How to install the oracle lite mobile server?

hi,every one!
I follow the wizard of the oracle lite mobile server,then
pop the window let me input the "host name""port"and "net server name",I have install oracle 9i,and establish a database named "oradb",establish an server named"oradb",the service can be listened and the port is "1521",but in the installation when i input the up numbers, it
tells me that "invalid server name",how can i do?
somebody that do me a favor tell me how to install the oracle 9i lite mobile server,it must be preciated!

It sounds like you are not properly connecting to the back end Oracle instance when Lite attempts to install the Mobile Server Repository.
Before attempting a re-install, why don't you try connecting to the same instance using SQL/Plus with the a connect string specifying hostname:1521:SID. If you are not able to connect you need to determine why.

The only way you can get 9iR1 release software is by asking it to your Oracle representative. The oldest 9i release available for public download is 9iR2.
You could try the administrative 9iR2 client, it can work with 9iR1 releases.

But I am not sure how to do it because I have tree-tier architecteur at home :
One computer with LINUX OS (OEL 5.5) which hold the Oracle Database 11gR2 -- Database tier
One computer with LINUX OS (OEL 5.5) which hold the Oracle Application Server 10g ver 10.2.0 (infra and middle) -- Midel-tier
One computer with XP OS -- Client tier
Could any one explain me how to install it?

I need to schedule a task on a SQL server running on NT to access an Oracle DB.
I have installed the Oracle ODBC driver on it and it is working well under my NT account.
But the SQL scheduler runs on another NT account and the task failed.
How is it possible to install the Oracle ODBC Driver for all NT users ???

The above link is a comprehensive "How to get set up and on my way" that I made for someone else learning Oracle/jdbc. Kind of a self-help resource page. I would start from the beginning and download the newest drivers, then set up your environment,...etc.

hope you installed the web server as a root user. if you have done, it is easy to take it from there . you can use wadm create-server
<install-root>/bin/wadm create-server user=admin .. config=.. --node=<hostname> <hostname>
finally, you should able to start/stop using Solaris 10 SVCS commands like
svcs -a | grep http
svcadm enable -s https-.. (for server instance)
if you chose enabling SMF during installation, you can do so for admin server a well. (so that you can start/stop using commands like svcadm enable -s admin-server)

The bundle patches are found by build number. If you go to metalink and check the bundle patches, there is a build number associated with them, usually also contained in the xellerate/config/Version.props file. This is written to the XSD table during patching. Once installed, there is no identifier that says "BPXXX applied".

Install it in different oracle home (say c:\forms6i). You should not be installing different oracle softwares in the same oracle home.

How to install the oracle workflow, I have download the workflow 263

I have download the workflow 263, but when i install it, it always show it the error.
"This is not a 10g oracle-home, please abort the installation".
I am new to oracle workflow.

In my case I have already installed the 10 Database, and I have carefully set Oracle_Home in my Windows Server 2003 environment variables parameters to the right directory
"D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1", and on the page where im suppose to select the product to install on the workflow universal installer screen. I choose leave it at the first option which is already choosen "Oracle Workflow 2.6.3.0.0", i don't choose the second option middletier since I donnot need it currently, but I keep getting this error of
"This is not a 10G ORACLE_HOME" when I click next for it to start installing.
Before I usually try to include this configuration parameter in my database sever parameter file "aq_tm_processes=2" but whenever i do that using a text editor, the database server crashes, and I'll have to do a fresh installation before I can use the database, this time I stopped trying to edit the server parameter file and I tried installing the workflow server straight with the steps above but the error, please any assistance will be appreciated. Oracle Lite Mobile Server Standalone Version

We are planning to run the Mobile Server in the DMZ and wanted to run the Mobile Server as standalone on it's own box. I found in the documentation that Oracle does not recommend to run the standalone version in production. Oracle recommends that the production use the Oracle Application Server for the middle-tier.
Does anyone know why Oracle recommends we don't use Mobile server as standalone in a production environment?

I have used the stand-alone as a production solution with 1000 users synching approx 2 GB a day and users databases having databases ranging from 50 MB to 1 GB.
I am deploying to app server and here is what I have found to be better.
* <strike>better</strike> easier management of the JVM. Actually, maintenance in general is much easier. I like the performance monitors that come with application server. Easier then logging into a telnet session and using mpstat and prstat.
Does it limit you going stand-alone? No.
But I would recommend that the bigger the system, the more robust your application server should be. Both in hardware and software (webcache, app server)

I am trying to get the Oracle9i Lite Mobile Server run as a Module under Apache.
my platform is Linux 7.2, which of course is documented as an option.
I managed to install the mobile server and the following document is

I have one problem to overcome the module to load in Apache
'libwtgapach.so'
is the required shared library.
This does not load due to following error,

I found this post explaining to recompile Apache

Scott, I have yet to get WTG server to work as an NT service when loaded as an Apache module.
We've had to load it into a non-service based Apache server (one that runs from the command line in a MS-DOS prompt window). This is on XP Pro.
We've switched to running our WTG server on Linux.

In the release notes for 11g, I find this:
"The Oracle Lite Mobile Client is desupported in this release. The Sync Control APIs for the Oracle Lite Mobile Client are still provided in this guide, but will be removed when the Oracle Lite Mobile Client is fully deprecated.
Supported mobile clients include the Berkeley DB and SQLite Mobile Clients.
I am not sure I understand. Will I still be able to use Olite db with the Sync Control API for Oracle lite (like before), or does it mean that the sync control APIs now work only with SQLite and BDB? We are in the process of porting our app from WM6.1 to Android. If we install the latest Mobile server, will I have to change my WM6.1 app so that it supports SQLite or BDB?
I think the latter is the case, but I became unsure when I read the release note.
