i used to press the option key. So now I formated linux, now my hard disk is empty no partition or nothing. But the problem is my mac mini keeps ejecting OS X installation media (original dvd set came with mac mini) but I can boot from ubuntu live cd. How can I solve this problem. Some one told me to reset my pram, but I was unable to do it. Pressing Command Option P R does nothing. Please help me out. without my machine working I'm like a dead man.

Yeah I managed to get one, and tried c key to boot from the disk. It doesn't work. The current status of my machine is. My hard drive is clean (unpartitioned space, I formated it). Still Mac Ejects OS X installation media which came with the mac mini, But I can boot using Ubuntu,Solaris, etc disks and I can install them. How can I install OS X in this situation. Since I'm doing my PG course in Computer Science, the system is an urgent stuff for me.. Please help me out.
And why mac is ejecting the actual original installation media even when it's taking all other disks ?? I tried two different disks to make sure if it's the trouble of the disk, but that's not the case. I only ejects OS X disks and ejects all OSX Disks (i tried tiger disk, and leopard disk)

HELP how to install OSX on powerbook G3 prismo running OS 9.2  help.

First you need to install firmware update 4.1.8. Download at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1395
I used to have a 400MHz G3 Pismo model running Tiger 10.4.11. It ran quite well, however videos will be very slow.
On your Pismo, what is the processor speed, how much RAM and what size hard drive? I maxed out the RAM on mine & installed a 40GB hard drive.
Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Tiger is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available for $129 by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753). For other sources, do a Google search for MA453Z/A (10.4.6), MA190Z/A (10.4.3) and M9639Z/A (10.4) . Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version (black with silver X) and not a model specific version (gray) See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1976068 Can I use another Mac's system restore disc on my Mac?
Also check these web stores: http://www.lacomputercompany.com/cgi-bin/rpcart/index.cgi?command=dispitem&type= sku&sku=19521  http://www.allmac.com/shop/index.php?cPath=5_10003
After you install the base 10.4.x, update to the final Tiger version 10.4.11. Here's the link for the 10.4.11 combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
Look at this link Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger Installing Software Support Page

When you upgrade the OS, do it via Archive & Install. See About the Archive and Install feature http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710 Be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings. Also, repair permissions before and after the install.
