how to install software from imac to macbook pro

Are you using one of the newer iMac's with no DVD drive? If so, you can either get an external CD/DVD drive (any make - doesn't have to be Apple) or, if you have another Mac on the same network that has a CD/DVD drive you may be able to do it by turning on 'DVD or CD Sharing' on that Mac (System Preferences>Sharing). Hopefully you'll see the disk on the Mac without the DVD drive and be able to install from there.

  • How to install iDVD on iMac

I have a MacBook with OS X Lion on it and have iDVD running on it ever since I purchased it in 2009. Recently I bought a 27" iMac with 1TB HD and OS X Lion. I just realised today that it does not have iDVD installed on it and I am quite used to using iDVD to burn all the home videos I make using iMovie. I know that I can use iMovie to burn those movies to disc but I am too used to using iDVD and was wondering how can I get it installed on the iMac?
    1. Can't find it through App Store - I am told Apple does not support it any longer
    2. Can't find it anywhere on the web where I can pay and get it
    3. Will I be able to install it on the iMac from the MacBook Other Applications Install Disc that came with the MacBook?

Your MacBook came with disks for installing the system and bundled software.  You can use the bundled software disk to install iDVD onto your new iMac.
It should looks like one of these, possible like the one for the MacBook Pro in the upper right hand corner of the screenshot:
If you don't have those disks you can purchase the iLife 11 disk from the online Apple Store while supplies last. It will have the latest versons of both iDVD and iWeb, both of which have been discontinued by Apple.

  • How to install leopard on iMac g5 questions?

    hello...
i am trying to install leopard on my imac g5. I tried using a USB hard drive to use it with but people in this forum said that i couldnt...
my iMac's cd drive does not let me use my Leopard install disk.. it ejects it everytime..
Question.. How can i install Leopard on this iMac??
Can i some how use the USB HD to install it onto my main HD??
    thanks..

You may find a better answer on the "G5" forum...but, I had no problem installing Leopard on my son-in-law's 2005 G5, 20" iMac. I don't understand why it won't load from the built in disk drive since this is the way I installed it.
Are you sure that the disk you're using in the basic Leopard OS? It should work.
Hopefully you'll solve your problem in the "G5" forum.

  • How to install carelink on iMac 10.9.2?

i have a software that i have to install but now is not compatible with imac 10.9.2 how can I make it works
is called carelink from medtronic pls help

You can get the software to work but you need to use Firefox that allows you to spoof which operating system you are using.  You need to download the User Agent Switcher Add On and then in the Tools menu add a new Agent - call it something you will recognize and edit the string to change 10.9.x to 10.8.  You will then need to select this agent before going to carelink.minimed.org.  This works on my iMac but it still won't recognize the Carelink USB - I think that this is a USB 3 versus 2 compatability issue and Minimed needs to update the drivers.  However, it does work on my MacBook Pro, which is a couple of years old, running Maverick, but with USB 2 ports.  So a solution of sorts.
I just realised that activating the Develop Menu in Safari Preference - Advanced and then from the Develop Menu select Safari 6.1 as the User Agent does the same thing.  This still does not solve the USB issue.  I will try buying a USB2 hub and seeing if that works.

  • How to install Win7 if iMac's DVD drive is dead?

I recently replaced the hard drive in my 2006 iMac and am starting fresh with Snow Leopard.  The problem is at some point the DVD drive stopped reading DVDs and will only read CDs...(???)  So when I go through the Boot Camp Assistant it can't read from the internal DVD drive.  I've tried the Windows disc in an external USB DVD drive and also in the DVD drive of my new MacBook Pro in Target Disk Mode.
The problem is Boot Camp Assistant never recognizes the disc.  I can attempt to boot from the Windows disc from inside the MBP by holding option at startup, but it goes nowhere.
So how can I get Boot Camp working with a:
burned DVD of a Windows 7 download (valid license)
2006 iMac Core Duo with broken DVD drive
external IDE DVD drive connected with USB to IDE bridge
2011 MacBook Pro and a Firewire cable.
    Help?

Why not get the drive repaired, things will be much easier.

  • How to Install Lion on iMac from App Store

I have all the requirements already, but when I click the install button nothing happens. theres no loading bar or wizard. even when i search for "OS X Lion" nothing shows up. but I already have it purchased. odd right? Would I have to buy the disk from the apple store and do it that way or is something wrong with my computer. I already rebooted it like 4 times btw. Thanks.

    - Sign out of the App Store (in the Store menu)
    - Quit the App Store
    - In Finder - Go>Go to folder...  (or Apple-shift-G)
    - Paste in the following "~/Library/Caches/ "
    - It will take you to a folder.  Delete com.apple.appstore
    - Launch the App Store.  Sign in and then reclick the Lion buy.  It won’t charge you again.
Try resetting the App Store and Clearing Cookies.

  • Installing softwares on imac

How to install softwares on iMac?I am a beginner to apple products.Could you please help me?

Just as with any other computer. However, the easiest way to install apps is through the Mac App Store, which you can find in the bar at the bottom of the display (it's the "Dock"). See -> Mac Basics: Mac App Store is the built in way to purchase and update software - Apple Support
You can also install apps from DVDs (if your Mac has got a DVD reader) and from the Internet too, but remember that you can only install Mac apps. Windows apps do not work

To move a home folder, create a new home folder, copy the contents of the old home folder into the new home folder, and then delete the old home folder.  Take a look at this link, http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/UserMgmt_v10.6.pdf

  • How to Install Windows 7 or 8 to Imac if you have never owned these OS's before?

    Hi Guys / Girls.
I hope someone can help me.
I recently bought a new Imac (no optical drive). My OS is Mountain Lion.
I have seen many topics / videos on how to install Windows 7 or Windows 8 on my Imac, however I have a problem!
    I don't own a copy of Windows 7 or Windows 8.
Where can I buy and download it legally?
I tried the Microsoft website, but I can't find windows 7?
The download for Windows 8 is only an upgrade if you already have Windows 7.
Is there a way that I can buy and download the full version of Windows 8 without Windows 7?
Or can I download Windows 7 from somewhere?
The other option I have is I have an old Windows XP installation disc.
Can I some how bump this up to Windows 8 and then use bootcamp to install to my Mac?
I'm not sure which will be the best way to install the new Windows 8 to my Imac.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Well, a lot of questions here.
The reason you cannot download Windows 7 from Microsoft is that they discontinued it as a download in December 2012.
There are places you can download Windows 7 but probably not 100% legal - so I won't say anything more about these.  However, you can still buy genuine versions via Amazon.
As you say, a full (non-upgrade) version of Windows 8 (actually 8.1 now) is not available from Microsoft as a download.  Even if it was, it would be $200+
I suspect that your most economical option is to invest in a cheap USB CD/DVD drive to connect to your iMac and install XP under Boot Camp to see if you like the way it works.  You could then decide if you want to upgrade.
You can upgrade to Windows 8.1 (about $120 for upgrade) from XP either by download or buying the upgrade discs - cost will be similar and if you already have the drive, then it will be straightforward installation.  Again, copies available via Amazon.

How to install and use icloud in imac windows 7 based

Have you carefully read iCloud - Learn how to set up iCloud & iCloud on a Mac?, What do I need? If you are trying to run on Windows 7 on your iMac and ignoring OS X well you're pretty much on your own. You would need to look for supports on Windows forums. If you happen to use BootCamp there is a Bootcamp forum that you can post on for BootCamp and Windows assistance.

  • How to install AIR SDK 15 on my iMac

Hi everyone... I built my iOS app on Flash cs6 (with the latest AIR SDK 15) on my windows computer, but now have access to a Mac. The problem though is that the Flash cs6 on the mac is running AIR 3.2 and I have downloaded the latest AIR SDK 15 for Mac but I don't know how to install it. Can anyone help me?

I assume its the same as installing any other AIR SDK's. you go to Help >>> Managed Air SDK >>> click on the + sign on the top right >>> navigate to the AIR SDK 15 folder and then done!
I'm in the same situation as you are but I haven't received my imac YET. so I will let you know once I have done this myself or you can share your experience with us?
