How to Install Oracle developer suite in Ubuntu

I'm using Ubuntu hardy 8.04, and I have to use oracle developer suite to create some report. Does anybody know how to install the thing in Ubuntu. The documentation mention that I have to use Red Hat Enterprise, which I don't have.

No Oracle support for Ubuntu is disappointing.
Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) desktop is more robust than Redhat.
I prefer using Ubuntu to Windows and will move everything to Ubuntu when I can get my applications installed/supported. I already have SQLDevelper running under Ubuntu and it works just fine.

    Hi, everyone.
I have facing problem. How to install Oracle Developer Suite 10g on windows 8. Please send me step by step install.
    Thanks
    Mbulur.

No version of Forms/Reports is currently supported on Windows 8. Also, because Error Correction support for versions older than 11 have ended, no new certifications will be provided for those versions. I would recommend you consider upgrading to Forms/Reports 11.1.2.1 as we are hoping for Win8 certifications in the future for this version.

I would appreciate if you can provide some screen shots for the configuration details and files to be modified for the port and deploying the forms.

  • How to install Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.3 with AS 10.1.2.3

    Hi Guys,
Is there any way of installing Developer Suite 10.1.2.3?
We are upgrading our Application Server from 9.0.4 to 10.1.2.3 and want same version of forms i.e Developer Suite 10.1.2.3
I could find download of Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 but not for 10.1.2.3, so is there any patchset available for this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Av.

    Hi Francois,
Thanks for your inputs, but I came across one forum saying there is one patchset available to upgrade AS and DS 10.1.2.0..2 to 10.1.2.3,
Patchset - 5983622 and so does its Readme note.
So that means 10.1.2.3 is the latest DS available, is that right?
    Secondly the Document - Oracle® Application Server Certification Information 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) B25703-62
    on following link - http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/as_certification_r2_101202.html#CHDBFJFD
Table 4 - Oracle Application Server Certified Oracle Databases (10g and earlier)
mentions that customer database that is certified against 10.1.2 are -
9.2.0.8 or higher (in the 9.2 product line)     10.1.0.4 or higher (in the 10.1 product line)     10.2.0.1.0 or higher (in the 10.2 product line)
So does that mean database 10.1.0.2.0 will not be supported with AS and DS 10.1.2?
    Thanks!

  • Unable to install Oracle Developer Suite 10g on Windows 7

    Hello,
I'm getting the following error message when using OUI on the Specify File Locations screen after providing source and destination:
Invalid staging area. There are no top level components for Windows NT, Windows 2000 available for installation in this staging area.
Anyone else have this happen while trying to install? I see that a few people have been successful in getting it installed. The destination was provided by default as C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory.
Any help would be appreciated - thanks in advance.

The Oracle Developer Suite (ODS) 10g is now certified by Oracle for installation on Windows 7 (32-bit). For installation steps, I recommend you take a look at My Oracle Support article: *How to Install Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2) on Windows 7 (32-bit) [ID 1292919.1]*. There is no need to run the XP-Mode (Virtual PC) of Windows 7 in order to install and use ODS on Windows 7.
Invalid staging area. There are no top level components for Windows NT, Windows 2000 available for installation in this staging area. This error could be caused by many things. I've seen two. The first (as I recall) was caused by an issue with one of the files in the Inventory directory. We were able to get around the issue by deleting a file (I'm sorry, but I don't recall which file or if we simply deleted the directory). I recommend you check with Oracle Support before you delete any files or the directory, however.
The other issue I've seen cause this is "spaces" in the directory path to the installer. This was the most common cause that I've seen. Make sure there are no spaces in the directory path where the installer is located.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

  • How to make Oracle Developer Suite use different Oracle client version

    Hello,
    I have installed Oracle Developer Suite 10g (9.0.4) on Win7 32bit
When I run Oracle Forms or Oracle Reports or any DB tool (like SQL Navigator or PL/SQL Developer) and trying to connect to remote Oracle DB 10g (10.2.0.5.0) I get an error ORA-02248: invalid option for ALTER SESSION.
Then I've installed Oracle Instant Client 10.1.0.4.0 and made DB tools use this client and error was gone, but I still get that error using Forms and Reports.
So my qustion is, can I make Oracle Forms and Reports use any other Oracle Client but that was installed with Oracle Developer Suite? Or any other suggestions are welcome how to fix connection issue in Forms and Reports?
I have read many threads and some suggested to set NLS_LANG. Done that, but it didn't help :(

The better question is why are you trying to use an obsolete Oracle product on such a new OS and expecting it to work properly? Are you also using MS Office 95 on this machine? Attempting to hack a solution is fine if you are just learning to use a product or just playing around. However, I would never recommend attempting to do what you are doing.
Oracle Forms 9.x was desupported years ago, long before Windows 7 was released. Trying to use it in this manner is risky at best and not something that should be done in a professional environment. If you are a student or just home user trying to learn on your own, I would recommend that you use a virtualization product like Oracle Virtual Box and create a vm of an older OS. For example XP, then install on that platform. If you are a licensed user of Win 7 Pro or higher, I believe Microsoft is still giving away (for free) "XP Mode". Details here:

Increase your Windows paging file by going to Control Panel->System->Advanced(tab)->Performance Settings(button)->Advanced(tab)->Virtual Memory. Change the Initial size to be at least 1535MB.

  • Problems installing Oracle Developer Suite 10g in windows 7

    Hi Experts;
I have installed Oracle Developer Suite 10g in windows XP, but now I change to windows 7, 64 bits, I was trying to install this product and I'm having a lot of problems, apparently this product is not compatible with windows 7.
My question is, is there any product, like Oracle Developer Suite 10g for windows 7? I was looking for in the Oracle page, and  I couldn't see anything, may be the name is diferent.
    Thanks for your help.
    Al

First off, Oracle Developer Suite (ODS) 10g is no longer supported so Oracle has discontinued improving the product.  While ODS is not certified by Oracle for use on Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit), you can install and use on Windows 7 (32/64 bit).  This is a commonly asked question so a search of the forum would have given you several solutions.
The limitations of the Oracle installer are:
    1.  You must have Administrator rights to install.
    2.  Windows 7 is not a supported version (it's version 6 and it is looking for version 5), so the installer exits.
    3.  It's unable to recognize Windows Managed virtual memory.
To get around these limitations you must do the following:
    1.  Modify your Virtual Memory settings and define a specific Min and Max amount.   Look at this MS article if you need help making this change: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory
    2.  You must run the Oracle installer in compatibility mode for Windows XP.  To do this,
      - Right-click on the setup.exe and select the Compatibility tab and click "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP SP2"
    3.  While still in the properties and the compatibility tab, select the option, "Run as Administrator" and click OK.
Now run the Oracle setup.exe and your installation should succeed.
