How to install old themes on Tiger

Hey folks,
I bought iLife 08 or whatever (iWorks maybe?) with my MacBook Pro back in the days of Tiger, installed it and am now running iDVD 7.0.3 and missing the older themes. I have not gone over to Leopard although I got it with the MBPro.
I read up on it and see that I am to reinsert the original installation disks and run the Additional Software installer. No can do- there IS only the Optional Software installer and it did not do the trick. In fact I ought not have done it... Am worried I overwrote perfectly good, updated, apps with old versions. Hmm...
Is there somewhere where I can get the old themes, perhaps even just pick and choose? I am only interested in Wedding Silver, Picture in Picture and a couple of the others like the one with the old cine projector.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I used Google for some more themes and eventually also installed iLife's ones again. Not ideal but at least there are a few new ones. Now- if we could completely customise them...?

  • How to get Old Themes into iDVD 7.1.2?

I'm running iDVD 7.1.2 on an iMac running Mavericks 10.9.1.  When I open an iDVD project I have access to theme for iDVD 7 and iDVD 6.  When try to select an Old Theme a window opens inviting me to install additional themes by choosing Download Now.
However, when I choose OK to download now the App Store opens to the Update screen and tells me there are no updates available.  What gives?  How are the old themes to be installed?

Did you have all of the themes previously on the iMac?  Look in the Home/LIbrary/Applicatiion Support/iWeb folder or in the HD/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to see if all the themes are there.
Did your Mac or a previous Mac come with install disks and was iDVD preinstalled on it?  If so and you still have the disks you can use those disks  to do a custom install of iDVD's themes,  If you have trouble getting the disks to work you can always use  Pacifist to extract and install just the themes.
Otherwise you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

You need to use application manager of Pc suite to install the theme. It copies to phone by default. Ensure that the theme is suited to work with your phone.

how to install old softwere to my ipod tuch 2??

What do you mean by older software?
If you mean that some apps that were compatible with your 2G were updated and version currently in the App store are not longer available, the only way to get those apps to work is to:
    - Obtain a newer model iPod.
    - If you have a version on your computer such as in a computer file backup that you can restore to your iTunes library and sync to the iPod. You can only obtain the current version from the App store.

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Can't Install Old Themes (using iDVD '08 on Leopard)

    Hello,
I have a problem opening old projects (created using iDVD 3 or 4, can't remember) in iDVD '08 because I'm not able to install the old themes that are necessary. When I try to download the themes the software update program doesn't seem to find them as an available update. Trying to install them from my Max OS X disc fails with an error message that I need at least iDVD version 7.0.
    Any ideas?

iDVD will be on the system install disk. Use Pacifist to locate, extract and install iDVD from it. Move your current iDVD to another location or rename it so you can go back to it after the themes are installed. You might even be able to locate the themes package with Pacifist and just extract and install them. I'd look at that first.

  • Awesome WM how to install a theme?

So I'm new to Awesome and want to install a theme. I've edited the rc.lua file so this like is there:
    beautiful.init(awful.util.getdir("config") .. "/themes/zenburn/theme.lua")
Now I go into ~/.config/awesome/themes and I have default, zenburn and sky. I want to install this theme:
    https://awesome.naquadah.org/wiki/Subtle_hacker_theme
So I copy that, make a new dir in ~/.config/awesome/themes title subtlehacker and create a theme.lua. Then I paste it in and edit rc.lua so its like this:
    beautiful.init(awful.util.getdir("config") .. "/themes/subtlehacker/theme.lua")
But when I restart it's all screwed up and the top bar is white and I can't press anything I need to kill awesome and restart again.

That theme is outdated. The format must be:
    theme = {}
    theme.var = "value"
    return theme
Take a look at one of the default themes.

  • How to install iDVD/iMovie on Tiger if you have the Leopard version of iLif

I have iLife '09 and iWork '09. Will these work on Tiger 10.4.11? I bought those for my Leopard computer. But the computer with Tiger I don't think it will run on it. How do I get the Tiger version of iDVD, iMovie, iPhoto, and all the other apps included in iLife and iWork? Would I have to get another CD and pay full price?

iWork '09 will work with Tiger.

  • How to install snow leopard on tiger

I need to update my MacBook Pro form tiger to snow leopard. How should I do? Thanks.

You need to purchase Snow Leopard from Apple's online store's telesales agents.[1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775.] Ask for a Sales Representative.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
    Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
    Snow Leopard from eBay
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
I suggest that before you install Snow Leopard you make a backup of your current installed system, then erase the drive and make a clean installation of Snow Leopard.

  • How to install old version of Flash Player ActiveX

    Hello,
I have to install Flash Player ActiveX 10.1.x or 10.3.x because it is required by my application. 11.x version I tried made issues.
I downloaded various 10.x versions : they all told me that this version is not the newest => I can only quit the installation.
How can I avoid that message ?
What does Adobe care which version I want to install because I have to ?????
Thank you for your help !

Please run the appropriate uninstaller linked below.  That should allow you to run older installers without receiving that error.

Currently I only installed gnome and gnome-extra.
did you say 'yes' to all? i may be confusing the name of the entry, too. it's in the administrative tab in the menu (whatever it's called. 'system', maybe. usually the last one on the right) and it's usually something like 'login manager'. you might want to look at the menu editor and see if it's been somehow unchecked from the menu.
