How to install osx 10.6 on Apple iMac "Core Duo" 1.83 with 1 gb ram

Apple iMac "Core Duo" 1.83 with 1GM Ram and Preinstalled Tiger 10.4.11,
How can i Install leopard 10.6 on this imac, please give me the link also to osx 10.6

You can purchase 10.6 from the Apple on-line store for $30.  Also, OWC, www.macsales.com sells it for $26.
You would be better off with more memory, 2-4 GB would be important.

HELP how to install OSX on powerbook G3 prismo running OS 9.2  help.

First you need to install firmware update 4.1.8. Download at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1395
I used to have a 400MHz G3 Pismo model running Tiger 10.4.11. It ran quite well, however videos will be very slow.
On your Pismo, what is the processor speed, how much RAM and what size hard drive? I maxed out the RAM on mine & installed a 40GB hard drive.
Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Tiger is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available for $129 by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753). For other sources, do a Google search for MA453Z/A (10.4.6), MA190Z/A (10.4.3) and M9639Z/A (10.4) . Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version (black with silver X) and not a model specific version (gray) See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1976068 Can I use another Mac's system restore disc on my Mac?

After you install the base 10.4.x, update to the final Tiger version 10.4.11. Here's the link for the 10.4.11 combo update http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US

When you upgrade the OS, do it via Archive & Install. See About the Archive and Install feature http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710 Be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings. Also, repair permissions before and after the install.

  • Installed OSX 10.6.8 on iMac and now I have two icons in my dock for time machine and can't access either one.  I don't think it is backing up to time capsule either.  Anyone else have this issue?

I installed OSX 10.6.8 on iMac and now I have two icons for time machine in my dock.  When I try to access either one the wheel goes round and round.  I seem to have lost all back ups that were on Time Capsule.  Not sure how to check or what to do.  Thanks.

See what happens if you select the TM icon in your menubar, and select Enter Time Machine there.
If that doesn't help, try the things in #E4 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting

  • I have installed Lion on an iMac Core duo by mistake - how do I rectify..?

I have installed Lion on an iMac Core Duo, via firewire from an iMac i7.
The Core Duo now goes to grey screen, folder with "?", then the "prohibited" sign for a 30 secs and then turns off,
(I now realise Lion is 64bit and the core duo only supports 32bit...).
The core duo will chime but will not boot off the original install disk or mount as a fire wire target disk.
How do I wipe Lion and reinstall Leopard...?

    Sounds like hardware error.
Maybe the target-mode did something bad to the EFI, like fed it 210 proof "Everclear" ...
Try a diferent USB keyboard ...
Last resort for me before Genius Bar is either SMC Reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964) and/or PRAM reset (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mh26871.html).
I am out of ideas if the resets cannot bring back "C" boot.

  • Apple iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.66 20-Inch (Early 2009) display problems

I have a Apple iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.66 20-Inch (Early 2009) whose screen has gone partially black to be more specific the bottom half of the screen, the screen is split almost in half the top half working fine and the bottom half completely black. The screen does not appear to be crack. Screen went half black while on itunes one day and has been that way ever since, any idea what it could be? (if you go to my profile a picture of the screen is provided)

Thanks for the response, I just installed Snow leopard (10.6.8) but the issue is when I go to the apple store and tried to download Yosemite, I don't see the option to download it. Looked around everywhere and no luck. What I'm doing wrong? I tried also the software update and I just get to the page where says no updates available and shows Yosemite as a free upgrade but when I click on the button nothing happens.
Any help would be really appreciated.

  • HT4759 Can I install 10.7.4 on an Intel Core Duo Mac?

Can I install 10.7.4 on my Intel Core Duo Mac?
I currently run Snow Leopard, but as of a month ago my calendar no longer can connect with the server. From the discussion threads it seems that it has to do with iCloud. I'm going crazy not having my iPhone synch with my desktop.
Can anyone help? All I want is for my calendar to synch with my phone.
    Thanks!!

Lion needs Core2Duo ... CoreDuo is not enough.

  • How to install OSX 10.7 on a reformatted HD Macbook Pro 13?

Is there any way of installing OSX 10.7 or 10.8 on a reformatted hard drive of a macbook pro 13 inch late 2009 that originally came with Leopard (OSX 10.5). I have just bought a macbook pro i5 and once all the data was transferred to the newer macbook I reformatted the hard drive of the old MBP in the xpectation that I could simply reinstall Lion. The recovery disc starts up ok, but curiously the installer points to mountain lion only and I keep getting a dialogue box informing me that my apple Id has not previously bought Lion (not Mountainlion, Lion). For starters that is untrue, I bought Lion on the app store to upgrade from Snowleopard to Lion on the original macbook and that shows up in the previous purchases screen in the App store application. Annoyingly this whole process does not allow me to re-purchase Lion on the old macbook pro and I am also now unable to restore the system from Timemachine as this now appears to be associated with the newer machine. And yes, you guessed it, I no longer have the original installation CDs, not realizing that I would still need these after upgrading the operating system (twice).
Attempts to start up from the only disc that I do have (snowleopard) results in hopeful crunching of the optical drive followed by a grey screen descending across the monitor followed by the message that I must restart the computer and then this process starts again, so getting nowhere and frustration mounting.
I am now left with a machine that is clinically dead with otherwise perfectly functioning hardware
I would be most grateful for any advice.
    Thanks

Purchase the white Snow Leopard 10.6.3 disks Apple sells on their online store.
Follow these directions, you need to zero erase the ENTIRE drive of the older Mac. (important!)
How to erase and install Snow Leopard 10.6
If you don't, the 10.8 RecoveryHD partition will remain and the 10.6 install disk can't repair the 10.8 drive later if there is a issue. There likely also will be a problem installing Lion, as the Recovery HD will be 10.8.
If you install Lion, it will create it's own Recovery HD for it.
Once your up, Software Update until 10.6.8, then you can log into AppStore and install Lion if you have already purchased it, or call Apple and special order it, because AppStore goes to 10.8 from 10.6.8 supposedly now.
You then can reinstall iLife from the 10.5 disks by running the installer or using Paficist from Charlessoft.
Just to let you know, you cannot sell the machine with 10.7 or 10.8 on it because the next owner needs your AppleID to reinstall or update the OS. 10.7 or 10.8.
So if your selling it, just install 10.6.3 and press the power button down, it will reboot to the Welcome Video for the next owner.

  • OK HERE IS WHERE I AM AT HARD DRIVE WENT DOWN UPGRADED TO A 250 GIG AND NOW NEED TO KNOW HOW TO INSTALL OSX ON THE POWERBOOK G4 17

I have a powerbook g4 17 and it recently went down the hard drive sounded like it was eating itself so i replaced the hard drive with a 250 gig and now i need help on how to get osx onto the powerbook it will not boot from disk i will start all the back at 0s9 if need be can anyone please help me i miss my g4

Do you have any OSX disks?
It won't boot from the new hard drive yet because there is no OS installed.
You need to use an OSX disk, put in your mac, then when turn on, hold down the C key (to boot from the CD).
Hold it down for a long time until you hear it noisily reading from the CD drive.  Once OSX starts up (from CD) you should go to Disk utility and you will need to format your new hard drive.
Once formatted, you can then install OSX.
Everything is done from the OSX install disk.
If you don't have one, you can buy a retail copy from Apple (not Snow Leopard), or from Ebay.  Make sure it is a retail copy, not disks that came with a Mac as they only work with the exact model of Mac it came with.

  • How to install OSX on 2nd HD and get rid of 1st HD?

(thanks to this forum) I managed to install a second HD on my MacPro (I have to specify that I'm degree below z-e-r-o in hardware...).
now, my second HD appears on the desktop (it's set for 1 partition in D.U.)
    AND THE BIG QUESTION IS:
HOW CAN I INSTALL OSX ON THIS NEW DISK AND GET RID (once it's done) OF THE OLD CRAPPY SEAGATE HD?
I know that it can be 'cloned' (I've read about for that here on the forum) but, is this the best thing to do? or shall I restart from the original APPLE CD? but how to do that...?
    thanks!

Why is your Seagate "crappy?" Is it not behaving well in some manner? Because if you were to clone, the exact software issues that it has would appear on the clone. If you simply erase and install on the second empty hard drive, none of the other hard drive's software issues would be present. However, I would make sure your data is backed up before installing anything, and attempt to isolate whatever issues you are having first. If there is nothing on the second hard drive, you can go ahead and install and find out if you have the same issues on that drive. Erase and install is one of the installation options from the installation disks included with your Mac Pro. Be careful not to erase and install your original hard drive unless you are totally backed up as my FAQ explains:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
P.S. in case you didn't realize it, on the internet using ALL UPPERCASE means you are attempting to shout and be rude. Please avoid it so people don't misunderstand you.

  • How to install IPSec Client Certificate for Apple products (iPad,iPhoe and Mac)

We need  Ipsec vpn client authentication with certificate (instead of pre-shared key). We tested the same with Windows client and its works fine. However when we used the same certificates with Apple products (iPad, iPhoe and Mac) it doesnt work.
We have two types of certificates installed on the client from the CA server.
One is the root certificate with the extenstion .cer
and the other one is client certificate with the extension of .pfx (personal informaiton exchange)
We can not find a proper document to install certificates and client configuration for iPad,iPhoe and Mac. We need to know what type of certificates needed, what are the certificate formats and how to install etc.

  • How to install OSX on iPad

I'm thinking that a 1GHz cpu should handle OSX just fine. I hate this watered down iPod OS. I just want basic Finder operations and file system access.
    Anyone?

It is a small computer and so is my iphone. They both run a smaller OS called iOS that was designed for the scaled down hardware. Running a remote desktop application does not have the same requirements as actually running the OS you are viewing. Apple never stated nor gave the impression that it would ever run full OS X nor IMO was it ever designed to. I understand your want to run an OS with more 'features' on it, however, apple has provided that as a laptop system.
Backups? It does backup when sync'd with your iTunes - as it was designed to do.
Not to disregard your wish, but perhaps you might want to do more research prior to purchasing products to avoid disappointment. Again IMO, the ipad does everything Apple stated it would do and works as advertised. As suggested, if you are unhappy with how it functions, you are free to return the product within 14 days with no issues from Apple.
The target audience from the presentations from Apple was to provide a unique device that fits somewhere between a full computer and a netbook/smart phone device. It was presented as a consumption, entertainment and light productivity device, but I don't think it was ever sold as a 'cheap PC'. As you have stated it is a more affordable device that allows you to get online, which it does.

  • Erased hard drive now when installing osx is asking for apple id to reinstall osx but I purchased from someone else

I was trying to install Mavericks on the computer without backing up like an idiot. It said the hard drive was damaged and could not be repaired. Long story short I cleared the hard drive and now I don't have an operating system. I can reinstall lion from recovery mode, but I didn't buy it with my apple ID. Also I'm in Bavaria so there are no apple stores nearby. How can I get lion on my apple account. Also the last OS I had was 10.8.5 (Mt Lion)

    It's a 2008 aluminum by the way
