How to install Oracle Instantclient on Windows Server 2008 Web Edition
I am trying to install the Oracle Instantclient on our Windows Web server (x64).
* I downloaded instantclient-basic-win-x86-64-11.1.0.7.0
* Extracted to c:\instantclient
* appended the directory to the path
* created system variable 'SQL_PATH' with same path
* gave everyone all rights to the instantclient folder
* gave network service explicitly all rights to the instantclient folder
* rebooted IIS
* rebooted the server
But still my application keeps returning with System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.
What am i missing/doing wrong? It seems i have mixed and merged all possible solutions which Google would return.
Since System.Data.OracleClient is a Microsoft library, you'd better ask them.
Or use Oracle's provider:

please if any one can give me any solution to run my database console. i don't know any method. i'm new to the oracle.
Thank youI have checked that. but i also say that oracle 10g (10.2.0.4 ) support for windows server 2008 r2 X64.
Windows Server 2008 x64
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4 or later) for Windows x64 is certified on Windows Server 2008 x64 (all editions). 32-bit Oracle Database Client (10.2.0.4) and higher versions are supported on Windows Server 2008 x64.
I don'y think it's problem of os version or oracle version. Because when we purchase we asked from them what is the recommended version for our os. they told that 10g 10.2.0.4 is ok. previously i have installed this successfully. But now i can't.
however thanks for tried to help me. if u can find out any other reason\s please late me know..
thank you very much. -
I am trying to install Oracle 9i on Windows Server 2008
Hi
I am trying to install Oracle 9i on Windows Server 2008.
While installing third CD it shows the following error message
"jrew.exe has stopped working"
Please guide me what to do next as early as possible.
ThanksWhy?
The general policy of Oracle is very simple:
it certifies against the current version of the OS.
It never re-certifies against new releases of the OS.
Windows 2008 didn't exist when Oracle 9i was released.

Installing Oracle 10g on Windows Server 2008
Hi,
I want to install Oracle 10g on Windows Server 2008. As per Oracle, I should install 10.2.0.3 and then apply patchset 10.2.0.4.
For that, one has to sign in to metalink which is possible only for customers. I am
using Oracle only for educational purposes for now. Is there any other way of using Oracle 10g on Windows 2008?
Thanks,
VladiOf course if you don't have support and for educational purpose only , you should compromise a little by either install other OS or get virtual machine like VMware.
Or stay with 10.2.0.3, that should work in most cases. -

How to install device cals on Windows Server 2012 standard edition
Hello i have a windows server 2012 standard edition licence that i have taken on rent from an ISP.
i have created a domain controller on that.
By default only two users can use remote desktop to the server simultaneously.
My Requirement is 20 users can use remote desktop to the server at the same time. For that i have purchased 20 Delive CALs licences like volume licencing.
i have the licence number noted on the paper.
do i need to install remote desktop services first etc ?
Could anyone guide me step by step how can i install or configure so that 20 users can use remote desktop on the same time.Hi,
Any update about the issue?
I would agree with others, you need to install Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses.
There are three methods by which you can install Remote Desktop Services client access licenses (RDS CALs) onto your license server:
• Install Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses Automatically
• Install Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses by Using a Web Browser
• Install Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses by Using the Telephone
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725890.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
Then you can install both Per User and Per Device CALs onto the same license server.
Regards.

More relevant info can be found at http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/portal.portal_db?selected=3 ... scroll down to 'Platform Guide' and select the appropriate guide - Windows 32 bit, Windows Itanium, or Windows 64 bit - that is relevant to your environment. Installing oracle 8i on windows server 2008
hi all,
is it possible to install oracle 8i database standard edition on windows 2008 server?
i'm starting the instalation and almost in the end of it when it suppose to ask me to configure net8 it freez.
i have tns error ora- 12560 TNS-protocol adapter error
i'll be glad if anybody has answers,I wouldn't have a clue whether it is possible. Want to ask a different question? Whether if you ever succeeded it would be supported or stable? The answer is No.
Oracle 8i is so old it hasn't been supported during the current decade, the current century, the current millennium.
If you are going to install anything do not go further back than 10.2.0.4 or you are just wasting your time. -

Jr Oracle DBAPratik,
I am just copy the reply by Sybrand Sir :
Oracle 9iR2 was desupported on July 31,2007
Windows 2008 was released in 2008.
Oracle never (re-) certifies for new versions of any O/S
Please upgrade to Oracle 10gR2 (preferred) or downgrade your server to XP or 2003.
Sorry, but you have no other choice.

Oracle R12 on Windows Server 2008
Hi - does anyone have a good guide or link to a site that does a walk through of installing Oracle R12 on Windows Server 2008?
Thanks!Hi,
Thanks for the guide, anyone with experience in Windows, do you know if the Server goes to sleep, that once it is woken up, that the R12 instance would work fine? I think the application will not be accessible when the server does to sleep.
I would ideally like to let the Server go to "Sleep" when not in use. Once a user wants to test something, they can wake it up using WOL, then login to the instance. What is the point of letting the server goes to sleep? I would say that you may need to bounce some services then which is not a feasible solution -- You may verify this and try it yourself.

Needed steps for installing oracle 10R2 on windows server 2003
Hi to All,
Can anybody give me steps for how to install oracle 10R2 on windows 2003 server in production environment and what is the preinstallation task and postinstallation task.
Thanks and Regards
Mohd KhajaThere is one pre-requisite that is missing from the documentation - ensuring that the administration team is adequately trained.
Since you are asking this question, I wonder whether your team is properly prepared for, and aware of, the possible nuances or changes from default that might be relevant to your environment.
For example, is your team familiar with the concept of Flashback Recovery Area and how it may fit, or conflict with, your production needs? Use of RMAN? Location of Oracle software Inventory and implications in your OS-level backup? How to configure both the software and the database to meet your Service Level Agreement requirements.
The referenced document is an excellent first step, as it asks some of the questions. If you are serious about production stability, you want to go through that as well as get appropriate level of expertise in your shop. -

About memory issue during installing Oracle 11g on Windows Server 2003
Hi, all
When I installed Oracle 11g on Windows Server 2003 which the server is a virtual server, Oracle only can detect 2G memory.
But there are 4G memory with my server.
I want to know if the Oracle 11g's new feature or the virtual server lead the issue.
Also , I want to get your help to resolve the issue, thanks a lot.Let me get this straight:
You have created some virtual machine using someone's unknown VM software.
You have installed Windows Server 2003 (perhaps, but not confirmed 32-bit) to that VM.
You have allocated 4GB of memory to the VM (we guess ... not sure I'm ready to take your word on this)
You are attempting to install Oracle 11g (presumably 11gR1 32 bit for Windows) in the VM
And the Oracle (installer?) seems to be reporting that you only have 2GB RAM.
Since I personally have installed Oracle 11g 32bit for Windows on Windows 2003 server with 4GB RAM and had no issues, I would be investigating the (unknown) VM environment. -
