When baltwosaid NO emphatically, that was described as CORRECT ANSWER. Ditto in the caeses of the radically different answers from  Camelotand Matt Clifton
Could it be that CORRECT ANSWER needs better defining by Apple?
That apart, yes, switching might involve rebooting. About the voices, well, I was the other day adding voice to a commentary in a video I was working on. There's only American English accent in SL — Lion I believe has British ones as well.
Why not, I wondered, try to install Lion purely for academic interest, maybe with an SD card (Sandisk Ultra II, 16GB) as Tom Nelson says is possible at http://macs.about.com/od/macoperatingsystems/ss/Perform-A-Clean-Install-Of-Os-X- Lion-On-Your-Mac.htm

  • Windows server 2008 R2 is not showing the second hard disk.

    Hi,
We are having two windows server 2008 R2. In that we have, two hard disk and each with 146GB storage capacity. But it is displaying only the storage capacity of a single hard disk. Seems like the second hard disk in not recognized.
What can be done to clear this?

    Hi,
As Burak mentioned, first you need to check if it displayed in Disk Management.
If so, see if you can initial it, create a volume and assign a drive letter.
If not, check if it is recognized in BIOS. Also test if it could be recognized in another computer.

  • Would like to add additional hard disk besides physically installing the new hard disk anything else need to be doing?

If it's a generic SATA HD you'll probably need to format it for Mac using Disk Utility.

  • How to set as default Users folder the one on the second Hard Disk?

I recently upgrade my macbook pro with a second hard drive, an SSD, so I placed the old one were the super drive used to be.
Yesterday I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion via clean install on the SSD.
So now I want to keep system files and apps on SSD and everything else  like songs, movies etc from the iTunes on the old hard drive, plus documents of mine.
On the old hard drive I deleted everything but the Users folder.
I tried to change the Home Directory from the Users and Groups in System Preferences but then it wouldn't let me log in in the cloud or in the MacApp Store and every time I tryed to open "Mail, contact & calendars" or "iCloud" from system preferences it crashes..
Any Solutions? Thank you very much for your time.

    - Create variables for variants: use transaction STVARV. You should create one variable for fiscal year with type 'parameter', one for period with type 'parameter', one for fiscal year 'select option' and one for period 'select option'.
    - when saving your variants for the different programs, fill the checkbox 'Selection variables' in the attributes for fiscal year and period; use the button 'selection variables' for choosing the variables created in STVARV.
    - When closing the period, you should use STVARV for changing the variables. All the variant using the variant variables will then automaticaly use the new value.

  • How to exculde the second hard drive backup from time machine of lion os

My Mac Pro 2010 mid version is using Mac Lion OS, and I have installed three internal hard drives (two 3T hard drives for storage one 2T hard drive for time machine hard drive). When I start to run the time machine to backup the system hard drive, the time machine will include those internal hard drives automatically, and it stop backup and claim time machine is lack of storage space. Of course I know it is not big enough to backup those extra hard drive. However, I just only need to backup the system drive only, but I cannot locate any setting related how to exclude other internal hard drive in time machine. So I still cannot backup my system drive yet.

    See:

    10.  Can I exclude things from Time Machine backups?

  • Re: How to use the second hard drive in Satellite A300?

I have been given a second hand Satellite A300 that was being thrown out due to a faulty DVD.
I fixed the DVD and have a perfect working system.
On opening the case I discovered it has 2 x 250GB hard drives. I checked CMOS and the 2 drives show. Yet, Vista only shows the one drive.
Excuse my ignorance but how do I access the second drive?

I have Satellite A300 with two hard drives and each HDD has other operating system. Both HDDs are recognized properly.
I dont know what is wrong there but both HDDs should be recognized automatically.
Try to set BIOS to default settings and check it again.
Try to start bootable Microsoft installation disc and check if both HDDs are shown in setup.
I just hope there is no some hardware problem.

There are 2 ways of running a test on your hard drive . One way is through BIOS (F10) and other is through HP System diagnostics(F2). How exactly was test initiated from your end ?
The SMART imminent failure for Hard drive is an indication that your Hard drive is on verge of failure or might fail anytime depending on usage. I would recommend you to backup your files immediately because your hard drive might die at any moment and I'm pretty sure its needs to be replaced.
Kindly check the instructions over here in order to run the test for your hard drive

  • How to rename the "Windows" hard disk icon in the boot options screen

I have been able to rename the "Recovery HD" hard disk icon in the boot options screen by finding its mount mount and running
sudo bless --folder "/Volumes/Recovery HD" -label "Mac Recovery".  When I do this for the Windows object, it is not renamed, even when the Windows partition that it represents is formatted FAT32.

Update 2013-05-08  sudo bless --folder "/Volumes/Win OS"  -label "Win OS" fails with "Could not write scale 1 bitmap label file".  "Win OS" is the name of the Windows folder in Finder.

  • How can i install windows 7 on my second hard disk while the first hard disk running with windows 8.1

    I have Toshiba laptop P-75 model :
this model have two slots for the hard disks , on my first hard disk i am running the default windows 8.1 which came with the original condition (when i bought my laptop) , since i am a civil engineer many of my field programs  is not working on the
windows 8.1 version and the rest programs barely works appropriate!
I want to download windows 7 on the second hard disk, thus having dual boot in order to chose which windows i want to use.
    thanks in advance
    ENGR. Saeed Al-Khaled

You need to consult with Toshiba as this is a hardware specific problem and you may not be able to install Windows 7 dues to lack of hardware drivers and/or the laptop being configure for Secure Boot which Windows 7 does not cope with either.
It is your responsibility to do the research for this project to ensure compatibility and needed hardware drivers.

Where can I buy a larger hard drive for my late 2008, 15" macbook pro?  From reviewing questions and answers on the support community it would appear that having Apple remove the old and install the new hard drive is recommended.  But how/where?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install the new hard disk yourself if you want to. You just need a 2'5" SATA II hard drive, which is compatible with your MacBook Pro. You can buy one at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ You can filter hard drives by computer, so press a "Click to view all...", choose your computer in the sidebar and it will give you the compatible hard drives.
There are different brands for the MacBook Pro. The most recommended are HGST and Seagate, which have good reputation. A 7200 rpm hard drive will give you extra performance

  • Installing a second hard drive in my HDX16 - Manual says yes, but I don't see a slot

    Hello,
My HDX16-1200 manual says I can support a second hard drive, however I opened up the computer and do not see a spot to mount the drive.
Does anyone know where the second disk gets installed?
    Thanks.

I've been finding some great instructions on how to install a second hard drive in my PowerMac G5, but been unable to find some instructions on steps after that that assist my low tech-intelligence quotient. I'm planning on getting a Western Digital 750GB Caviar SE16.
    Basically my questions are:
    1) Once I've installed a second SATA internal hard drive, do I have to wipe the entire contents of my first hard drive and reformat the Mac completely? Or can I just format that second hard drive and have it work seamlessly with my current configuration?
    2) I understand I can partition a second hard into more than one volume. I'd like to be able to use the second internal drive, but also have the increased reliability of RAID. Can I create a RAID array on that drive as well? How might I do this without screwing up?
