How to Install Netgear DGN2200 modem/router combination

My Netgear DGN2200-100NAS arrives today and I would like to know of any tips or suggestions in the setup and install for my iMac running 10.6.4. The installation CD only is useful for Microsoft PCs, and all installation scripts are for PCs only.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm not familiar with that specific router but typically you don't need to install any software when connecting a router. Even PC users often use the router install DVD as a coaster instead of installing the software. If you are connecting the router to the usb port of your computer you will need to install the router's usb drivers. But connecting a router to the usb port is a bad idea. Just connect it to your cable/DSL line and to your computer(s) using Ethernet. It should automatically connect with default settings. Let us know if you run into problems.
Depending on who your ISP is, you may need to call them to register the modem with their service. I know you need to do this with Comcast otherwise their system won't allow your modem onto their network.

  • Airport Extreme and Netgear DGN2200 Modem Router - Help

    Hi everyone,
I’m from Italy, sorry for my English. I hope I will explain my problem  well enough.
In some weeks  I gonna buy my first iMac (after years and years on Win-PCs). For Christmas my family gave me an Airport Extreme for present. This is the first Apple product that  comes  into my house (..not really an happy entrance until now).
I’m just getting mad about setting this Airport Extreme. I would want to use it as a wireless extender ;  I tried almost all possible setups searching for days on the web , but nothing. It doesn’t work.  The Apple assistance is always busy in the hours I can be at home and the Extreme still remains a well-done-elegant white brick on the desk..
    Situation:
    -     I’m working on a Windows PC now (Windows 7)
    -     I use a Netgear Modem wireless Router DGN2200 plugged via Ethernet cable to the PC
    -     I downloaded Airport utility for windows 5.6.1
    -     The  Airport Extreme is new (5th generation)
    My wish:
    -     Using the Airport Extreme in another room of my house connected wirelessly to my existing Netgear router,  as an extender of the network
    Problems that  I found:
    -     Wirelessly the base is not found by Airport utility
    -     To find the base I have to plug an Ethernet cable from the Netgear Router to a port on the Airport base, but not the first WAN port,  I have to use one of the others.
    -     When I find the base  I try setting-up it with the Bridge Mode, but then it gives errors 6753 or 10057.
    -     I tried to change settings on the Netgear  Router  or  reset them, but nothing ..
    and so on many tries.
If someone of you had  the same Netgear Modem Router (DGN2200)  and use an Airport Extreme base like an extender in bridge mode, please tell me what configuration, in the Router Modem and on the Airport base,  works fine.
Thank you very much in advance.
    Best regards.

I can only create a  “New Wireless Network” (no bridge mode) connected to Netgear Modem Router by Ethernet cable ,  in this way I would have 2 networks, one from the Netgear and another  from the Airport, but the source of wireless will be in the same room (because they will be connected together by cable).
I already provided the instructions for this in my post above. Here they are again:
Configure the AirPort to "create a wireless network" using the same wireless network name, same wireless security and same wireless password as the Netgear network....and...configure the AirPort Extreme in Bridge Mode to work correctly on the network.
If you do this, then the AirPort and Netgear devices will work together to act like one "big" network. That is because you have two routers producing the same network.
If  I bought 2 Powerline extenders, one connected close to the Netgear Router and the other one connected to power line in the other room,
could I connect  by cable the Airport Extreme to the second extender
If you cannot connect an Ethernet cable from the Netgear to the AirPort Extreme, then you might be able to use a pair of Ethernet powerline adapters to send the signal over the AC wiring in your home.
I have not found powerline products to be reliable in general when I have used them, so make sure that you understand the store's return policies in advance if you decide to try them.

Try the netgear support forums. This is a Linksys forum. If you have a problem with a Linksys router you are at the right place. If you have a problem with a Netgear router you should go to a Netgear forum.

  • Does anyone know how to instal a 33600bps modem on OS X 10.7.4?

Hello people from around the world!
I'm having a very hard time to find out how to instal a 33600bps modem on my OS X 10.7.4. The modem is conected to my MBP through a Prolific USB cable which I already have instaled. My problem is to be able to connect the MBP to this 33600bps modem.

Just to make sure I understand correctly:
This is a modem just for faxing or for an internet connection?
If it is for an internet connection, what company (ISP) are you dealing with???? This would be an extremely slooow dialup connection.
Most ISP's either require you to rent or purchase one of their modems or have an "approved and compatible model" list so you can go out and buy one yourself.

I have the router type, Digicom RAW300U-A02 , linux inside.
I would like install the proxy software "Squid".
I've connected my router through ssh and i've seen the busybox interface with this commands:
    # busybox
    BusyBox v1.00 (2012.11.08-03:54+0000) multi-call binary
    Usage: busybox [function] [arguments]...
    or: [function] [arguments]...
BusyBox is a multi-call binary that combines many common Unix
utilities into a single executable. Most people will create a
link to busybox for each function they wish to use, and BusyBox
will act like whatever it was invoked as.
    Currently defined functions:
[, arp, ash, basename, busybox, cat, chmod, chown, cp, cut, date,
dd, df, dirname, dmesg, echo, egrep, env, expr, false, fdisk,

sysctl, tar, test, tftp, top, traceroute, true, udhcpc, udhcpd,
umount, uname, uptime, usleep, vconfig, wc, yes, zcat
how to install software with only those commands ?
i should download the sw directly from busybox, meaning from router, or from my pc and then put it in the router ?
    thanks

the why is limiting bandwidth usage of one pc.

hmmm not sure if this will work at all because you have no idea as to what dependancies your going to need or if you will have the space required. Adding to that many routers load the OS into ram from a rom chip therefore you will loose everything you do on a reboot!
You could look into JTAG hacking your router at the risk of bricking it OR just get an old unused pc & re-purpoose it as a proxy with rules set up to only affect the target pc you wish to restrict.
If you insist on putting all of this in your router you will need space for the cache aswell also this will impact performance of the router due to more processes running & no clue of the resources the router has.

  • How to Install 3G Broadband Modem in Tecra R850

My model Number is: TECRA R850 PT520A-01S003
I Found SIM card conector under bettery but no 3G modem Hardware installed.
I bought a 3G Broadband Card [Sierra MC8775 HSDPA ] but how to install?

I don't know if all of the motherboards have the connectors needed, or if the models without the 3G card installed at the factory have the needed antenna.
There is a small port on the bottom of the computer that you can open after removing a screw.  This allows access to the connectors for antennae to the WiFi and (if present) 3G cards.  So you could at least see if the antennae are there(or at least their connectors).
However, the cards themselves seem to be larger than the port, and require pretty much a complete diassembly of the computer in order to get to the motherboard.  And even then, it is possible that the connector for the 3G card may not exist on the motherboard.

  • How to install Toshiba software modem on Tecra M2

It has been a few months since I used dial up, then whilst travelling and found no ethernet cable to plug into I tried the dial up modem and it didn't work and was giving an error saying the modem was misconfigured or already in use.
On closer inspection it seems the modem was configured to use COM3 port which did not show up on the device manager listing. I tried to amend the com port to COM11 which was listed as unused and then the window hung though the rest of the laptop / XP worked.
I had to reboot the computer and found that the Toshiba Software Modem was no longer installed.
So I went to the drivers site and downloaded the driver and tried to install it. It spent a few minutes updating the drivers then the window closed without any error message. Going to control panel modems add modem have driver and clicking on the INF file did nothing.
So how do I get back the Toshiba Software Modem and when I do which port do I assign it to, also how do I know if all the COM ports are being recognised?

I have a tecra M1 and no modem will work on it. I first installed the 2000 OS drivers by mistake could not start device from the forums.
I realized my mistake and found the xp drivers. UNinstalled the old ones, XP drivers installed nicely; looks fine no errors no conflicts, working properly com port 3.
But when I query modem i get the port could not be opened it is busy please check the device manager for other problems with devices.
I do see that all items are installed correctly.
They are BUT I DID NOT INSTALL THE DRIVERS in the order prescribed in the instructions.
The modem got installed after lan and wireless and a bunch of other stuff.
I wanted to do a system restore to when I just installed windows XP Pro ( not the image of the M1) but I had not activated windows until after I installed the wireless drivers. I was afraid I would deactivate windows and that would be a bummer so I just created a restore point called "before I uninstalled drivers".
Then I went to the control panel add or remove programs and removed everything in the opposite order from the install instructions, when I rebooted the wireless and lan installed before the modem and the modem still was not functional even though it said it ws working properly in the DM>
Then I uninstalled wireless and lan installed the modem then rebooted AUGHHH. Not working
Well, before this I purchased a used modem and installed it and that set up fine also and did not work I got the same error message!!! AUGHH
THEN, I instaled a PCMCIA modem, It set up perfectly and got the same rror message. DOUBLE AUGHHHH
So thats when I go to thinking of the correct order of install and sigh..........
Well, if I system restore it, the way back to the time immediately after I installed windows and the rest will I be deactivated with Microsoft?
And do you think it would work?
If not if I wiped it and reinstalled XP and installed in the correct order do you think the modem problem would be fixed.
    Any ideas?

Hi,<br><br>Please go easy with me, I really know very little about all this !<br>We have a Deskjet 3055A printer which has been linked wirelessly to my iPad and a MacBook without a problem until now.<br>We have installed a new router. I am thinking that we have to amend our network in some way ?<br>I have tried to run the HP cd on the MacBook to amend it, but all I get is the message as follows...<br>"Unsupported operating system. Welcome to the community @Teekayk
I understand you are trying to install your Deskjet 3055A on your Mac, running Mavericks. The installation CD may be compatible up to 10.6, and that could be why you are seeing the error message.
This link should help you. It will show you how to install the printer on your Mac. There is no full driver and software available for the Deskjet 3055A on Mavericks, which basically means you will need to review your other options to scan on your Mac through Apple Updates, which is all included in the guide.

  • Best cable modem & router combined?

I have the Motorola Surfboard SBG900, but was wondering if there are newer (and better) combo cable modem/wireless routers now available.
Also, is cable still much faster than DSL, and, if not, are there good combined modem/routers for DSL?
    Thanks.

We might be able to give you an opinion on a "best" modem, but it would be of no use to you if your Internet Service Provider did not support that model.....so you had no help when....not if....you have a problem.
Instead, please check the list of supported modems that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) likely has on their website and post back with those models.
Then, users might have some feedback for you on the upsides and downsides of the particular modem model they are using.
Alternately, if you could tell us which ISP you are using, that might help expedite things.
Finally, please designate whether you are looking for a simple modem.....or a modem/router or gateway combination device.

  • How to install Netgear AC1750 for WiFi

I have Xfinity Triple Play, with TG862G Voice and Data Modem. The WiFi performance is horrible so I would like to use an available Netgear AC1750 WiFi Cable Modem Router to improve range and performance but it does not have voice capability.  Is there a way to configure the existing TG862G to perform as modem for digital voice and connect the AC1750 for WiFi routing?

    Here's Comcast's official instructions
    http://customer.xfinity.com/help-and-support/internet/wireless-gateway-enable-disable-bridge-mode
Make sure you connect the new router to LAN port 1 on the gateway, as 2,3 & 4 will be disabled once the gateway is in bridge mode.
Use a wired ethernet connection between your computer and the equipment to do this.

  • Using Airport Extreme (802.11n) with Netgear Wireless Modem Router

I have a quick question, can I use the Airport Extreme in a wireless modem router?(http://www.netgear.co.uk/wirelessadslrouterdg834g.php)
By plugging the Airport into the Netgear router would I be able to by pass and run a network this way. I have a 802.11n enabled MacBook and Apple TV, the Netgear is the weakest link!!!
    Many thanks.

neptune2000's post was implying that you connect the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) to the Netgear.
The AEBS does NOT contain a modem. Therefore you will need a modem, either the Netgear or another.
