How to install Oracle Forms Developer/Services 6i Release to Ubuntu

Oracle Forms Developer/Services 6i Release 2 for Linux
I've downloaded this software for ubuntu but I couldn't install.
Does anyone know how to install this package?

To my knowledge Forms Developer/Services 6i Release 2 are not certified for Ubuntu.

There should be a text based installer in the /orainst sub-
directory
In that directory, just run the script:
./orainst
The installer seems to require libXm.a, which wasn't included in
my RH 7.1 installation, so I had to install the motif-
development libraries before the full install would complete
successfully.

Hi,
First use gunzip utility to unzip .gz file. Once you are done, you will get a .tar file. Use tar -xvf to untar the file to a directory. It is similar to unzip.

Using Oracle Forms Developer/Services 6i Release 2 with Oracle 9i

I am trying to load Oracle Forms Developer/Services 6i Release 2 for Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP with already installed Oracle 9i , I am able to use all the applications installed with 9i database but I am not able to use Forms with it, Please let me know if any of you have any thoughts or Idea around this, Also please let me know what version of Forms & Reports will go with Oracel 9i Database.

I've downloaded the tar.gz file and extracted it. Im a linux newbie and dont know much about linux. I've installed several files already but in this particular case, I dont know how to install a program with a tar.gz format. Im using ubuntu by the way and I have oracle forms running on WINE. I want to install the linux version so it will run natively.

for development, you need to install Oracle Developer
Suite 10g. This includes Forms and Reports.this topic interests me too, because I've downloaded Developer Suite and Database (both for 10g) from Oracle website, installed them, but I couldn't connect to a database.
What should be done for me to create a database link and be able to connect locally, in my personal Desktop computer? (Not to a server)
Once it was told me here that I should download 10g Database - I did it, and installed it, but it didn't work. Later, some of my job partners said I should install them in a sequence - that is, 1st the Developer, and 2nd the Database. But it has failed too. And I don't know how to configure a database connection.

Installing Oracle Forms Developer 9i

1) I downloaded the trial version (free 30 days) of Oracle Forms Developer 9i and burned the application onto 2 separate disks at my college computer lab. The files were downloaded from the Oracle website as ZIP files.
2) Next, I made a directory (folder) on my desktop entitled:
C:\Documents and Settings\Julie
Harris\Desktop\OracleFormsDev into which I copied the 2 zip files.
3) Finally, I clicked on the first zipped Oracle file and had it extract into a directory that I specified called c:programFiles\OracleFormsDeveloper\
4) The problem is that now I have several (almost 100) files that were extracted from the 2 zip files and don't know which one to click on to install the program in the program files directory on my PC.
During the unzipping process with Winzip, I got a Winzip error that says: " I/O error. Unable to read from zip file." during the time that Winzip was attempting to extract the oembase.jar portion of the Oracle Program.
The Disk 1 files are extracted and I am currently extracting the disk 2 files; however, I don't know what file to click on to install the program once everything is unzipped. I don't see a setup.exe file; however I did notice autorun.exe on the 1st of the 2 CDs. Should I click on autorun.exe to install Oracle Forms Developer?
If I need to learn some other necessary steps to properly install this program, please let me know. I need to use the program do complete my class project.

if you are saying that one of the zip file was corrupted, chances are that you don't have all the files copied. The Developer Suite can be downloaded from OTN.

How to install Oracle Form and Report 6i on existing database

Hi all please help me,
My system is rhel 3 (update 6). My question is how can i install Oracle form and report 6i on my machine, which is already have database 10g R2? I known i have to create two separate ORACLE_HOME. Since i already had database 10g R2, can i just go head install Oracle form and report 6i on separate ORACLE_HOME? or i need to remove database 10g R2 first, and then install Oracle form and report 6i

Presumably he has to support a client/server application. They haven't all disappeared overnight, despite what Oracle tell everyone.

How long is Oracle Forms/Developer Suite to be supported?

I'm just curious how long Oracle are committed to supporting or creating new versions of Oracle Forms Developer / Developer Suite. I've heard, from one or two sources, that the intention is to abandon forms, and move the focus completely to Jdeveloper some time soon...
Is this true? does anyone know anything different?

I'm a senior forms developer (and to make a little humour i've just recently learned designer...)
I think the confusion comes also from "J2EE Application Development for Forms and Designer Developers" which can make us thinking oracle is pushing up to J2EE and prepare us for the Dead of Forms RIP ...
And also that forms developer like me are a little bit afraid because they probably have no skills in J2EE.
But for me it is clear now.
There is no reason to migrate Forms to J2EE with whatelse tool can be sell to you.
I tried some demos in the past with such tools and it makes me laugh, converting a simple master detail forms dept/emp.
What can such tools make with very complex forms and logic ?
But the question is if I had to create a new application will i still do it with Forms ?
And the answer (for me) is no, especially when I see what the next Jdeveloper 11g will be able to do (I tried the fusion order demo and i was really impressed)

And so did I but I bought the book "Oracle JDeveloper 10g for Forms and PL/SQL Developers" and I study it page after page to enter the ADF world and upgrade my knowledge.

but we, forms developers, we must not only focus on forms and its death, but also go ahead and invest so much time we did to learn forms in learning J2EE, BPEL and etc etc.

How to Install Oracle Forms 10g (9.0.4) Demos

Forms [32 bits] Versión 10.1.2.0.2 (Producción)
Oracle Toolkit Versión 10.1.2.0.2 (Producción)
PL/SQL Versión 10.1.0.4.2 (Producción)
I'm trying to install Oracle Forms 10g (9.0.4) Demos. Everything works fine until step 5. I can even access the forms demos home page(changing forms90 to forms). However when i try to access any link, i get the following error:
404 Not Found Resource /forms90/f90servlet not found on this server
What's wrong?. I believe forms is pointing to the wrong direction:
http://mluis:8888/forms90/f90servlet?config=reusable_picklist
For example to show the tick image on step five on install guide, I have to replace
http://mluis:8888//forms90/formsdemo/images/tick.gif
for http://mluis:8888//forms/formsdemo/images/tick.gif
This is because I don't have a forms90 directory in my Oracle_Home. I changed forms90 for forms in formsdemo.env. But still doesn't work. So my question is
- Are these forms demos built for my forms version?.
- If not, what do i have to change in order to make things work. I'm really interested in some special features like PJC, Webutil etc.
- The configuration is still pointing at a forms90 directory. I need to change it to just forms but don't know which files.

Have you resolved this issue? I have gotten a bit further.
You also need to change any f90xxxxxx to frmxxxxxx
But the servlet cannot seem to find any of the demo forms.
I assume a path issue, but cannot seem to find it.
Any clues?

Thanks for help. I got it.
The problem I met is I should not export/import Oralce folder in registry.
If do that, Oracle only configure one home to either oracle817 or form6i.

file present with the distribution which can be executed for installation.

time limit. But you are under the OTN license which says that
you have to purchase the product if you are developing
