But Oracle VM Server does not detect onboard Network card.Your NIC needs to be supported by Oracle Linux 5 Update 3 to work with Oracle VM Server 2.2. If it's too new, then it will not be seen. Also, please start a new topic for each question. This new question is not relevant to the original topic.

    1. How to start the SAP ECC6 in sun Solaris.(version 10)
2.How to start the oracle in sun Solaris (version 10)
    We are trying with
    sh startsap SID
but it showing SAP SYSTEM NAME NOT FOUND
    Please suggest'
    Regards,

    Dear Ravindra,
    First start oracle :
login as orasid and login to sqlplus "/as sysdba"
and then startup and make sure that listener is up and running.
For that you can lsnrctl status, if its not started just do lsnrctl start.
After that login as sidadm and then startsap R3
If still if you face any error like system name not found.
then try as startsap R3 <hostname> or startsap SID <hostname>
Defenitely it will resolves your issue.
    Thanks

  • How to install jdk to SCO unix?

I am a new developer in SCO unix ,can you tell me how to jdk to SCO unix?
install which version of jdk and how to install,
where can I down the file needed?

As far as I know, Sun hasn't released a JDK for Unix. It's only available for Solaris, Linux, and Windows.
IBM has realeased developer kits for some of their platforms (AIX, OS/390), but that's not going to help you much.
There has been a lot of talk among open-source developers about Sun relasing the source code to Java. Such would enable ports of the SDK to other platforms (SCO, Mac...). This may only happen after IBM buys Sun (still a few years off '-) .

  • How to install JDK on LINUX Ubuntu on system with no net/wireless?

    Hello!
I need to install JDK on LINUX Ubuntu on system with no net/wireless connection.
    What are the commands?
    Thank you!
    Edited by: 800512 on 07:29 10/01/2011

    - Download your release of choice from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
    - Put the file on a USB thumb drive
    - Mount that drive on the target machine
    - Follow the installation instructions.
The Linux/Ubuntu downloads of the JDK are offline installers (i.e. the downloaded file contains everything that's required). Only Windows currently has an online installer (smaller initial download, but requires a net connection for the actual installation)
Alternatively: install the OpenJDK from the official Ubuntu packages using apt-zip (http://wiki.debian.org/AptZip).

  • Installing JDK-1.4.2_05 on SOLARIS 8: `(' unexpected

    Hello,
I have problems installing JDK-1.4.2_05 on two SOLARIS 8 boxes.
The error occurs right at the beginning of the installation.
I start the installation as follows:
    -rwxr--r-- 1 sw staff 35253366 Sep 21 13:51
    j2sdk-1_4_2_05-solaris-i586.sh
    [root@sokrates /home/sw/BVB-3-Stuff/Jdk-1.4]# cd /usr
    [root@sokrates /usr]#
    /home/sw/BVB-3-Stuff/Jdk-1.4/j2sdk-1_4_2_05-solaris-i586.sh
    The error is as follows:
    Unpacking...
    Checksumming...
    0
    0
    Extracting...
./install.sfx.825: syntax error at line 1: `(' unexpected
    Done.
The error is the same on both machines.
Both machines run SOLARIS 8 (SUN-OS 5.8) with the latest J2SE recommended
    patches installed.
    Any help is highly appreciated.

This may sound a bit obvious, but are the two machines in question Intel machines? If I try to install this (Intel) package on a SPARC box, I get exactly the same error. Again, sorry if this sounds a bit obvious, but it's just a thought :)

  • How to install CD 2 and 3 of Solaris 10?

    Hi,
I am trying to install Solaris 10 on my Dell Laptop. I burnt all the 4 cds and was able to boot from the 1st CD. After installing the 1st CD the computer rebooted automatically and it doesn't ask for the remaining CD's.
Any ideas on how to install the remaining disks when the computer restarts?
    Thanks.
    Sachin

Just insert it and if vold is running it will mount it on /cdrom/cdrom0. cd to there and run the installer script.

If you ask detailed questions we will provide detailed answers. If you provide vague questions we can only give general answers.
What do you want to configure your JDK to do?
If you're new to Java you should be running through the tutorials before you do anything else. Specifically you must get a good understanding of the classpath or you will be in a world of confusion.

  • How to install Vertias netbackup 4.5 on solaris 9

Hi all, is there anyone out there who can provide a step by step guide for a newbie to install netbackup on solaris 9....I have no idea how to do it....so far i have installed solaris 9 with no dramas, i connect the scsi cables from a Sun L20 Storedge device and do a probe-scsi-all, it sees the device....now where do i go from here?? any and all help will be appreciated....if it is easier to send directly to my email please feel free. ([email protected])
    Thanks

Typically the steps post install are:
    1) login to the web based admin server
    2) create a new proxy instance (pick a port, and IP, and some details)
    3) start it up.
Obviously there are a ton more things you can do to this new instance...but this should get you going.

  • How do I find the latest Critical Sun Solaris Patches on Oracle site

    Hello
How do I find the latest critical Solaris Patches available to the users. I was searching the list on Oracle's site it's hard to determine which patch is critcal or not. When I type uname -a this is what returns Generic_142909-17.
Any help you could provide would be appreciated.

Sorry, I wrote "Monthly" when I meant to write "Quarterly". Apologies for the confusion. My bad.
    From - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/alerts-086861.html
They are released on the Tuesday closest to the 15th day of January, April, July and October. Starting 2011, the scheduled dates for the release of Critical Patch Updates will be on the Tuesday closest to the 17th day of January, April, July and October. The next four dates are:
    * 19 April 2011
    * 19 July 2011
    * 18 October 2011
    * 17 January 2012
The CPU for the Solaris Operating System is a rebranded snapshot of the Recommended OS Cluster. The rebranding involves only superficial changes to the patch cluster, with the actual patch content remaining unchanged. The patches contained in this patch cluster are considered the most important and highly recommended patches for Solaris 10. They provide the least amount of change required to address known security, data corruption and availability issues.
If there's a particular CVE Alert which you're vulnerable to or interested in, then the fix will be released within the patch that corresponds to the area of code the vulnerability affects. You can then apply that patch and it's requirements separate to the clusters. Next time you apply the cluster it will either install the latest rev of the patch or skip it if you have the latest installed already.
The Recommended Patch Cluster bundle is a much larger collection of patches and contains all the latest patches (at the time of release) which include Solaris updates, Security, and Sun Alert fixes. Note that we merged "Recommended Patch Cluster/Kernel Jumbo Patchset" and the "Sun Alert Patch Clusters" back in June 2010. See http://blogs.sun.com/patch/entry/merging_the_solaris_recommended_and for more information regarding what happened and why.
Of course there will be a large overlap between the "Recommended OS Cluster" and the "Critical Patch Updates" patchsets will be rolled in to the "Recommended OS Cluster" whenever it's cut and released.
There's a lot of information in the README files for each cluster so you may want to read those to understand the subtle differences.
    Regards,
    Steve
