How to install ODBC Drivers in Oracle

Hello All,
I want to install ODBC Drivers (from Oracle vender, Not from the DataDirect ).
I have downloaded the ODBC Drivers for Sparc( from official Oracle website) but while installation it is asking for DriverManagers Installtion..
Where Can I get this Driver Manager........
Please help me how to install ODBC Drivers on Unix platforms....

Please help me how to install ODBC Drivers on Unix platforms....You should be able to install them as a component of your client (or server) installation. Just use the Oracle Installer to add them.

Hi, I need to install ODBC drivers in oracle clients, so I choose "Customized" installation and then the "Oracle Windows Interfaces" component. However, OUI will also try to intall the Microsoft Transaction Server component under the previous mentioned node, and also "Oracle Object for OLE" and "Oracle Provider for OLE DB".
The question is: how can I install the ODBC drivers ALONE? I want to keep my clients with the minimal possible installation.

Have you looked at the 10g Instant Client? That's going to be a lot smaller and a lot easier to install.

I need to install ODBC drivers for Oracle on a W95 machine.
I tryed to install ODBC Oracle drivers on my W95 machine but when
I extracted the zipped file from ora8052 it created a directory
called win32; then I searched for the 'setup' executable...
without to find one...
In the readme file, on 'software required' I read that I need the
Oracle Net8 client and teh Oracle8 installer to install ODBC.
Where can I find Oracle Net8 client and teh Oracle8 installer
without downloading all the try and by version of Oracle??

you have to get hold of a CD containing Oracle Client software;
you should ask Oracle for it. SQL*Net itself is free for
owners of the server license, but I do not know how Oracle
handles users of the free development kits. If you plan to
use Oracle for software development I strongly recommend to enter
one of the partner programmes; it's not free, but very good value
for money.

How can I install JDBC drivers for Oracle?!?....

i have a program that has this line:
import oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource;
that gives this error when I compile it:
package oracle.jdbc.pool does not exist
So I think I need to install JDBC drivers for Oracle. (?)

and downloaded the files for JDBC Thin.

by entering these commands (I'm using Ubuntu):
export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/path/to/files/ojdbc6.jar
export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/path/to/files/orai18n.jar
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/path/to/files
When I type echo $CLASSPATH I can see that those commands worked, but it hasn't made any difference when I try to compile.
I still get the same error. Is it because I didn't do anything about the .so files? The readme page didn't mention them in the installation section.
Please help! I am so stuck...

I don't think you need the shared libraries (.so files) and given what I saw when I glanced at those pages, I don't think they'd even work for you, although maybe I just didn't read enough of it.
What happens when you type
javap oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceon the command line?
How are you invoking javac? Are you perhaps passing a classpath argument?
Are you sure that the path to the jar files is correct? Are the paths relative?

Installing ODBC Drivers on a Server with multiple users.

We are trying to install ODBC drivers on our web server and want to know what is the minimum we can install and be able to add a DSN through the MS ODBC Administrator. This is a server that is used by multiple companies and we do not want to do something that will affect them.
The oracle installation does not warn you when it overwrites existing files, which is why we cannot simply install everything. For example, on my test machine it trashed the Java installation without asking or telling me. I discovered it this morning when I tried to go to a site that uses Java. That was a low risk on the SQL server, because we did not have Java installed. Other elements, though, cannot be risked in that fashion. We have to find out what files are required in order to solve the problem.

Version 9i on a Windows 2003 Server.

1) I’m not certain about the overwrite vs separate machine. What happened is that it installed its own Java, which was much older than the Java previously installed. Following the oracle installation, internet explorer was no longer able to find Java at all, prompting for a new Java installation. During the installation, no mention was made of the changes that were being made.
2) Each company has its own account on our server, its own instance of the database, etc. nowhere in the oracle release notes or the installer could I find anything that provided for a user-limited installation: it was global. Even though the oracle installation suggested, and I accepted, unique folders for its installation targets, the problems mentioned occurred. The web server it wants to install is not possible to be user-limited: it wanted to take over http for the machine.

This is JDBC we are talking about. Not ODBC. There are other serious errors too but that's your biggest one.

and i have extracted the zip file that zip file contains the below files :

When I try to install using odbc_install I am getting the below error.

You either download drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant and save to USB FAT disk, or you insert and use 10.6.x OS X DVD when in Windows and install and run the SETUP from there.

I'm not sure of the meaning of ORA-00900 for Oracle XE but I think that PL/SQL is already installed by default according to the XE features list.

In tcode SPAD, goto "Utilities --> For device types --> Import".
There are specific notes regarding specific manufactures, search the SAP portal for notes in application area BC-CCM-PRN-DVM.
Check SAP Note 8928 for a start.

Can any body tell me about how to install printer drivers. In my case standard drivers(sapwin,swin ..etc) are not supporting. printer drivers are available in Manufacturer site . Can any body please suggest how to install the drivers.

You will need to create separate device types for each printer family installed at your installation or if each printer family require either simplex or duplex printing.
1. Go to Spool Administration screen by using transaction code SPAD from the initial screen of SAP.
2. From the SPAD screen choose menu path Utilities-->for device types --> IMPORT (or you can run RSTXSCRP program from SE38, too).
3. In the initial screen of SAPscript Export to Dataset/SAPscript Import from Dataset enter the following:
a) Check Radio button for device type.
b) In the Object Name field enter object name of the device type file (please see the table at the end of this document for object names)
c) MODE must be IMPORT
In the Ctrl parameters for file operation
d) Check radio button for "From/on frontend" ( Generally this would be the default)
That's it. Don't enter anything else. Execute by clicking execute button or function key F8.
4. In the Create Object Directory Entry window that pops up, enter your development class and press enter
5. You will get a pop up Window Import from a Local File. Browse through the Window to enter the filename in your local directory and click Transfer button.

I don't know where's dads.conf file to make change

A little bit odd is an understatement. The first time I found I had to download over 1Gb of stuff to run a simple web server I practically fell over! Hopefully, the Apex Listener team will update it to have backwards compatibility with mod_plsql and we can ignore trying to install Oracle Fusion Middleware Web Tier Utilities...
However, until then the TNS Names error generally means that there isn't a TNS alias set up for the database you have referenced in the mod_plsql dad. If you open up the dads.conf file you should see something like
PlsqlDatabaseConnectString localhost:1521:databasealias
If you then open a command prompt and do TNSPING databasealias you should get a response like this
Used TNSNAMES adapter to resolve the alias
Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)
(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = ***)))
OK (20 msec)
If you don't it means you need to add it in.

In order to create and develop a webcenter portal application, you only need to install JDeveloper and download the WeBCenter extensions. That's true.
But this install does not include the WebCenter services like dicussions, document services, analytics,... If you want to use these and integrate them in your portal, then you would need to install the suite as described on my blog.

How to install ODBC driver minimally

Oracle9i provides ODBC driver download page. the dirver is small, only 2M after installation. However, it does not work unless Oracle Net Client is installed correctly.
The question I want to ask is, what components should I install for the Net Client? or is there any straightforward installation program for ODBC driver?
I just want to make the installed ODBC driver and its dependencies use minimal Hard Disk space.

Unfortunately, that's as small as it gets if you want to have a supported configuration.
If you're really stuck, you may want to investigate third-party ODBC drivers. DataDirect has a "thin" ODBC driver they'd be happy to sell you.

Hi,
Run d:/oracle/ora81/rdbms/admin/utlsmtp.sql as SYS user. It create the package UTL_SMTP.
