How to install Lion OS on a Macbook pro late 2011 (it is originally installed)

Hi everyone !
I have to change my hard drive to a SSD in my new Macbook pro. I bought it 3 weeks ago.
So,  I haven't any DVDs of Lion. Many people said I can download Lion in the Mac appstore and burn it on DVDs, but i can't. (I tried many technics but nothing works).
Can you help me, I can't used my Recovery HD partition if I change the HD.
(Be cool with my English, I'm French )

(I tried many technics but nothing works).
Care to share?
You would do better posting in the Lion forum area - Mac OS X v10.7 Lion

  • Macbook Pro (Late-2011) Grey Cross during Install

    Hello.
MacBook Pro (Late-2011) version. Just installed a new Intel 520 Series 480 GB SSD drive to replace the 750GB drive that was in it.
Created a bootable USB Drive with Mountain Lion from the App Store (8GB SanDisk Ultra). When I try and boot from the drive, after about 45 seconds I get a grey crossout circle and it doesn't move from there.
I've used the same method of creating a bootable install drive before when I did a fresh install on the same computer of Mountain Lion, and on my Mac Mini.
So, is it the SSD that's causing the issue, or do I have a bad image?

This problem is from a faulty restore of the installer to the USB thumb drive. Try fully repartitioning it with Disk Utility and then try the restoration again. To repartition, select the drive device in Disk Utility, and then use the Partition tab and select "1 Partition" from the drop-down menu. Then click "Options" and ensure GUID is the partition scheme. Apply the changes, and try restoring the installer to the drive again.

  • I tried to install windows 7 in my macbook pro late 2011 but i tried to create partions after it installed and it turn to dynamic disks and ican't access mac or win 7 what should I do i cant format it because i dont have a backup

It's not that you can't format it because you have no backup, it's because you'll lose everything when you do. Lesson learned. Always have a backup.

  • Will OS Mountain Lion slow down my MacBook Pro (Late 2011) running 10.7.5?

I have a Macbook Pro (Late 2011) that is currently running OS Lion 10.7.5. I was just wondering if updating to OS Mountain Lion would slow it down in terms of performance, or if it will have any other bugs on my MacBook?
PS. When updating to a different OS, do I have to back up my files to like a hard drive or something?

When updating to a different OS, do I have to back up my files to like a hard drive or something?
A back up is a precaution that you should always have, not just when installing an update to the OS. Its purpose is no different from the seat belt you wear when you drive. Use it all the time, and hope it will never be really necessary.

  • How can I transfer data (iTunes/iPhoto) MacBook Pro (Late 2011) to my brand new iMac 27" - Apple Support couldn't help me and did not make the promised call-back

I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro 13" and bought a brand new iMac 27" last week.
I tried to transfer data (musdic & photos) via Thunderbolt, but i did not run, my system always
tries to transfer data via WLAN, but that would last more than 80 hours.
I tried to get some help from the Apple Support, but unfortunately they couldn't help me.
A promised call-back from the next higher support-level has not been done.
Does anybody know what the problem might be.
    The Thunderbolt-cable is brand new.

Instead of using Migration Assistant, the best way is to use the Target Disk Mode, so you will save headaches (Migration Assistant creates a new user with the transferred data).
To do this, just connect both Macs with the Thunderbolt cable, and then, start the MacBook Pro holding the T key, so a Thunderbolt or FireWire icon should appear on the display. After that, go to the iMac, open Finder, and the hard drive of the MacBook Pro will appear on the Finder sidebar as an external drive, under "Devices". Just access to it, go to the folders with your iTunes and iPhoto libraries, and copy them to the iMac

  • How do I enable airdrop on my macbook pro late 2011

I noticed the airdrop folder in my finder folder but never used it.  Now that I want to use it, it is no longer there.  Is there anyway to get it back and enable it's use?

Hit command-, in Finder (or choose preferences) and ensure the AirDrop icon is checked to show in the sidebar.
Note you have to have WiFi turned on to use AirDrop.

  • Installing window 7 to macbook pro late 2011

I am trying to install Windows 7  to a Macbook Pro (late 2011). I got this far: After downloading Bootcamp 5 and going into Bootcamp assistant and clicking both, a) Download the latest windows support software from Apple, &  b) install Windows 7 or later version.
NEXT: Installed external 8G usb drive for Windows support software to download to
NEXT: In about 10 seconds it downloads then never moves on the "visual" download scale????????   THIS IS WHERE I GET STUCK
ANY HELP WOULD GREATLY BE APPRECIATED

As it looks like you can't download the Windows support software from Boot Camp Assistant, download it at the Apple site > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638 Follow the steps to burn it to the USB drive.
Then, open Boot Camp Assistant and install Windows. Don't mark the option to download the Windows support software

  • How do I upgrade to Mavericks from Lion with a Macbook Pro late 2011?

How do I upgrade to Mavericks from Lion with a Macbook Pro late 2011?

Mavericks is no longer available from the App Store.
If you meet the Mavericks requirements then you can install Yosemite at no charge.

  • How do I install the recover portion of OS X 10.10.1 on my MacBook Pro late 2011? It is missing!

When I boot up my MacBook Pro late 2011 while pressing the option key it should show the recovery icon which it doesn't.
How do I install this portion of Yosemite?

This was changed with Yosemite.  The recovery is hidden when booting with option.  Hold command and R when booting to get into recovery (without option).  If you see the globe, then it is actually going to Internet recovery, which means you do not have a local recovery.

Could it be a borked cable ? I just bought it new from the store today, i have updated both imac and macbook pro to latest thunderbolt firmware and updates. Both 10.7.3.

You are correct, here is what Apple Says:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3775
I was able to find these instructions, however they referr to 2009-2011 27" iMacs. I think it's the same, if it's not then contact Apple directly for instructions. If either of the machines is less than 90 days old or covered by AppleCare then call AppleCare tomorrow for help, they should be able to easily answer this for you. You will find the number in your manual or you can use the AppleCare Contact Info link.
Your iMac should automatically recognize the presence of a digital video signal at the Mini DisplayPort and enter Target Display Mode.
If your iMac does not automatically enter Target Display Mode, press command + F2 to manually enter Target Display Mode.

  • Does airplay mirroring work on MacBook Pro late 2011 ( Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5)?

    Hi guys,
I would like to use airplay mirroring on apple tv (3rd generation) with my macbook pro late 2011, unfortunately the airplay option does not appear in the display preferences (see screenshot below). Did someone have this problem before? Please advise!
    Thank you!
    Tial

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404 Your computer is compatible with AirPlay Mirroring, but you have to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion to get AirPlay Mirroring.
Make a Time Machine backup and/or a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. When the download finishes, the installer will appear, so follow the steps to upgrade. To turn on AirPlay Mirroring, select the AirPlay icon in the menu bar or open System Preferences > Displays

  • I have a MacBook Pro Late 2011 and I'm wondering if I install Windows 7 Ultimate to this MacBook Pro with this Full Retail Version. And if so, which bit to use either 32-bit or 64-bit since I have both disks.

I have a MacBook Pro Late 2011 and I'm wondering if I install Windows 7 Ultimate to this MacBook Pro with this Full Retail Version. And if so, which bit to use either 32-bit or 64-bit since I have both disks.

    64 bit.
32 bit won't use all your computer's ram.
64 bit allows you to run 32 bit programs
    Your computer is 64 bit
    New programs use 64 bit.
There is no reason to use the 32 bit version of Windows.

  • Not able to install Win7 on OS Mavericks Macbook Pro (late 2008)

    Hi folks,
since yesterday I'm trying hard to install Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro (late 2008) without any success.
I put the .ISO file for installing Windows on my USB stick. When I started Boot Camp Assistant 5 it says either "the installer disc could not be found" or if I check "Download the latest Windows support software from Apple" it says after few seconds "Can't install the the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server."
    Can anybody help me, please?!
    Cheers

You can only install Windows from a USB drive on a Mac that came without a DVD drive. Your Mac came with a DVD drive, so you have to install Windows from a DVD.
I do not recommend you to download the Windows support software from Boot Camp Assistant. Instead, I recommend you to download it from the Apple site > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1630
    Follow Apple's steps to install Windows > http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf
