How to install Lightroom 6?

Is it necessary to un-install previous LR version, LR4, before installing LR6? Or, will LR6 automatically deal with the previous version during installation?

For Elements you can simply install the application and then set up the Elements Editor for external editing in the LR Library prefs. I’m assuming you won’t be using Oranizer as well as LR. That can lead to confusion and broken links unless you are very disciplined.
If you do intend to use Organizer the method is backup and restore, starting with an Organizer backup on the old PC.

I have LR 5 (5.2) installed and have just joined the photographers deal. I have installed Ps no problem but have been told by 'Chat' that to install lightroom from the cc i first need to uninstall lightroom 5? Surely not? Do i need to re-import everything, redo all the previews, recreate all my collections?
Surely im missing something?

open lr5, click help>deactivate.
then click help>activate and use your cc adobe id to activate.
although, if you already purchased lr 5 outright, it doesn't make sense to do that.
on the other hand if you have lr 5 via a previous cc subscription you should have used the same adobe id for both cc purchases.

Confused about how to install Lightroom 5

Hi There,
I have all my serials in 1Password and generally keep very good software records but while I have serials for Lightroom versions 1-4, I can't see anything for v5.
Is it possible that Lightroom 5 was an in-app upgrade or special upgrade that used the v4 serial number? I've found a lot of conflicting forum and blog posts so am not sure.
But even if I had the v5 serial, the serial number box doesn't appear as an option after installation (see attached) - the only option is to buy a new license?
Sorry for the dumb question - just not sure what's going on.

I'm now a Creative Cloud user but have always had a separate licence for Lightroom - in fact, I've never been able update Lightroom via the CC interface and have always had to manage it manually because it was never installed via CC. If I go to apps from the CC menu, Lightroom is available to install so I assume CC knows it's licensed separately?
Now I'm trying to install it on another Mac without CC (and will use CC on the current Mac) so am looking for the serial - I've tried:
Logging in to my personal store account (clicked 'view all products')
Logging in my CC account (clicked 'view all products')
Logging in to the company volume licensing account
Searching for a .lrreg file
Manually checking ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Lightroom 5.0 Registration
But I don't see anything
Even though Lightroom is not installed via CC, when I try to view license info under the help menu, it just states that I'm signed in and displays my CC login. If I sign out of CC, I still can't find license info so I don't know if CC has somehow removed the license info?
Anyway, I normally keep very good records but we've noticed that after a move to a new email server, we're missing email - not sure what to do from here sorry.

I have purchased Lightroom 5 - I however do not have a DVD reader. I downloaded LR but when entering my serial number on the box I bought I get the message "invalid serial number - please contact customer service". Hoping that somebody can help me on this forum.

I found the reason - I downloaded the LightRoom Creative Cloud version. I have bought the LR Windows/Mac client. I finally found on other products download the LR version. Way to do it - is install the LR client trial version - go to HELP - Lightroom registration and you can enter I could enter my license key. Just created my first import - great !

I deleted lightroom on my desktop today, because I wanted to install it new later.
After restart, I opened the adobe application manager which still says, that Lightroom is istalled.
The search on my Mac can't find any files from lightroom, because I empied the trash.
Help! What to do?

Solution:
In Adobe Installers I could deinstall Lightroom and the Manager itself (Before, I tried to delete the manager, but it was not successful, even after moving the app to the trash).
After that I downloaded the Manager again.
Then I could dowload the Lightroom, too.

Download it from Adobe. I doubt Lightroom 2 will run correctly on a new Mac that probably came with OS X 10.10.
