How to install Maverick on new HDD before replacing current Without Original OS X Disk

Hello Community,
I am looking for some advice / help.
I have a Mac mini Early 2009,
I want to replace 120GB Drive with a new larger drive, how do I setup Maverick on the new drive before swapping out.
I do not have my original OS X Disk,
I have purchased OS X Mavericks from App Store.
Is there a way to install on new drive (Via external adapter) before replacing old hard drive?
I have relevance experience and tools to perform task,
I have upgrade the Memory to 6GB previously.
Are there any further upgrade that I can do to my Mac as it is a great little machine and do not currently have funds to purchase one of the new beauties

I have no experience with the Mini but I thought that normally you could only upgrade the Memory.

It's going to be impossible to install Mavericks unless you have a working Mavericks-USB-installer or an "install OS X Mavericks.dmg" that YOU have downloaded from the App Store in the past.
You should use a Snow Leopard install DVD to install 10.6.8 Snow Leopard on your Mac. From there, you can use your "install OS X Mavericks.dmg" to install Mavericks. If you don't have that, you can download and install Yosemite from the Mac App Store instead.
If you don't have either a Snow Leopard install DVD or a custom made Mavericks-installer-USB, you should call Apple and buy a Snow Leopard install DVD from them. They're still for sale.
The other option is to use another, still functioning, Mac and connect the two using a firewire cable. Then you can use Target Disk Mode to install Mavericks or Yosemite on your Mac http://support.apple.com/nl-nl/ht1661

Hi, I have a new hdd in my macbook air a1304 and want to install mac os X. I have not any cd, DVD or usb-stick with mac os.
After starting I have always Folder with ? and I cannot go on. I have no solution for that and ask for help.

How to install OS X after HDD was replaced with new one?

Hi folks,
I got new 500G HDD in my mac. After i have started it with C pressed selected <Use English as the main language> Then <Welcome to Mac Installer> Then <Software License Agreement> Then<Select a Destination> but there is nothing to select, there is no destination volume at all.
Could some one tell me what i need to do to install OS X.

Most drives come MS-Dos, we need HFS+ to install AND GUID Partitioning if an IntelMac.

1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the Erase tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Highlight the drive, select Erase Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data, Erase... after completion hopefully you'll be able to install.

Installing Maverick on new HD

I am Installing Maverick on new HD where i can CC it over to my main computer. I would like to start fresh.
My snow leopard has iphoto and itunes with a TON of 'stuff'.
Now i found out Maverick doesnt come with either.
Anyone know how to get these appications without having to buy them again??

Download Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store, and when the installer runs choose the desired hard drive or partition on which to install it. Be sure the target volume is first formatted with a GUID partition scheme and with Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as the filesystem format (this can be done with Disk Utility).
The volume can be an external or internal drive, and a primary or secondary partition on either.

How do I create a new calendar for the current year, using last years calendar's birthday's/photos and comments from the lower pages?

Each year for the past 5 years I make a family calendar and send copies to all he family members around the globe. I hate that I have to recreate all the birthdays and special occasions from scratch, and re-drag all the photos onto these dates, in the lower half of the page of each month on the new calendar. How can I create a new calendar for the current year and port all of these photos/comments into the new calendar from last years calendar, to save having to redo all this work!! I am not talking about the upper half page of the photos only...I am referring to the calendar page of each month.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Open iWeb so you see your original site in the left hand pane. Use the File->New Site menu option to create a new site. Give it the name you want.
Now select a page in your original site and type Command+D. That will duplicate the page. Drag the duplicate page down to the new site and rename it as needed. Do that for the other pages you need in the original site.

if you just plug it in to your computer i believe it should give you the option of who's songs and other info to keep, or download.

Your old ID connects to an icloud account containing all your data (email, contacts, etc.) If you then use a different ID, you will connect to a different account, which results in losing all your "apple" data, like emails, contacts, calendars, etc.
However, Apple IDs are also used to connect to an itunes store account, with is different. You can keep using the old itunes store ID to keep all your purchases (but if you change to a different ID, you will lose all purchased items) and use the new ID for icloud (but losing emails, contacts, etc. from the old account).

You can't. Games from the iTunes music store are only for the iPod 5th gen.

I have just purchased a new Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD, I want to replace my existing HDD with the new SSD and install Mavericks straight onto it. I do not need to keep any files from my existing HDD, I just want to clean install Mavericks, how do I go about this?
