HOW to install Nomad Jukebox on XP

Searching for hours, all over the web, still lost.
PLEASE HELP!!!
*Nomad Jukebox original (serial# DAPKGO)
*Windows XP
Upgraded my computer to an XP machine and I simply want to install ANY software to be able to add songs to my Jukebox.
All I can find are firmware updates or files limited to Nomad 2, 3, Zen and higher. And the CD-ROM that came with this when purchased new a few years ago won't let me install b/c it's not XP-compatible.
Thank you if you can spare a moment to help!

puzzled and no_clue:
If you download the drivers for the JB (or JB2) then you can connect to the player using Windows Media Player and transfer the songs onto your PC.
JB drivers are here:
http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ype=0&details=
and JB2 drivers are here:
http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ype=0&details=
On the JB2 page is a new MediaSource download and the plugin required for the JB2. The JB plugin is on the JB page.
When I installed the MediaSource upgrade tonight I was prompted to have my player connected as it was searching for a qualifying product (Creative don't want everyone use MS so they detect whether you are a customer in this way). So install the relevant driver file first. Then, when your PC is detecting the player, connect it up, switch it on and install MS v3.
Hope this helps you both.

  • Nomad Jukebox - new computer, no install di

    Hi,
As the title says - I have an older Jukebox (DAPAG0) that I like, and would like to add new tunes to. I have a new computer (XP), and can't find the old install disks.
I've read two older threads, and searched for *ware on the Creative support site, but I can't make heads or tails of it.
My Device Manager gives a big yellow ? for this device, says it has no driver.
Looking on the Creative site, I see a list of files.
I tried to install " 7. Creative NOMAD Jukebox driver (844.50KB)" and ". NOMAD Jukebox Driver Installer (844.7 KB)", which tell me "Please reconnect device" for the driver to take effect. No dice.
I have tried to install "2. Creative MediaSource Software Update version 2.03.29 (39.46 MB) 24 Aug 05" and a Creative Media Source version 3 that was linked in the other thread. Both of these self-extract, then I get an install shield that says "Unable to detect" no matter how many times I disconnect and reconnect, turn on and turn off, the player.
Please help?! Many thanks in advance.

  • How to upgrade the hard disk of the nomad jukebox

I read the FAQ of nomad on nomadness.net, I wanna know how to upgrade the hard disk of old nomad jukebox with a bigger one?
I also read a artical on tom's hardware about this,
    http://www7.tomshardware.com/mobile/20000/mp3-3.html
    but he gave a link
    http://www.kuren.org/jukebox
that is not available. He mentioned that it need to clone the fist 65536 sectors from the old disk to the new one, but I have not the old hard disk( I bought a second hand nomad jukebox without the original hard disk). How should I do?
Does someone have the image file of the fist 65536 sectors from the old disk?
    Thank you!

That was the old method before Creative published their Bootcode Flasher software.
    Follow the instructions here:
    http://www.nomadness.net/modules.php...ticle&artid=24
All files mentioned are available somewhere on Nomadness. Also check out the sticky thread in their JB section of the forum as it lists what hard dri'ves will work in a JB and which ones won't. I hope you haven't already bought your upgrade hard dri've.
I used the above method without any problems and now have a 20GB JB.

  • Should I install "Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSourc

I have the Play For Sure firmware on my Zen Touch, now I'm going to first install the driver on my computer, then install the creative media source, then the play for sure software suite, and then the media source CD plugin. Should I also install the Zen & Nomad Jukebox plugin afterward or that's only for ppl who haven't upgraded the firmware?
    Thanks!

The "Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource" is for those who have the non-PlaysForSure firmware. So, you do not need to install it.

  • Problems installing drivers for my nomad jukebox 1

i have a nomad jukebox 0gb and im having trouble getting it set up on my computer. im running win xp pro, and my jukebox is running firmware version 2.96. i dont have a cd, so i downloaded and installed the drivers, but my computer still does not recognize the jukebox and treats it as new hardware every time i plug it in.
strangely, when i plug it into my clamshell running os 9.2, the jukebox is recognized in itunes. i used itunes to put an mp3 on it (even though it was just a converted aim sound file).
i have formatted the jukebox, but am still facing the same problems, and am not sure what else i can do. thanks.Message Edited by monstour on 06-24-2005 0:32 AM

i have tried the jukebox on multiple computers, including other desktops and laptops with xp pro, and it has worked.
something else i noticed is when i try to install the drivers, the installer is skipping the regsvr32.exe file in the windows folder.

  • Transferring tracks from Nomad Jukebox 2 to MUVO with Creative MediaSource Player/Organi

I recently installed Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer . When I transfer tracks from Nomad Jukebox 2 to my MUVO the tracks are transferrred as folders, not tracks (which the MUVO cannot play). How do I get the Nomad Explorer to transfer the MP3s as tracks and not folders? I'd appreciate your help.
P.S. I do not have this problem when I use Creative Playcenter to do a similar tranfer.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Perhaps there's some confusion with the MuVo Explorer, or plain Windows Explorer.

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra - Windows sees it - Mediasource installation does not

HI, I have tried to recover from a failed HD and on the new installation - the jukebox is detected by windows. This I know in the "Device Manager" where I can see the "nomad juke box" with a yellow sign on it. But when I go to install the Mediasource application - it says "failed to detect a device" retry/abort (ouch). I have tried the following options
Moved the cable to a different USB port (not connected via hub anymore)(but windows was seeing the device).
Then I thought maybe an older model of the mediasource will work - nope.
Then I tried installing? NomadSync (source forge) installs fine - but I do not know how to work it
Then I tried installing Nomad Explorer - no go without media source.
Ok this player is fine - works fine - the version of firmware is .20.08 (I think). It was in the car for about one year
Other Ideas : use Red Chair software - then install Mediasource on top of that
    Any ideas welcome.

Ok, this worked out accidentally - but happily
I first installed the driver - not the media source - but the driver for the device.
After that the windows device manager yellow sign disappeared - apparently the device driver was registered by windows.
Then I Installed Mediasource 5 - the installation went thru fine.
Does anyone have any recommended updates to install, please also advise what benefits.
    Thanks.

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra: Nomad Explorer says Not connected ... first time u

I just bought a Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra. I used the installation CD to install everything and Windows automatically tried to locate a driver for it but it was not successful, so I downloaded the driver for the Zen Xtra from this website and installed it.
However, when I open "Nomad Explorer" it shows the player's logo with a red X and says "Not connected". How do I get the player to connect to the computer?
This is my first time using a Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra and I have limited computer knowledge, but I know all my USB ports are working.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    -John

Hi!?I'm having the same problem. I bought the player, but after a couple of weeks I've exchanged it, because of some hardware problem. The original player worked all right, but the new one is not recognized by NOMAD Explorer ("not connected"), and?I also?can't copy files via Windows Explorer. The strange thing is I managed to copy a couple of albums, but then it'sstarted to hang the Explorer. The firmware version is 2.0.03. I reinstalled the drivers and NOMAD Explorer - didn't help. PS: You've got to help me, 'cause my iPod-loving friends laugh at me, so it's my and Creative's reputation we're talking about

  • Nomad Jukebox zen nx : library does not load in

After replugging my Nomad Jukebox Zen Nx (.00.05e) to my computer, CMS(3.0.09) did not recognize the player. I followed the tips on this forum and installed the latest drivers and plug-ins.
Now the player appears in the device manager, but the library loads at an incredible low speed : even after 3 hours it was not finished yet.
How to solve this problem ?

Just to confirm that you have the following latest:
    <FONT face=Helv size=2>
    - Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site.
    - Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.

  • Replacement Software CD for Nomad Jukebox

    Hi,
Does anybody know how I can get a replacement installation CD for my Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen? My CD has been damaged and will not now play, it's not a major problem for me at the moment as everything is installed and working, but if I have a problem or want to move to a new PC I will be unable to install or repair my jukebox software.
There is no obvious part number on my CD but it is from 2002 and contains; Creative PlayCenter 3, Creative File Manager, Creative Audio Stream Recorder and some manuals.
I have searched the Creative website but can see no way of obtaining a copy direct from Creative.
    I am in the UK.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

  • No driver found - Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra - WinXP

I have used my Zen Xtra for over 2 years now, with the same PC I am currently having problems with. I recently had to do a complete reinstall of Windows (note that I have done at least 2 other complete reinstalls during the life of my Zen Xtra, with no problems). Windows Device Managers sees the NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra, but with the yellow question mark and exclamation point. Each attempt at driver installation results in the same problem. The driver ("JB3MV2_PCWDRV_US__30_03.EXE") installs completely, I'm told to reconnect my device so the driver can take effect. When I do, the device is still marked in Device Manager with exclamation point and yellow question mark, and Windows continues to ask if it can find and install the driver. I have told it not to (knowing that I just installed Creative's own driver), with no success, and other times let Windows try to install the driver (hoping it would find the Creative driver that was just installed). No luck. I have even done another complete reinstall of Windows, and tried to install the driver before any other program or hardware installations into my system. No luck. Note that there are no hardware changes between now and when I have done other complete Windows reinstallations. It just no longer accepts the Creative driver. I have also tried to install the driver in safe mode, with the same results. I have also completely removed the Zen Xtra (showing hidden devices in the Device Manager), and tried to reinstall. Firmware version of Zen Xtra was upgraded over a year ago to 2.0.03.
    Specifics:
    Windows XP Pro SP2
    38GB free hard dri've space
    Zen Xtra firmware version: 2.0.03

I have the same problem. But when i try to installl it it says he is missing an .nfo file.
I removed WMP and reinstalled WM0 because is crap.
    I have Windows XP SP2
I have the newst firmware on it.
Can somebody help me with this because it's annoying not to put any new music on your mp3 player.
I never experienced this before even after formatting my HD.
Almost the same problem as fritzm but not completely because het gets an different error.
I have installed the CD but that doesnt work either.
I have installed the software from the website but that didnt help because he doesnt recognize my player.
    Please help!!

  • Unable To Repair/Update Firmware for a Creative Nomad Jukebox

    Hello all,
I've been trying for the past...3 or 4 hours to get my player to work, but it simply refuses to work =P. I sent the problem into Creative, but haven't gotten a response for a couple days now. So, here's a copy-paste of what I sent in that e-mail. If you can think of anything that might help, please don't hesitate to post! I really need your help on this one!
My player's hard dri've recently died, and I received
a replacement from the original store (a CompUSA).
However, my Firmware for the device has failed. I
tried the firmware upgrade for my Zen, but after
a certain number of tries, I gave up. Here is the
list of steps that I followed.
On Zen: Click "Reload OS", let it run, it says
    run the firmware upgrader now.
On Computer: "You cannot install this firmware
update with your player's current drivers using
the SB394 connector. To update your player's
    firmware, this application will temporarily
replace the current drivers and restore them after
    the installation is complete. Continue
installation?", I click Yes. Then it says to
disconnect, and re-connect. I do it.
It shows my version (.2.0), and I'm upgrading/
repairing it to .2.02. When I click "Upgrade", a
warning message pops up and says:
"Your player cannot start up properly. Please
reboot your player and run this application again.
I've done this at least 0 times, and nothing changes. My player is a Nomad Jukebox Zen, the one with a FireWire connection, and like I said,
I've tried this at least 0 times with the same results. Is there a process to completely remove
the firmware on the device, then reinstall it,
or to roll it back or something? Any other ideas
to fix this problem is needed as well.

    Bump.
