How to install selected modules to save disk space?

Rapidinstall installs all the modules of the Oracle Applications. But if we want to install only selected modules to save disk space (In R12 disk space requirment is 160+gb) how can we do it?
Thanks and Regards
M.A.Rahman

If you really want to save space, install Vision 11.5.10.2, and upgrade the database to 10.1.0.5. Use the 10g tablespace rename feature to rename all APPS% tablespaces to some other name, can even just remove the APPS_TS from the tablespace names. Truncate applsys.fnd_ts_mig_cmds. The run OATM using uniform 64 KB segment size. The resulting database will be ~40GB, 30GB less than Vision from rapid install.
Then upgrade to R12 via the procedure in Oracle Applications Upgrade Guide: Release 11i to Release 12 (zipped) B31566-01. The resulting footprint will be about 65 GB, almost 100GB smaller than R12 Vision from rapid install.

  • How can I select the minimum size of Elements 10? It won't install due to lack of disk space on C:

    I have just purchased and downloaded Elements 10. Can't install it due to insufficient disk space on my C drive. I have enough space on my D drive, but it will not install there, probably because my sustem files are on C drive. The Install wisard does not provide for a selection of the size of Elements 10. Is there a way to select the minimum size? If so, how can I do this?

    There is not an option to customize the installation.  The system requirements for Photoshop Elements 10 request that you at least have 4 gigabytes free, plus more for installation, how much free space do you have on your C drive?

    How do i get rid of low disk space message ( you are running out of disk space on Hp_Tools (E popup HP tools drive E on pavilion g7-1219wm notebook pc.  It is very annoying.  I am i school and I have noticed it since downloading different assignments from my college black boards.

    Thanks Banhien for your quick response.  However my system shows no backup schedule to disable.  I do have a 'Manage Space" link and a Turn on schedule link and change settings link along with Restore options with 3 options-' restore all user files- select another backup to restore files from and recover system settings on your computer.   If I click on 'Manage Space link',  it gives me the option to 'Select how disk space is used by Windows back up'- then there are two options:  'data file backup'-which indicates i can free up space by deleting file backups, and the other option is 'system image' which is greyed out.  Upon clicking on the option (view backups) under 'data file backup option'- it shows the current data file backups on my hp_tools (e the date of the file is displayed and the amount of usage- it gives me the option to delete- should I click the delete button?

    Hi,
    Please try:
    Click Start, type "Backup and Restore," and press Enter.  This brings up Windows Backup which is a little different than system protection.
    In the middle of the Window you should see that the backup is on a schedule.  Disable this.
    Save your changes.
    Delete the backup folder on the E:
    Reboot notebook and verify that this resolves the issue.

  • In Tools/Account Settings/Disk Space I have changed the setting to "To save disk space do not download messages larger than 1000KB", but all are truncated.

    This occurred a few months ago when I changed the Disk Space setting to "To save disk space do not download messages larger than 1000KB".
    Since then Thunderbird has truncated every message I've received no matter what the size.
    Not your fault, but made much more annoying because my server, Telstra (Australia) does not let me read more than two or three messages at a time without a delay, whereas if messages under 1000KB appear in my inbox automatically I do not have this problem.
    Would really appreciate a solution, as when I've been away from my emails I can have a number accumulate and it wastes valuable work time waiting to download them.
    thanks, Wendy

    hi Matt, or someone else
    Only rarely do I get an email larger than 1000kb. But not matter how small the email, even if only a few kb, Thunderbird truncates every single one, and after I have "untruncated" a few emails, the server refuses to let me untruncate any more for a few minutes. I have used the Thunderbird Disk Save tool for years previously with no problems, and I think this happened when I changed it from 500 to 1000kb a few weeks ago (may have been due to a Mozilla update). I truncate large files because I pay $45/month for 4GB of usage, with absolutely no option to Telstra because I live in the bush in Queensland and Telstra wireless is our only choice for broadband. I use Windows Security Essentials and don't know how to turn off email scanning in it if indeed it does scan my emails (have always assumed it does, but can't find a way to see if it is). In any case I wouldn't want to have this feature off permanently. This problem with truncating all emails has occurred after I started to use Windows Security Essentials. Any more targetted thoughts please to what I've explained above.

  • Can I move cache to external hard drive to save disk space for photoshop and bridge?

    Can I move cache to external hard drive to save disk space for photoshop and bridge?

    So could I take everything off my external hard drive, save it to my Mac, then re-format it for my Mac and move everything back to the external hard drive?
    Yes. Keep in mind that you need to back up all data, including the data on an external drive. So if you're going to use the external drive to store original data, as opposed to backups, then you really need another one to back up the first one. You also need to back up the data on your internal drive, of course. This isn't optional. You must do it, or you'll lose everything sooner or later. All disk drives fail eventually, often with no warning.
    If I do that how do I format the external hard drive for my Mac?
    Launch the Disk Utility application and search the built-in help for "erase."
    Would it be easier to just buy a external hard drive that is for a Mac?
    All external hard drives work with Macs. Some might come pre-formatted for use with Macs, but it only takes a few minutes to do that yourself.

    Secure empty trash takes so much longer than just emptying the trash. Is secure empty trash just used to prevent files from being recovered, or does it actually save disk space on the iMac?

    I am aware that everyone said that it doesn't save any disk space, because I read through the thread.
    HOWEVER.
    I had gotten down to 500 mb of disk space and was going crazy trying to delete photos and movies.
    Finally I read about the secure delete, tried it. It took 24 hours, and then i hat 36 free gigabites.

  • RMAN9I HOW TO RESTORE ARCHIVE LOGS WITH LIMITED DISK SPACE

    제품 : RMAN

    RMAN9I HOW TO RESTORE ARCHIVE LOGS WITH LIMITED DISK SPACE
    ==========================================================
    PURPOSE
    이 자료는 Oracle 9.2 이상의 RMAN에서 사용 가능한 MAXSIZE 기능에 대하여
    설명할 것이다.
    How to restore archive logs with limited disk space
    Old Backup을 사용하여 RMAN으로 database를 recvoery할때, 모든 archived
    redo logfile들을 Restore할 destination의 disk space가 모자란 경우를 종종 만난다.
    이러한 경우 여러 개의 restore and recovery job으로 나누어 수행한다.
    즉, 첫 번째 restore and recovery job이 끝나면 archived redo logfile들을 지우고
    다음 적용될 것들을 restore한다. 그리고 다시 Recovery를 수행한다. 이러한 작업을
    원하는 시점까지 recovery를 하기위해 반복적으로 수행한다.
    Oracle 9iR2(9.2.0.x)부터 RMAN은 MAXSIZE option을 제공하는데 이것은 archive log
    file이 restore될 disk의 space를 control할 수 있게 해 준다.
    만약 disk space가 매우 제한적이라면, 즉 예를 들어 모든 archive log의 size 합보다
    disk free space가 적다면 MAXSIZE option을 사용하는 것은 매우 유용하다.
    이 OPTION이 기술되면 RMAN은 Media Manager에게 disk space 크기에 부합하는 만큼만
    archive log들을 restore하도록 한다. 부가적인 restore operation들은 restore된
    마지막 archive log가 적용될 때마다 발생한다.
    MAXSIZE option은 이러한 작업들을 하나의 rman job으로 처리하게 해 주고
    실수를 하지 않게 해 준다.
    아래는 MAXSIZE를 설명하기 위한 예제이며 총 6 단계로 구성되어 있다.
    STEP 1: Add data to the database to enforce log switches
    STEP 2: Backup the database and archive logs and delete the logs
    STEP 3: Add additional data to enforce new log switches
    STEP 4: Remove the data file and simulate a database crash
    STEP 5: Restore the data file from the backup
    STEP 6: Recover the database using MAXSIZE
    위 예제는 Unix와 Windows 모두에 적용될 수 있다.
    STEP 6 는 다음과 같은 조건으로 두 번 수행될 것이다.
    1) MAXSIZE가 archive log size보다 작은 경우:
    이 경우 RMAN-6558 Error message를 만나게 된다.
    그러므로 MAXSIZE를 archive log보다는 크게 설정해야한다.
    2) MAXSIZE가 archive log size보다 큰 경우:
    예를 들어 여러 개의 archive log를 포함할 수 있을 정도로 크게 설정하면
    restore/recovery는 user에게 transparent하게 수행되어진다.
    즉 archive log들은 restore된 후 applied되고 deleted되어 진다. 다시 새로운
    archive log들이 restore되어지고 applied된 후 deleted 되어 진다. 이러한 작업은
    recovery가 끝날 때까지 반복되어진다. 이러한 작업들이 진행되는 동안 RMAN은
    아무런 Message도 발생시키지 않는다.
    # Step 1: INSERT enough new data to generate log switches
    create table rman_tst (col1 varchar2 (10));
    begin
    for i in 1..30000 loop
    insert into rman_tst values(i,'test');
    commit;
    end loop;
    end;
    # Step 2: BACKUP the database and the archive logs automatically
    # and then delete the input
    run {
    backup database format='/web01/usupport/krosenme/admin/backups/db_%d%s%t'
    plus archivelog format='/web01/usupport/krosenme/admin/backups/arch_%d%s%t'
    delete input;
    # Step 3: INSERT enough new data to generate new log switches
    begin
    for i in 1..30000 loop
    insert into rman_tst values(i,'test');
    commit;
    end loop;
    end;
    # Step 4: REMOVE users01.dbf file and crash the database
    mv users01.dbf users01.org
    shutdown abort
    # Restore is now needed as the data file is deleted. The backup was
    # taken before the new data was added to it, thus archive logs are
    # needed to bring the database up to date
    # Step 5: RESTORE the data file from the full backup
    run {
    restore datafile '/web01/usupport/krosenme/oradata/kro_920/users01.dbf';
    # Step 6: RECOVER
    run {
    recover database delete archivelog maxsize 10 K;
    # This will fail with RMAN-6558 as the archived log has a size of 16 KB,
    # which is bigger than MAXSIZE limit of 10 KB. So the error is expected
    # and MAXSIZE works as designed.
    # Now rerunning STEP 6: but with MAXSIZE 50 K
    run {
    recover database delete archivelog maxsize 50 K;

    cold backup means offline backup, you shut database normally and copy datafiles to another location.
    i think operating system does not matter that much but it is RedHat Linux Enterprise Server.
    backing up archivelogs whith rman script which is:
    run {
    allocate channel c1 type disk format '$BKUPLOC/arch_%d_%u_%s_%p.bkp';
    change archivelog all validate;
    sql 'ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT';
    backup archivelog time between 'SYSDATE - (30*60/(60*60*24))' and 'sysdate';
    release channel c1;
    so here is the details.
    1. because everything is lost, we restored all files(datafiles, controlfiles, redologs etc) from offline backup meaning copied all files from another location to corresponding location.
    2. want to apply archive logs which were created after cold backup till disk failure and we have these archive logs with backups which were taken by rman.
    So
    first of all, we want to register these archive log rman backups(because these backup information does not exist in restored controlfile)
    and then restore them and then apply them.
    we need rman commands to register these backups and restore them.

  • How to install CPAN modules

    OS Ver: 10.8.5
    I'm just starting to mess around with Perl on my mac, and went to install WWW::Mecahnize, only to find that it would fail via CPAN. After a little digging, i found i needed Xcode command line utilities installed. After that, i found different suggestions of how to continue.
    What is the "best practice" to instal CPAN modules? Should i be root? Should i use a custom directory so as not to mess with the apple supported installation? Is there an article on this?

    Does that mean that you don't need to know a better option?
    You can install modules into a private CPAN as a non-root user.

  • How can I delete event files from iMovie to save disk space?

    I have been shooting a lot of HD video of my son's soccer games and am now realizing some of the problems with the newer iMovie 10.   It appears to not allow for partial video deletion of videos in events (really too bad because previous versions of iMovie did this really well),  And, sometimes it will not actually move the deleted file to the Trash to help free up disk space on the computer.  This is also a problem because I have to did around in the View in Finder mode to find the events I just deleted in order to move them to the Trash manually.  Yeegads!  All of this said, what I appear to have happening is a huge amount of video that I never plan to keep (most of a 90 minute soccer game does not make it into highlights -- imagine that?) clogging up my hard drive.  My poor computer needs to have a cholesteral check.
    Any advice on how to manage large video files 40 minute HD files within (or outside) of iMovie 10 so that I can efficiently eliminate irrelevant content and actually delete files to prevent disk overload would be greatly appreciated.  I am thinking about using iMovie 9 to edit down and delete the unwanted footage and then update the files into iMovie 10 for some of its bells and whistles any problems with that?
    I must admit, I think iMovie 10 is a failure in certain essential ways.  It dropped Keywords, its deletion is not true deletion, and it's all or nothing when deleting an event.  I have always been a huge Apple fan, but this new release of iMovie 10 has not been a good user experience for me. I have read a lot of feedback from others with similar problems and issues with iMovie 10 and would really like to understand what Apple plans to do to address some of these defficiencies in what will hopefully be a much better next version.
    Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Hi PGWilli,
    If you are satisfied with 8.0 then you shouldn't need 4.01 at all. As long as all your bookmarks and personal information are in the newer version, go ahead and remove the older version.

    Hello folks,
    arch1*.dbf files are archive redo log files? They are filling up my harddisk. Are they safe to remove? How can I stop archiving?

  • Create shortcut (to save disk space)

    I have an app that downloads images every ten minutes and there are always at least 100 images for different things on the server. I need a way to create a shortcut programattically when some of them are the same so I don't waste disk space (they are huge files and often can be the same).
    I guess I just was wondering if anyone knows how to create a Windows shortcut file? It looks like a pretty simple format, but it isn't plain text so I can't tell how it is done. Ideas?

    I don't think you understand my problem.Yes, this is true. I understand your question but not your problem.
    Surely you can only expect the shortcuts to be created on the client, because they contain the path of the file they refer to, and only the client knows this information. So if you were considering creating them on the server (and it isn't at all obvious where you planned to create them), that isn't going to work.
    Also, I don't find it surprising that a Java API to create Windows shortcuts. Why would you bother when their format is undocumented? Especially since a documented Windows API to create them already exists and you could just call that via JNI.
