How to install RPM-4.1 package on Solaris 8?

I have a Sparc Sun-Fire-V240 server with Solaris 8 software. Now I want to unpack a rpm which created on Redhat 8 with RPM-4.1. It caused a coredump. I guess it is because the Solaris 8 has only RPM -3.0.4. Should I install RPM 4-1 to Solaris 8 to unpack it? Does Solaris 8 support RPM-4.1? or any other solution? Thanks!

Apple's warrenty database will identify the type of Mac you have.  Your serial number is securely sent, but you get only the name of your machine.

  • How to install .rpm packages in Fedora Linux?

    Hi all
I am trying to download .rpm packages for my Fedora 10 Linux but don't have a clue on how to install those? First of all, when I download them, they automatically go to my Home directory (that is on my desktop). However, when I login to the Terminal and then login as root...and give this command..
    rpm -i <rpm file name>
    or
    rpm -ivh <rpm file name>
...it says, there is no such file or directory. Now, my question is..how do I get these .rpm files (that are on my computer Home) to the root so that the above command can work and actually installs these?
    Please help.
    Thank you.

It is searchable too. The downside is organisation is not super easy, but there is indeed a wealth of information there.

  • How to install CD 2 and 3 of Solaris 10?

    Hi,
I am trying to install Solaris 10 on my Dell Laptop. I burnt all the 4 cds and was able to boot from the 1st CD. After installing the 1st CD the computer rebooted automatically and it doesn't ask for the remaining CD's.
Any ideas on how to install the remaining disks when the computer restarts?
    Thanks.
    Sachin

Just insert it and if vold is running it will mount it on /cdrom/cdrom0. cd to there and run the installer script.

  • Installing rpm or deb packages

Hey all,  I'm using Arch and I have a problem.  A package that I need - libbarry0 -  seems to only be available in deb or rpm format.
How can I install this.  Everyone talks about making a package yourself, but I have no clue to find the source and make this package.
Can anyone help..?  I cant find any resources on Google, I cant believe I'm the only person who has this problem.

    samdavid6 wrote:
    Source tarball available here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile … _id=170564
That doesnt help.  The page has source files for the -barry- package, but the -libbarry- package is only in deb or rpm.
Mcmillan,  I downloaded the deb and used deb2targz which made a tar.gz file.  But I'm unsure on how to make pacman use that.  I'll take a look at the amazonmp3 package, but if you told me what I need to be doing (bit of a noob), It would save me lots of time.
**edit:  Looks like AUR is down too  :-( **
if you have already created a tar.gz from the deb, then its a simple matter of installing it using pacman
    pacman -U /path/to/filename.tar.gz
    Also do a
    man pacman
to find out more about the options that pacman provides

  • How to install rpm.bin file with rpm

Have downloaded Java...rpm.bin for Linux. rpm doesn't recognize bin file. Can't find doc to explain what utility converts rpm.bin to simple rpm. What do I use? Thanks.

It took me some time to figure it out,
once you downloaded the j2sdk...rpm.bin file, it is a self installation file,
    1) make sure the file is executable
    #chmod 755 j2sdk1.4.0_01.rpm.bin
    2) execute the file
    #./j2sdk1.4.0_01.rpm.bin
this will install the package and inflate the rpm...
    good luck.

  • How to install and use DBXML package in Ubuntu Server 8.04 64bit

    Hi all.
I used to install and use DBXML in Ubuntu Desktop 8.04 32bit. Now I want to use on Ubuntu Server 8.04 64bit.
This is code for my installation (I use DBXML 2.2.13)
    env CFLAGS="-O0" sh buildall.sh enable-java with-xerces="xerces-c-src" with-berkeleydb-prefix="/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.3" with-xerces-prefix="/usr/local" with-pathan-prefix="/usr/local" with-xquery-prefix="/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.XQuery.1.2" --with-dbxml-prefix="/usr/local/BerkeleyDBXML.2.2"
After installing, I could open Container, get Document, but when print the result (by "print" command), it failed. (stdin:3: print failed, Error: nsUnmarshalNode overlap File: Nsutil.cpp Line: 2358). Of course, all above commands run successfully with Ubuntu Desktop 8.04 32bit.
Can you tell me which differences between 2 OS version and how to fix it
    Thanks

    Hello,
Make sure that you are building a 64-bit version for the 64-bit platform. It's possible that you have mismatched some libraries. Be sure to add "-b 64" to buildall.sh. When you are done run the "file" command on all of the libraries in <path-to-install>/lib to see if they have been built 64-bit.
That error looks like a 32- vs 64-bit issue of some sort.
    Regards,
    George

  • Satellite Pro L300 PSLB1E - How to install the Value added package?

    Hi there
I have tried updating the value added package on my machine I followed the instructions and removed my previous version and even cleaning the pc with ccleaner and running tune up utilites 2009 but every time i go to install the new value added package i get the same message remove previous version first in the add and remove programmes list.
I have removed this checked and double checked in add and remove and it is no where to be found but still no success installing the new software.
Can anyone help me resolve this matter?
    Thanks

    Hay
Have you restarted your notebook after removing VAP from the system?
I have updated VAP on several notebooks and have never noticed something like this.
After removing VAP from the system new version was always installed properly.
I can imagine something is still in registry.
You can check it and try to remove manually.
Search all entries for Toshiba Value and remove it.
If this will not work all you can do is to install OS again using recovery image. After clean installation remove VAP again, restart your notebook and install latest version.

  • How to install OS X .dist packages?

I've downloaded a number of recent OSX updates that include .dist files. How can I use ARD to distribute these updates to the Macs on our network?
    Thanks

ARD, to my knowledge, cannot push out anything other than .pkg and some .mpkg files.
What updates are you getting that are coming in .dist? .dist files are distribution scripts, not the updates themselves, and I've never seen them downloaded outside of a .pkg or other installer file though I haven't been having my system keep installers downloaded through Software Update so perhaps things have changed and I haven't noticed.
Anyway, you may need to download the standalone installer distributions so that you can get .pkg files for use with ARD.

    You need a 'Full' Installer.
From Boot Camp 5.1: Frequently asked questions - Apple Support
Which versions of Windows work with Boot Camp 5.1?
Boot Camp 5.1 supports 64-bit, non-Enterprise versions of Windows 7, Windows 8.0, and Windows 8.1. This version of Boot Camp doesn't support Windows XP, Windows Vista, or any 32-bit version of Windows. Depending on your Mac, you may be able to use an earlier version of Boot Camp to work with other versions of Windows. For details, see the Boot Camp system requirements for Microsoft Windows.
Can I perform an upgrade install from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows?
It's not possible to upgrade a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows. Back up your important files, then perform a new install of the 64-bit version of Windows.

  • How to install Vertias netbackup 4.5 on solaris 9

([email protected])
    Thanks

Typically the steps post install are:
    1) login to the web based admin server
    2) create a new proxy instance (pick a port, and IP, and some details)
    3) start it up.
Obviously there are a ton more things you can do to this new instance...but this should get you going.
