How to install iPhoto an DVD only from my iLife 09 disk

Following hard drive replacement I now have Snow Leopard. I tried to install iphoto and DVD only from iLife 09 disk but could not find a way to install them only.
The full bundle will use all the free disk space I have which is 4 gbs. Following install of SnowLeopard from new disk iphoto and DVD did not install.

You can do what you want
BUT
you need a minimum of 10 GB of free space for normal operations so you need to find a way to reduce disk usage - 4 GB is not enough and will cause slow operation and possible damage to systems or data
You seriously need to free up disk space - moving your iPhoto library to an external drive may be the answer -
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

Download it from the App Store as Matt suggested. You may have to move the current version to the Trash Bin (don't delete yet), go to the App Store and look for iPhoto 9.6 under purchases. It will be free.

Purchasing iLife 11 on disk is an easy thing to do. ILife 11 will include iDVD.
If you have iDVD on another Macintosh you can transfer it to your new computer. That procedure has been discussed here many times, if you do a search you will find that procedure.

Your windows is 32 bit or 64 bit .
If win 7 32 bit
Just copy the plugin from PSE 11 and paste it to PSE 13 plug-in folder.
If win 7 64
PSE 11 and PSE 13 are installed as a 32 and 64 bit respectively , so you need to install plug-in again.

Thousands have successfully tried it themselves and installed Windows on a Macbook Air. Perhaps if you provided some details about what you did and what errors you observed we could help you. The Boot Camp instaructions, if followed, will produce a successful install.

As you found out, iLife is meant for personal computers, not an Xserve, therefor why it refuses to install.
You can find a lengthy discussion at MacSlash and other places on the web by doing a google search for "How to Install iPhoto on an xServe"
We cannot tell you how to do this on these Apple discussions.

The following may be a bit easier set up the new Mac with the same iDVD capability on your old Mac:
1 - copy your current iDVD application from the old Mac to the Applications folder of the new Mac. The latest version available is 7.1.2. If you don't have that versoin go to the Apple Downloads site and download the iDVD 7.1.2 updater and run it on your current iDVD application.
2 - copy the iDVD folder that resides in the old Mac's HD/Library/Application Support folder to the same folder on your new Mac.

i bought a new mac pro and the first use and operate in the apple store in the UK london i used and apple ID of my friend because i didnt have one, and installed few appes and then i got my new apple ID and i tried to update app called Iphoto and i couldnt so i logged in to the other account and it didnt work,
so i erased Iphoto and tried to install it from my new account and i cant install it, it sais that i already have it in the purchases but i cant find anything and i went to the apple store and they didnt know how to do it, so the only option now is to buy it..
is there any way to do it without to buy ???

I have a late 2010 Macbook Air that I was recently given from a friend
I didn't do any reformatting of the hard drive as there wasn't much on it, but I noticed that iPhoto and iMovie are missing (it's not under applications). I'm wondering whether it was included in the first place? And if so, how do I reinstall them if I don't have any disks from the original owner? It's running OS X Mountain Lion Version 10.8.2, so I'm not sure if the previous owner upgrading the software after original purchase caused an issue that deleted it them either.
Please help!
Additional note: I realize that the two applications are available in the app store, but I really have no desire to spend $30 on them

The only way to install iPhoto is from the original source or a purchased upgrade - the seller of the machine should have included the restore disks with it or provided you with the set up Apple ID so you can log in under it to download it from the app Store
You can contact Apple support and see if they can assist - they may be able to replace the restore disk are a reasonable cost

Clean install then restore documents only from TM

I bought Mountain Lion and performed a clean install (I wanted to do this due to some issues I had been experiencing prior). I now want to restore only my documents, music, pictures, etc from a Time Machine backup (i.e. I don't want to bring across the whole user account, which includes the Library folder and therefore all preferences).
After much research, I restored the user account only from the TM backup to a different username using Migration Assistant (because I had already created a new user account with the same name). I then logged into the old account and moved the files to /Users/<new account>/Public/Drop Box. This worked, but I don't have permission to access the folders from the new account now.
How can I sort this or is there a better way to do it? And if possible, I want to be able to continue with (inherit?) the existing TM backups, rather than create an entirely new one because all the files appear new.
If anyone can help with this, I'd be very grateful.

Since you erased the disk, it's treated as a different one, and your backups appear as if they're from a disk that's no longer connected.
In that situation, you can still see and restore from them via the procedure in #E3 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
But when you do the next backup, Time Machine will back the "new" drive up separately. You may be able to tell it to "associate" the "new" drive with the old backups. See #B6 in the same link. If you do that successfully, TM will only back up the differences, and all backups will appear in the same place.
