Use the Boot Camp Assistant in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder to put the Boot Camp drivers onto an optical disk or USB thumbdrive.

  • How to install windows 7 on Old Macbook Pro 15'inch 2.3 Core 2 Duo

How to install windows 7 on Old Macbook Pro 15'inch 2.3 Core 2 Duo:
I want to known how to install windows 7 on Old Macbook 15'inch 2.3 Core 2 Duo by using usb
I try many time, but after restart bootcamp partition, apple show blinking folder error
I think this firmware not support to install windows by usb
    NOTE:
I Cannot install Apple New OSX Mountain Lion, Mavericks etc in this MAC
If I cannot install windows 7 on this MAC, so tell me what I will do with this MAC  ?

I agree with the optical drive, mine acted strange, and i thought people were crazy and my drive was shot, but a simple cleaning disc worked miracles.
But- are you trying to reboot with both the USB install and the DVD install both plugged in?  that would definitely cause confusion.
Do this, reboot with NOTHING plugged in.  Once you hear the Mac chime, immediately press and hold option.
You should only see the Mac HD, and Recovery Partition.
THEN plug in your external DVD, and wait a min or two, you should see a disc icon appear next to the recovery partition that says something like windows.  If that doesnt appear after a min or two, unplug it and put the USB stick and do the same thing.  I had to do it this way on my mid 09 MBP.
Let me know if this works to start the install.  If not we may have to start over with Bootcamp Assistant

  • Can I install an earlier version of Bootcamp on my new Macbook Pro so that I can dual boot to XP rather than Windows 7??

I have a new MacBook Pro and would like to dual boot ot XP. Is this possible using the Bootcamp version that comes with it? I wonder whether Apple have XP drivers for the new MacBook or if they have only developed those for Windows 7? Thanks in advance!

Just install XP into a Virtual Machine. Like VMware Fusion, Parallels or Virtual Box.
Then you can run both OS X & XP at the same time. No need to dual boot with XP as it doesn't use that many rsources and runs fine in a VM.

how to install software from imac to macbook pro

Are you using one of the newer iMac's with no DVD drive? If so, you can either get an external CD/DVD drive (any make - doesn't have to be Apple) or, if you have another Mac on the same network that has a CD/DVD drive you may be able to do it by turning on 'DVD or CD Sharing' on that Mac (System Preferences>Sharing). Hopefully you'll see the disk on the Mac without the DVD drive and be able to install from there.

  • How to install Windows 8.1 on Macbook Pro

I have a 13-inch Mid 2010 MacBook Pro operating on OS X Mavericks 10.9.2. I recently purchased Windows 8.1 as I was told by the Geek squad I could install it on my MacBook Pro. I keep getting this message every time I try to run BootCamp I get this:
So what am I suppose to do? Can I even install Windows 8.1 on this MacBook Pro???

    MeeshyMee,
the 13-inch Mid 2010 MacBook Pro (which is the model that I have also) isn’t able to run Windows 8.1 using Boot Camp, because Boot Camp 5.1 is needed for Windows 8.1, and our model MacBook Pro can only run up to Boot Camp 4. You might be able to run Windows 8.1 on your MacBook Pro inside of a virtualizer such as Parallels Desktop or VirtualBox.

  • How to install Mountain Lion on New Macbook Pro from APPS

How can I install Mountain Lion into a VM on a New Macbook Pro running YOSEMITE  from APPS
I have it in my apps purchased but It tells me the system is to New to download/run it
I have tried mounting my install ESD copy but it has the same Problem
    I don't have another Mac
    Thanks

I think the problem is that you can't install an older OS X version onto a system running a newer OS X version. So I would try the following:
         1. have an external disk or create another partition on an internal drive to use for the Mountain Lion install (you might have to shrink an existing partition to make room for another)
         2. Create an external bootable USB thumb drive with the Mountain Lion OS on it (do a search on the web for this - for example see http://www.macworld.com/article/1167857/how_to_make_a_bootable_mountain_lion_ins tall_drive.html
         3. Reboot Yosemite and then boot from the USB thumb drive by holding down the option key
         4. run the mountain lion installer and install on the new disk/partition you created in step 1 - it will also create another recovery partition from this same part of the disk
Now your Mac system will have both a Mountain Lion install as well as the Yosemite install. You won't be able to use Migration Assistant to move things from Yosemite to Mountain Lion because it will see that you're "going backwards" and won't allow you to.
Have a good backup of everything before starting in case there are problems.
    Good luck...

  • How to install an SSD in a MacBook Pro and keep the original hard drive

Step by step instructions on how to install a Crucial SSD as the primary drive in a MacBook Pro and use the original hard drive as a second drive in place of the optical drive.
Apart from the time needed to back up your data and clone the original drive to the new SSD, you should be able complete this in less than an hour.

    Verifying
Install the SSD in the HDD slot
Install the HDD in the optical slot
Boot to the HDD and format the SSD
Boot using Command R and restore the operating system from Time machine to the SSD
Reformat the HDD and restore the data files to it.

  • How to install Mountain Lion on my macbook pro MB990LL/A 2009?

    Hi,
I have a big problem here.. I saw on internet that many people have installed on they're macbook pro MB990LL/A an OS like Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion. This weekend, I've tried to install Snow Leopard, and when I've inserted the disc in my macbook, it said that the operating system was not supported by my computer.
I don't kow how to do, but I would like to install Mountain Lion or at least Snow leopard on it and I know that it's possible so if someone can help me with this, that would be great!!
Right now, i'm on leopard 10.5.8

Confirm that you booted from the Snow Leopard Install DVD and that it is the retail version that you purchased directly from Apple.
    If that does not work:
Boot your MacBook Pro normally, then download and install the Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo update. Then, shut down and attempt to install Snow Leopard again.

  • How to Install Windows 8.1 on MacBook Pro with Retina Display Using Boot Camp?

    Hello,
I own a MacBook Pro with Retina Display and was wondering how do I install Windows 8.1 without an optical disc drive? I have bought the full version of Windows 8.1 and would like to partition it on my MacBook Pro. Could someone please help me out by posting step-by-step procedure or a video on how to do it? It is my first time partitioning the Windows operating system and would like to clarify with the community on this before I install it.
Thanks in advance for those who have helped!

Windows 8.1 is not yet supported by Boot Camp. The best way currently to install Windows 8.1 is to use a virtual machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox. Installation instructions are on the Parallels, Fusion, and VirtualBox site.

  • How to install Fedora and Ubuntu on MacBook Pro?

I've asked this question on facebook groups "Linux" and "CentOS" but got no perfect answer. Again I'm asking the exact question here in hope of getting perfect answer...
I want to "Install" (CentOS 6.0/Fedora 15) or greater" on MacBook Pro (15", Mid 2010, core i7, 2.66 GHz). CentOS/Fedora is the only alternative to Red Hat Enterprise Linux I could come up  with. Virtual installation is not my option and I can't use services like "updates" with RHEL unless I pay them.. so CentOS/Fedora is the one that I need.
Need help to install CentOS on MacBooK Pro. Also is it possible to have Ubuntu along side of CentOS?? ..

If you do not want any form of virtualization, the only other option would be wrangling with BootCamp to see if you can do a native install. From what I have read, BootCamp tries very hard to allow you to install just Windows OS, but there may be some way to do it successfully.
Suggest you visit the BootCamp forum.
