How to install iPlanet & NAS on same machine

Hi,
We have successfully installed iPlanet 6.0 SP3 on solaris in a webless
mode. But both Webserver and App. server are running in the same
machine. Now we have a requirement, that one other group wants to share
the same machine, wherein they want to install NAS 4.0 on the same
machine.
Is it possible to install both App. server on the machine, while sharing
the webserver.
I Would appreciate if any one can say, if this is doable and how.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Veera

You can do that if you put iAS and NAS on two different web server
instances (http daemons). However, you might not get support on it so
you better check with iplanet support before you put something like this
into production. For development environments it should not be a
problem.

  • Issue while installing TimesTen on the same machine as the Oracle DB.

    Hi,
I am new to the TimesTen(TT) and facing the issue of installing TimesTen on the same machine as the Oracle DB(this is our project requirement ). I am trying to install on Solaris 32bit machine with 64GB RAM. When i installed only TT there is no issue. But I am not able to installed if I installed Oracle DB and after that I installed TimesTen on same machine.
Further if I tried to installed the TT with less size i.e.128MB along with oracle DB on same machine it installed successfully . But when i tried TimesTen with 16GB size it doesn't installed successfully along with oracle DB. Also, I tried to installed only TimesTen with size 16GB it installed without any error.
Could you please let me know what could be the possible reason for the above behavior.
Also i read in some threads in the same forum mentioning that "it is not recommend to installing TimesTen on the same machine as the Oracle DB as they can contend for resources (memory and CPU). Could you please elobrate more on this what kind of issues can possibly occur in this kind of scenario.
Please let me know in case more information is required.
    Thanks in advance !!!
    Regards,
    Sanjay

Can you please explain what you mean by 'install' in this context? Memory size is not an installation time option with TimesTen. It sounds to me like you mean 'am not able to configure a TimesTen database to use xxx MB/GB of memory' rather than 'unable to install TimesTen'?
With a 32-bit operating system the largest TimesTen database you will be able to create is 2 GB. If you need a larger TimesTen database then you need to run 64-bit TimesTen on a 64-bit OS.
It general it really isn't a good idea to run TimesTen on the same machine as the Oracle database. Perhaps you can share what your overall objectives are? WHat are you looking to achieve by using TimesTen? If we understand that we can give better advice.

  • Installing MDW on the same machine as MRS

    Hi Experts:
We have MRS running on a Windows 2003 Server (Enterprise) and is working fine.
We would now like to install MDW on the same machine.  I have also installed the MS Office 2003 and MS Visual Studio.NET 2003.  However, it is still not highlighting the option that would allow me to install MDW.
In the MDW prerequisites it states that I would need Windows 2000 or XP, however my machine is running on MS Windows Server 2003 (Enterprise Edition), would this make a difference?
Also is there a way of finding what I am exactly missing?  I have the install guide and I have everything mentioned in that guide.  I am also mentioning a few things that are slightly different.
Operating system is MS Windows 2003 Server instead of MS Windows 2000
DB is MS SQL 2000 Enterprise instead of Personal or MSDE
Can anyone shed some insight into this/
    Thanks
    Imran

    Hi:
This is what I have figured out.
I wasn't able to find a way of installing MRS and MDW together.  If MRS is installed first then MDW option is automatically is omitted even if all prerequisites are met.
If MDW is installed first then, the system is going to give you the option of MRS, howerver during the install it is going to remove all MDW components and replace them with MRS components.
Also, installing MRS on a XP is possible only after installing MS SQL 2000 (Personal Ed.).  Enterprise and Standard are not installable on windows XP.
Installing MDW on Windows Server is possible, and any edition of SQL will work for the install.
I hope someone will find this information useful.

  • Does anyone knows how to install Iplanet Messaging Express under iWS 6.0

Does anyone knows how to install Sun One Messaging Express in iWS 6.0?
I have a server which has been installed with iWS 6.0 and another server which installed Iplanet Messaging Server 5.2.
anyone can help me on this?

The Webmail interface for Messaging Server is implemented as its own daemon - it's not a CGI or Servlet that runs through another web server. As such it can not be deployed through Sun ONE Web Server (or any other web server).

  • Can I install 8 on the same machine where I have 7?

Can I install app server 8 on the same machine where I have app server 7 installed already? Are there any conflicts that I need to be aware of?

Yes, you can install both 7 and 8 on the same system - you simply have to specify different installation location (and different set of port numbers if you plan to use both installations at the same time).
You can also use upgrade tool which is shipped with release 8 to migrate your server configuration and deployed applications from the old installation into the new installation. See installation guide for more details on this:

  • How to sync 2 iPhones to same machine?

I'm getting a new iPhone4 and my wife will likely inherit my older phone (3G). How do we both sync to the same machine/instance of iTunes? Do we simply have to be sure we're logged in as the right user in tunes before we sync or is there more.. or less(?) to this?
    Thanks!
    Jay

Hello, we are in the same position. We both have a user account on our Macbook and that way, things never get confused. We have separate itunes accounts but when we want to share songs, videos etc, we put it into 'Shared folder' and you can access it from the other username. It seems to be very good at keeping the two separate.
    Good luck.

  • Install Crystal Reports on same machine as Crystal Reports Server 2011

    Hi All,
Is it possible to install Crystal Reports 2008 or 2011 on the same machine as Crystal Reports Server 2011.
We have a number of different Data Sources which are not so accessible by the clients but will be accessible from our Server.
So is there a way to allow users to develop reports on the server - by the above suggestion or some other method?
    Thanks,
    Sinead

    Hi,
I am not 100% sure if it's possible with these versions. with older versions, they shared common folders and it was not recommended. Have into account that applying Service Packs and FixPacks will be complicated as well.
I won't recommend either giving access to your users to the server machine. You can always set up Terminal Server with only the Crystal designer and middleware configured and tailor the level of access users have to that specific server.

  • How to install Demantra on 64-bit machine so that all components work?!!

I'm using 64-bit windows 7. I first installed Oracle DB 10.2.0.4 x64, then Demantra 7.3 x64. Some component of Demantra didn't work, wouldn't open giving me the following error "Can't connect to database Oracle library OCI.dll or ORA803.dll couldn't be loaded". Only then I read official installation notes for Demantra which say:
You can run Oracle Demantra on either a 32-bit or 64-bit Oracle database. However, the Oracle Demantra Installer and these applications run in 32-bit mode, so you must use the 32-bit Oracle database client to install Oracle Demantra and use these applications:
    * Business Modeler
    * Member Management
    * Chaining Management
    * Oracle Demantra forecasting engine
How do I "use the 32-bit Oracle database client to install Oracle Demantra"? Give me a bit more detailed answer if you can, as I'm not an expert. Thank you.

    Hi Milind,
Unfortunately, I don't have Oracle SID and access to metalink. We're about to get into contractual agreement, but it's still in the workings. My original problem was solved by way of using virtual machine (32 XP) on top of Windows 7 64. However there are other issues standing in the way of our training. Do you know whether 7.3.0.1 has seeded demo data? (7.2 had it, and 7.3.0 didn't). Desperately need to a big nice rich dataset for 7.3. Any help greatly appreciated.

  • How to install two iTunes on same PC for two iPods?

My family now proudly owns 2 iPods, but we only one PC. So it needs to host two iPods, with their resepctive iTunes on it.
I thought this was going to cause problems, and worried that installing iTunes for the most recently purchased iPod would overwrite the existing programme, wipe the music off it and cause my middle daughter to kill me. The guy in the shop said, no problem - create a new User Account and install the new iTunes on that, and it would be OK. So I did.
I got a bit worried when the install prog wanted me to put the new iTunes into the same folder that the old one was in, (even though I was logged in as a different, new user) so I found a new location for it and went ahead.
Guess what - it wiped the old iTunes anyway. When I opened up the old one, it had been overwritten anyhow.
I did a system restore to try and get it back to the previous setting - deleting the new user I had created. And went back into the old version of iTunes to see if the music files had come back. But it wouldn't even run - saying that some files were now missing.
This is doing my head in, it's happened before (and I had to buy Copypod to restore the stuff on my iPod).
How can you get two copies of iTunes on the same PC running two separate iPods?!! And how can I get the overwritten files back?

You don't need two copies of iTunes. There are a couple of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Have a look at the article linked below. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries as each account using iTunes will have it's own iTunes Music Folder. Method two is to set your preferences so each iPod is updated with only certain playlists within one library. • Install two databases on same machine

    Hi all,
I have a machine with win 2000 srv with an oracle 8.0.6 installed; Now I want to install a new db, new istance, with oracle 8.1.7.4, but i want to maintaining the db 8.0.6. How i must proceed?
    thanks

    Hi again,
You can use two listeners.... but then you need to use 2 TCP ports. Not really usefull.
You only need one listener for both ORACLE_HOMEs. It's advisable to use the one from the latest release (i.e. 8i).
Using only one listener is afaik the good way to set things up.

  • How to install J2EE on a windows machine

I am following the oracle tutorial on how to use JMS, as I am learning it, but I am having problem with J2EE. I downloaded j2ee with sdk and installed it and it gives me an unsupported platform error.
I am running 64bit Windows 7 which is supported. I can anyone help me figure out what is going on?
    -Thanks

You cannot download "J2EE" as it is a specification, not an application. The "JEE SDK" you are referring to is just one of Oracle's confusing bundle downloads.
What you're talking about is the Glassfish server which delivers an implementation of the JEE 6 specification. There are many alternatives to Glassfish out there though, including JBoss, Oracle Weblogic, IBM Websphere, Apache Geronimo and more. If you must go down the Glassfish path (which is recommended if you follow some tutorial, but I wouldn't recommend following a tutorial if you intend to learn this highly complicated material) then don't mess with the "JEE SDK"; take control and install the stuff separately which is hardly rocket science. Install the latest JDK 6 release and install the latest Glassfish from here:
    http://glassfish.java.net/
Be sure to pick downloads that match your CPU architecture.
