How to install Oracle 10g with its grid functionality on Linux?

Well, I thought changing the subject line might help to convey the meaning of what I want better. Here's my earlier post from a few hours earlier.
Hi,
I need carry out TPC-C benchmarking test for Oracle 10g (using one, two and four servers; basically using the grid in case of multiple servers). I have installed oracle 10g (with default options) on all the four servers, but beyond that I have no idea as to how can I invoke the grid option in order to carry out the tests-by my statement, I mean do I need to choose grid option while installing Oracle or is it the case that I specify the grid option in the code that I write for carrying out the tests. The OS is LInux (Scientific Linux).
An unrelated problem-one of the servers is 64 bit while others are 32 bit, and proper versions of oracle have been installed. Neglecting the obvious fact that this will make comparisons difficult does anyone anticipate any other problem?

if the name Real Application Clusters implies that
the servers have to be in a cluster?
The basic idea of RAC is all these hosts need to share same set of storage. The most popular such storage are SAN and NAS.

I'm new to both Linux and Oracle. I've been working on an installion of Oracle 10g on a Red Hat Linux 5 Server for about 2 weeks. I've been doing a lot of reading about installing Oracle on a Linux environment. I finally got to the installation portion and the Oracle Installer displayed a message that I had to have Red Hat 4 or 4 Enterprise to continue.
How can Install Oracle 10g onto a Red Hat 5 Linux Server"? Is there an option that I can use to bypass the OS checking?

Unfortunately there is no way to access metalink without a valid account. You could then just try to skip preinstall requisites with this clause:
./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs
or this method:
Copy the oraparam.ini from the installation source install/oraparam.ini to /tmp directory.
Edit the file /tmp/oraparam.ini so this file reads:

Installing Oracle 10g Express Edition on Red Hat Linux

I am new with Linux Os and have to install oracle 10g Express Edition on Red Hat Linux Os for a customer. So before proceeding, I need some guidelines.
1) which Linux(freeware) flavor should I install ?
2) is there any virtual enviornment available for Linux Os on which I can install 10g Express Edition database ?
3) If available, is there any difference in using the Linux Os in Virtual enviornment and actual installing Linux ? will there be any difference in installing database and configuration for both the cases?
4) need download link for latest version of Red Hat Linux setup

1) which Linux(freeware) flavor should I install ?Ordinarily, I'd recommend getting Oracle Linux (http://eDelivery.oracle.com/linux) because the default install includes all the prerequisite RPM packages you will need. And failing that, also offers another RPM package "oracle-validated" which will cause the installation of the necessary prerequisites.
But... you mentioned customer: if this is a revenue-producing situation and customer money is at stake, I strongly recommend they obtain commercial O/S support with either Oracle, Red Hat, or maybe SuSE/Novell. Compared to the cost of a downed business, an O/S support arrangement is cheap, cheap, cheap.
2) is there any virtual enviornment available for Linux Os on which I can install 10g Express Edition database ?Sure. You can run Oracle VirtualBox on most Linux, Windows, or Solaris boxes. http://VirtualBox.org for info.

Install Oracle 10g with Toad 9.1

I am a novice in database(SQL,PLSQL) programming and hence want to learn and practise very deeply in detail for which i want to install Oracle 10g client with Toad 9.1.So need your advise on the process.
(a)Do i need to download entire Oracle Enterprise Edition Installation for Vista? I have read in one of the forums that downloading only the Oracle Client is enough?
Can you please advise me?
(b)I already have the TOAD 9.1 setup with me which i can install.But,i do not know that how will i use TOAD interface and connect to the oracle database.
(c)Also,any sample script/database with some tables that i can use for learning complex SQL query writing would be very helpful.In brief-any project that i can work on in building all the requirements by writing SQL which simulates real time scenarios of SQL development.

I had another doubt with respect to this.While attending a oracle course,the instructor had told about an installation option of installing oracle 10g on Linux using VMware/virtual -i am sorry i am not sure about it.
So,can you please give your inputs about this process as I dont know about how to setup?

And,what are the steps we need to do ?

I am using Windows 7 Home premium 64bit operating system. While i was installing oracle 10g i got error and not able to install. How to install the Oracle 10g databse on this operating system. The argument would be who wants to install Oracle database on Windows 7. I think most probably by the developers who wants to "Try" something prior deal with a production database, right?
For a developer, installing database using the hack is more than NOT having a local database running from the local system. I installed all the products mentioned with windows7bugs post and used the following tools to successfully connect and retrive data from the database instances.
Toad 9.7.x.x
SQL Developer
SQL/Plus
Developer 6i (Another hack, please check this link http://windows7bugs.wordpress.com/2010/03/01/installing-oracle-developer-forms-reports-6i-on-windows-7-64bit/).
I think the discussion about whether all the features of client/server are still available with such a hacked installation is meaningless as far the information requested was strictly for Windows 7, not for a Server OS.

I need to save all current Oracle 10g Enterprise Manager Grid jobs before our migration. We are running Oracle 10.1.0.4 on Solaris 9. How can I save off the jobs to a file and re-import these after our migration into the new Grid server?

How to install Oracle Express with different NLS_CHARACTERSET

Hi,
When I install Oracle 10g Express on my PC, the characterset is always set to AL32UTF8. For compatibility reasons, I need to have my db in the WE8ISO8859P1 characterset.
How can I achieve this? I allready tried by installing both the Western Europe version as with the Universal version.

Thanks for the feedback although the problem is little bit weired.
A colleague of me installed the express edition with the same setup files but did recieved the correct NLS_CHARACTERSET.
I allready tried by using different regional settings but that didn't do the trick.
