I am thinking about buying a new iMac and want to know how to install new music if there is no cd drive available.

You could buy an external CD/DVD drive, or do what Apple want you to do: download everything from iTunes!

Make a backup of your media and other important files.
Just to be safe, make a backup of your entire iTunes directory.
Restore computer or do whatever it is you need to do.
Restore your media and other important documents.
Install iTunes.
Try using search next time... this gets asked way too frequently.

So ever since I downloaded the new version of iTunes, I have no idea how to add music to my iPod. On the last version, their was a box next to the iTunes Store box that said "_______'s iPod". Because I just used to drag my music to the box and add it through there, I have no idea where I would "drag" my music file now to add it. Then you can manually manage media on your iDevice as you always have.
Alternatively, control the content on the device by syncing the playlists and other media that you desire to the device.

I just downloaded the new system for iPhone 4. First time I tried to play my songs on iTunes it started scanning titles, that's all. I can't get it to play. What's going on? These are songs synched from my MacBook Pro, some I wrote and recorded and others. The only one I can get it to play is one I downloaded from iTunes.

Could you go a little slower? Use smaller words?
Think I figured it out. iTunes seems to download the music...or something like that...the first time it's used. Had to cycle through all of them before it would play. Playing fine now.

i recently upgraded my iphone4 to iphone5, i used iclloud to back up everything but my music, all my music is on itunes (the new itunes - i had to download the new itunes because of the phone) i have tired several times to sync my phone to import my music onto this new iphone but its not working.

i tried to sync automatically - this didnt work

iTunes will transfer the purchases made from the iTunes Store from your iPhone to your computer. It treats all other music syncing as a one-way street, to comply with copyright laws (wont sync stuff not purchased on iTunes from your iPhone to your computer).
But, you can import the other songs from a computer backup or rip them from a CD again. Then sync them to the new iPhone.

I've downloaded the latest version of iTunes, but can't figure out how to move music and playlists from the iTunes library onto my iPod. In earlier versions, you only had to drag a playlist onto the iPod. That doesn't seem to be an option now.

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar.

How can i get all of the new music I loaded into iTunes onto my iPod without deleting the content that is already on it?

I just loaded a bunch of music from my CD library into iTunes in the hopes of loading it onto my iPod. The problem is now I can't figure out how to do it. Two issues... First it says that if I synch it will delete what is already on my iPod which I absolutely do not want. Second, is there a way to load each of the albums without having to create a play list?

You can only sync your device to one iTunes library at a time. You can either copy the music from the library on your other computer to the one you have loaded the new CDs onto, or you can purchase an external CD Drive and load them to the iTunes library you are currently sync'd with:

For syncing, I am not familiar with the drag and drop method. I have always used the normal sync process:
iTunes 12 for Mac: Sync iPod, iPhone, or iPad

How can I sync my old music library in my new nano to the new library???

CAN'T COMBINE MUSIC LIBRARIES:
Got a new 6th gen nano. X-ferred my old music lib to new nano. Gave my old nano to my hubs and he erased most of the music and added his own.(so, he has the same name for the old nano that I was using) Now, when I try to add more music to my new nano, I get a message asking me if I want to erase all the music content and add the new stuff. Well, of course I do not want to do this as I have hundreds of songs in the old music library. I also get a message saying that the old music lib is associated with a diff account name and I cannot have 2 music libs running on one iPod. Can anyone tell me how I an get the two libs combined? Do I need to back up the old music and add it to the new lib? Or, can I add the new music (only about 50 songs) to the old lib? (the latter would be much easier, as it would take 10-12 CD's to store my old lib and much time burning the cd's. I naively thot that I could add music to the new nano under the same music lib as the old nano. HELP!

Syncing is one way street, computer to iPhone. You have to use 3rd party tool to transfer music not from iTunes Store to the computer.
