How to install Ilife 09 on new OS X lion installation?

I made a clean installation of OS X lion. I didn't buy iLife '11 but still work on iLife '09.
Because of the fact I didn't do an upgrade but a clean install I of course lost my iLife '09 suite. Can I reinstall it from the original max os X dvd's?
How to do this?

ilife older than version 11 is not really compatible with Lion. It might work to some degrees, but you very likely will run into issues ( iMovie09 uses Quicktime7.x as backend engine while in Lion v 10.1 is included, just for example ).
The only Lion updates that Apple specificly issued out for ilife apps are targeting the apps included in ilife11 ( like iphoto 9.1.5, iMovie 9.0.4 , Garageband 6.0.4 etc ) .
Also ilife11 is the only 64bit compatible version and optimized for Intel cpu speeds, thus requiring SnowLeo as a minimum, unlike the 09 suite which had still ppc code and strict 32bit code in it.

    Welcome to the community @Teekayk
I understand you are trying to install your Deskjet 3055A on your Mac, running Mavericks. The installation CD may be compatible up to 10.6, and that could be why you are seeing the error message.
This link should help you. It will show you how to install the printer on your Mac. There is no full driver and software available for the Deskjet 3055A on Mavericks, which basically means you will need to review your other options to scan on your Mac through Apple Updates, which is all included in the guide.

  • How to instal iLife

I've bought MacBook Pro a year ago. I needed to reinstall the mac so I did it. Than I realized that there is no DVD with iLife in my MacBook box. How can I instal it now?

Hrmm... But do you have a grey DVD (assuming that you had it together with you when you first bought your MBP) written Applications Install DVD? That's a bundle app where you can install iLife with it.
    Hope that helps.
    Regards, Daniel.

  • How to install ilife?

How do you install ilife 06? Also affter installed do you have to register the product through apple? or is it optional?

    PF:
Are you running an earlier version of iPhoto and the other iApps? If so and you have any unfinished iDVD projects you'll need to either finish them with the current iDVD or make a duplicate copy of your iPhoto Library folder, name it iPhoto06 Library and make it the current library before you install iLife 06. That way iPhoto 6 will update that one and leave the original alone for iDVD. That's because the folder system in iPhoto gets changed drastically and iDVD will lose all of its links to the files in iPhoto (if you are using any) and it's essentially impossible to re-link them. Keeping the original library folder makes it possible to continue with the iDVD project.
As usual it's wise to repair disk permissions before and after the installation. There's an option during the installation process to go online and register. As I understand it it's optional. There is not serial no. or the like to register. It just lets them know you're using that version and will get update emails from Apple about updates.

  • Tutorial: how to install ubuntu on new alu macs.

Okay, to install the most popular distro. of linux, ubuntu, you must first go to the site and download a live CD (this is the type of installer i will be using on this tutorial). Now after the download is done, go to disk utilities and burn the img to a CD-R. Put the CD somewhere safe for now. Now go to the bootcamp assistant app and make a partition, at least 20 gigs should do. now after that is done, dont click install windows now, click on install later. Okay, now for installing...
    1. put the cd in the computer.
    2. restart and hold down the option key at startup (before apple logo)
    3. select windows (it says windows because that is the only approved OS to run with macOS)
    4. select language and then select install ubuntu.
    5. follow the simple instructions until it gets to the part where you need to partition your drive.
    6. select manually partition (the last option)
    7. delete the 20Gig FAT32 partition (should be near bottom)
    8. now with the free space, create a 3000mb swap area partition.
    9. after that, make a 1000mb ext3 (the first option) and then under mount options, make it a /home partition.
    10. for the final step, make the rest of the free space a ext3 but under the mount options, this time just select the "/". now your done, click install and fill out your personal info and you should be good.
    11. have it restart and when it's shutting down, it should spit out the disk.
    12. once it is restarting, hold down the option key again and insert the disk once the macOS HD icon comes up. the disk should appear next to it and be labeled windows.
    13. select the cd and when the menu for the cd comes up again, go to the last option where it says "boot up from first drive" or something like that (sorry, im typing this off of memory).
    14. you will need to update everything, but besides that, you should be golden. as far as i know, you have to insert the cd every time, i dont know how to get it to work with out the cd, sorry. (please inform me if someone knows how)
    hope this helped!

How do I put iLife on my new laptop, please?

    Karen Cukrowski wrote:
How do I put iLife on my new laptop, please?
If you don't know what iLife is:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ILife
If you don't know what OS X verison you have, you can find out by going to the Apple Menu > About This Mac.
If it's a new OS X 10.7 laptop from the store in a unopened box, it should have come with it already installed.
If it's a new OS X 10.7 laptop from the store in a opened box, it likely has have erased and the operating system reinstalled, however to install the iLife requires a AppleID as it's copy protected, thus it can't be reinstalled less there is update problems with the new owner.
If not then follow these instructions, hopefully you won't have to pay for it.
Restoring iLife applications after Internet Restore of OS X Lion
If you reinstall Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion installed, on an erased or replaced hard drive, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store.
    After installation, start from Lion.
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to compete installation of your applications.
If you got this "new" 10.7 computer used at a discount, then you will have to go to the App Store under the Apple Menu, create a account with a credit card and buy it, download it and install it.
If it's a new laptop with 10.6, the machine specific disks that came with the computer should have the free iLife on it and you can insert the disk and run the installer package for bundled software.
If it's a new laptop with 10.6.3 white retail install disks, that version does have the included iLife and you will have to purchase it via the App Store.
If your machine was upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6, and you have the 10.5 disks, you can extract iLife from the 10.5 disks using Pacifist from CharlesSoft.

    Please help me out thanks!

There is no way to download it. If you want it, you can buy the retail iLife 11 disk version which includes iDVD - either at the Apple store or online resellers. I purchased it because I use iDVD extensively and wanted to make sure that I'd have a way to reinstall if necessary.
