How to install reader & patches via GPO?

I need to know the proper way to install Adobe Reader via GPO, as well as what to do about patches when they come out?
I have seen too many different ways online, I'd like an official way.

Hi Experts,
I'm just new to the NWDS Editor.
My NWDS version is 7.0.15.
I wanted to upgrate to SP 17.
So I downloaded JIDE17_0-10003480.SAR.
Can you please help me how to install this patch?
Should I extract it? And where should I put the file(s)?

Hi,
the NWDS updating mechanism functions as follows:
on 640/700 you just download the corresponding SAR file, and after extracting it using the SAPCAR tool (example: SAPCAR -xvf JIDE17_0-10003480.SAR) you'll find the corresponding installer exe inside the J2EE-RUN-CD folder.
If you execute it, it'll replace your current installation with the new one. It is not necessary to remove the old installation, and there's no other way to have it updated. There's no specific patching mechanism, you install the entire NWDS as it is.
as of 710 you use the update site mechanism. This means, you can download a zip file which includes an installer after extraction. This is only the eclipse framework. If you finished with the instllation, either it automatically suggests to connect to the update site (in order to enhance your NWDS framework with SAP specific plugins) or if this does not happen (and this behaviour depends on the release you have) you can trigger this update using the NWDS menu (Help -- Find and Install... -- Software Updates). Only after this you will have a fully installed NWDS.

I had installed XI 3.0 and did not install any further path for XI.
Could any one please let me know where i can find information on "How to install XI patch". This much i know that this is available on SAP site but have not been able to find or recall my memory where exctly these documentation reside.

How to install Adobe Pro through GPO?

I currently install several pieces of software for our users through Group Policy, and would like to do the same with Adobe Pro for specific computers. I created a AD group that has the machines I want Adobe installed. I have the install files, and our license key, and ran msiexec /a AcroPro.msi and picked a folder to store the install too.
But when I boot up one of these machines, it "seems" like it goes through the process, but when I log in, I don't see any evidence that Acrobat Pro has been installed.
I've noticed that if I run the MSI manually it asks me which program should be default, Reader or Pro...... is this causing a problem when installing through the GPO?
What's the best way to proceed with this????? I went through the procedures listed http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/gpo_ad_9.pdf but am still having problems.....

The cause of problem is something else.
If you have reader installed on your machine and then if you deploy Acrobat via GPO then Acrobat would get installed and also become the default application for viewing PDF files.
How are you specifying the serial number while deploying via GPO?

Difficulties installing flash player via GPO

Hello, I'm attempting to try and deploy flash player via GPO to computers on our domain, and in testing, I am unable to get the MSI's to install after doing a gpupdate and letting the PC restart as it requests.
I've followed the instructions Adobe has listed for deploying to AD via GPO to the letter, I have the shares on a publicly accessible location, the software assigned in the GPO, and the GPO linked to my testing container with the testing PCs. All the PCs are fully patched, just nothing happens after a reboot. I can publish the MSI's just fine to where I can see them available to install via GPO, but I want to assign them instead. Does anyone have some insights into what could be going wrong?

I'm still not having any luck with this, does anyone have any advice at all?

How to install a patch from local JAR file...

Newbie question -
I'm getting an error when deploying an MDB on WL 10.0 - someone else had also come across that same error and he sent me a patch (CR326377_10GA.jar) that should fix it.
How do I install that patch on my local WinXP installation of WL - do I just add an entry to the CLASSPATH of the startweblogic.bat file? I'm a little concenred about the order of JARs there... is there a better way?!
I tried looking up this patch using the Smart Update utility - but I could not find it there - how do I do it manually?

I believe you can contact support and get a patch id and passcode for this
patch and then install using smart update.
StartWeblogic.cmd will also look for a weblogic_patch.jar in the patch
directory. I.e. something like
d:\BEA10\patch_wls100\profiles\default\sys_manifest_classpath\weblogic_patch.jar
Cut/paste the directory from the output of startweblogic.cmd and then create
the directory and copy the patch to the right filename.
Or you can put the patch before any other jars in the classpath.

How to install Reader 4.0 on VIsta 64-bit machine

I have an old program that looks for Acrobat Reader 4.0 under the Adobe programs directory in programs folder.
Anyone have any suggestions to install REader 4.0 so my program finds it?

Well Mike, I appreciate your commennts, however, if I could haul around my old desktop with me and my vista 64 laptop, then problem would be solved.
However, I can't haul the desktop.
And like Linda, I've had a problem installing on XP.
Except, though, I was able to install 4.0 on a Dell laptop with XP pro.
I believe I installed it on the Dell before I installed Acrobat Pro 7.0.
I also believe that since I installed it on the Dell before 7.0, it would explain why I now can't load 4.0 reader on 2 new XP boxes that have Acrobat Pro 7.0 already installed.
Question for Linda: Did you unistall all versions of Acrobat as well as Reader trying to install 4.0?

FYI Mike, the old program I'm trying to use is a year 2000 tax prep software from an old company named Tax and Accounting Software. Even after all these years it's been the only program I've found for printing labels that lets me start anywhere on a label page and any quantity or font. Intuit bought out the company in 2001 and continues to sell a bookkeeping package that uses a similar labeling process that does work in XP and Vista 64. If I could figure out how to export the 400+ label file I have in that old tax package in a format the bookeeping package could read, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I'll be calling Intuit next week to see if they have any suggestions other than re-typing all that label information.

After searching on Oracle Support, i come to know that patch p9499508 is required for this bug. I have downloaded the patch from oracle.
Now i don't know how to install/use this patch . I'm using windows and installed everything on my local machine.
Does anyone have idea on it??

But don't understand how to follow below mentioned by you:-
Set the oracle_home where the patch will be installed.
Use the "lsinventory" argument of opatch

How to install a patch on remaining ISE servers

Hello,
I have a cluster of ISE servers in version 1.1.4. I patched it with Patch 4.
Then, I added more ISE servers in version 1.1.4. How to I patch these new servers to Patch 4 ? In the status page, it displays correctly that some servers have the patch installed while the new ones do not have it installed. But I don't find the way do install the patch on the remaining server ?
Can anyone tell me how to proceed ?

If you need to install the patch on one or more secondary nodes, ensure that the nodes are up and repeat the process from Step 1 to install the patch on the remaining nodes.

How to install Reader X onto D:/

Previously Adobe Reader version 9 was installed on drive D:/Program Files/Adobe/...
During upgrade to Reader X, Adobe DLM did not offer option to select location. Installation went to C:/Program Files/Adobe/... and all of version 9 was removed from D:/ in the process.
How can Adobe Reader X be installed on D:/ rather than on C:/?
Is it possible to download an installation file for Reader X onto D:/, and install onto D:/ with help of appropriate switches for the .exe file?
I would also like to install all other Adobe programs onto D:/ as well, and have uninstalled all of them at this time to avoid potential conflict.

Try Downloading Reader build from here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
then double ckick the installer (it will install in UI mode) and click on "change destination folder" button to browse in my computer. From this button you can change the path of installation. Let me know if you face any problem in doing this.

We have SAPGUI 7.10 installed in our environment. We would like to update the sapgui patch from 10 to 12. However we would like this to be installed to all the PCs silently while sap application is open.
We want this to happen becasue most of the users will be accessing sap and we want the patch to be push silently without user interations. Please let us know your inputs on this.

It appears that it is saying there are issues when the SAP GUI is running. I believe they are saying that the package should kill the SAP GUI prior to installing the patch. Am I reading it correctly?
If that is the case we could get in trouble if we just kill someone SAP connection. Please advise...

From your description above, it showed error if you directly ran LyncSetup.exe after it moved to C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Lync_Client\X64 (windows 7 64bit) with the help of script. You can try to find the
initial Lync 2010 software package, and click LyncSetup.exe to install it directly to check if the issue happen.
If the issue happen again, check if you have installed any anti-virus application such as Kaspersky or something else prevent you writing data. Or it is the issue of Lync software package itself.
If the issue not happen, there may be something wrong when install Lync client by GPO. As Frank Shen said, you can try to deploy Lync client using Group Policy with the link he provided.

How to install reader 9.3 on another hd than c:

The download manager installs Adobe Reader 9.3 on my XP SP3 laptop perfectly.
Now I do not want it installed on the default hd C: I want to specify a different location such as E:
Nowhere in the process did I notice an option for this and manual downloads seem to be unavailable
Am I missing something?

Use the installer provided here to install reader:

There will be an option available here from where you can change your application installation directory.
