How to install scripts in InDesign
Installing Script In design
Hello,
Thank you for your post.
I am afraid that the issue is out of support range of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses
the usage of Visual Studio IDE such as WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System
and Visual Studio Editor.
It seems that InDesign is Adobe product, so I suggest consulting your issue on Adobe InDesign help:
https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign.html for better support.
Thanks,

Installing Scripts in InDesign CC
I'm new to scripting.. want to try using them.. how do I install them in InDesign CC? same as previous versions? put inside applications folder or User script folder?
If you put scripts in the Applications>Adobe InDesign>Scripts>Scripts Panel they show in the Script Panel's Application folder. You can also add folders inside of that folder if you want to sort scripts inside the panel.
You can also put them in the ID preferences folder. Those scripts show in the panel's User folder. Preferences>AdobeInDesign>VersionX>en_US>Scripts>Scripts Panel -
How to install fonts in indesign cs5 mac
My designer sent me some fonts for a document they created for me, but I have been unable to figure out how to install the fonts. Google search and adobe search and still I am not able to figure this out. I am using macintosh os 10.64.
Can someone provide any guidance? If you've already searched Google for something like "install fonts on mac 10.6" and have followed the instructions on the first link (under "Locations where fonts can be stored") then you'll have to post more details for us to help you. For example:
Which fonts are they? (Not all fonts can be used by a Mac, like Type 1 fonts for Windows. Give us the complete name of the font, hopefully with a file extension.)
How do you know they are missing? (Sure, when you open up the document it gives you a missing font warning, but it might just be a font naming problem, like InDesign is looking for "Helvetica Neue LE Regular" and your font is called "Helvetica Neue Regular." You can use Find Font under the Type menu to find & replace if necessary. If you don't see the missing font warning when you open the file, how do you know the fonts are missing?)
Where have you tried to install them? (There's quite a few places to install a font on a Mac; have you tried any of them? It's worth pointing out that installing multiple copies of fonts in multiple locations can cause fonts to not be read in some circumstances.)
What version of InDesign are you using? (If it's CS5 and there's a "Document Fonts" folder in the same folder as the InDesign document you're trying to open, then InDesign is supposed to be able to read them, but sometimes it borks up and you have to move or delete the Document Fonts folder in order to get it to work.)
and there are other minor possibilities like
What languages are the fonts supposed to support? (InDesign puts its Chinese, Arabic etc. fonts all the way at the bottom of its window)
and
Are you sure that the fonts aren't damaged? (What size are the files? Are they still in a zipped folder? Maybe they were broken when you downloaded them from your email.)
et cetera -
I'm a pretty advanced InDesign user, but have a FEAR and AVERSION to using and understanding Scripts. Can anyone recommend a link to something that is going to help me get over this hump? a "scripts in InDesign for dummies" sort of link that won't overwhelm me?!
Oh scripts are wonderful. They are tailored to a very specific use though. There are plenty of resources.
What is it you want to do with this script?
InDesign already comes bundled with a bunch of Scripts, go to Window>Utilities>Scripts (CS5) - for earlier versions go to Window>Automate Scripts
Here you have a bunch of scripts already. Like Make Grid.
Draw a rectangle on the page - then double click Make Grid and input your desired into the dialog box.
Hey Presto it's done.
If you right click or cmd click (pc/mac) then you can use the context menu that pops up to Reveal In Explorer.
Here you can load in whatever scripts you may find. Some come loaded into a browser like this one - http://in-tools.com/indesign/scripts/freeware/SeparatePages.jsx
All you need to do is copy the text to a Text Editor like Textwrangler or Notepad (not Word) and then save the file as SeparatePages.jsx

How to Install Trial Version of Tasmeem on Indesign CS 5.5?
Hello folks,
I'm thinking of purchasing the Tasmeem add on for Indesign CS 5.5, I've downloaded the file which is an .exe file, I can't seem to figure out how to install it on Indesign, any ideas?
Here's the application I'm talking about: Arabic typography in Adobe InDesign with Tasmeem Full Pack
Thank you.Hello Peter,
Yes, I'm using Windows 8.1, I did double click on the file and run it as administrator but all it does is open a blank window called Tasneem which has no options to do anything, and nor is there any sign of it in Indesign itself when I restarted it. I wonder if I'm supposed to place it in a certain folder, I did place it in the Indesign Plugins folder but it still did not show in Indesign upon opening. -

I do not understand how to install the Leander Script that I received as a gfit with my purchase of Adobe. The instructors say navigate to the folder where the fonts are. Then it says to select the fonts. I do not see how to select the fonts, then right click the fonts and choose install. I do not see these aspects of the instructions.

However, based on your description, the issue seems to be more related to script. I suggest that you should

How to install vimperator scripts?
Ive been searching all over looking for how to install vimperator scripts, but all I can find is ..
Or if you want to extend Vimperator, you can easily do that by just dropping a JavaScript file in its plugin directory.
Ok, sounds great, but where the hell is the plugin directory?
Ive searched all over and can't find any references to where the plugin directory should be. I tried the locate command and found no such plugin directory.

How do I start learning InDesign Scripting?
Hello Everyone!
I just cut down my workflow from 40 hours per document to less than 20 using scripts! So exciting!
Can anyone suggest a good recent book or online resource to start learning scripting for Indesign?
I'm loving what we can do with scripts, but I want to start understanding what exactly I'm doing, not just how to do it.
Thanks a bunch!
AmyHi, Amy!
A good start would be the following books:
Grant Gamble
InDesign CS5 Automation – Using XML & JavaScript
Peter Kahrel
Scripting InDesign CS3/4 with JavaScript
Scripting InDesign CS3/4 with JavaScript - O'Reilly Media
And the DOM (Document Object Model) documentation here (especially the chm files):
Indesign JavaScript Help
For German readers also:

Java.io.File vs. Jakarta Commons Upload
Does anyone know what the difference is between using Jakarta Commons Upload functionality vs. using Java's File API? It seems I could simply use Java's API with the same results. Is there some major difference between the two that I'm missing?
