How to Install Tiger and keep Classic?

I have a Powermac G4 Dual Processor with 10.2.8 and Classic.
I want to install Tiger, but keep Classic too.
Should I do an Archive and install?
Will it wipe out my Classic installation?
(I have a LaCie 250GB drive to do a backup onto first.)

make sure you buy the retail full install DVD (black)! Then do a simple upgrade following this procedure: 10.4 Tiger Upgrade: Decision tree+checklist.

Upgrade 10.2.8 to Tiger and keep Classic

I have an iMac 2.1 with 10.2.8 that I am striving to use instead of Windows machines. I find it much more pleasant (no frequent cursing at the machine).
I use software that originally was available for both Windows and Mac (Blackbox from www.oberon.ch, a document-centric development environment). It runs on Classic, but was not ported to OSX. The other software I use is generally cross-platform (OpenOffice, Acrobat, Firefox, ...) and on OSX.
I wish to upgrade OSX to keep current with the open-source- software requirements, but need to keep Classic so I can run Blackbox.
What is the best way to do that? From reading the forums, it would appear to be possible by at least 2 methods:
1. a clean install, followed by a re-install of OS9 (and of everything else?).
2. an "upgrade" or "update"? (after backing up everything to be safe). [this appears to be the easier method?]
3. some other suggestions?
A second question: if I wish to get a Mac notebook, only G4 (or earlier) systems will have Classic capability? Does OSX come with Classic, or does it need to be purchased separately?

The easiest and fastest way to achieve what you want is a simple upgrade. Make sure you buy the retail full install version, then follow this procedure: 10.4 Tiger Upgrade: Decision tree+Checklist .
Concerning your second question: OS 9 is part of the software install&restore disks that ship with any PowerPC Mac but it is NOT part of the retail version. However, if you have any set of restore disks you will find OS 9 on them.

Re-installing tiger and keeping files?

managed to break osx a load by using some horrible font management software.
if i do a re-install with "preserve users and network settings" does this keep all my old emails, files, mp3s etc?
says Home folders and their contents will be kept in the manual but wanted to double check on here to see if anyone has done this before really!

The MFC-420 CN is not listed. Sounds like you have a printer whose driver never was updated. Contact Brother technical support and ask them to fix that issue.

I successfully installed Oracle 9i first under F:\oracle\ora90. While installing Forms 6i, I selected the "Typical" and gave the path as "F:\oracle\ora90" and clicked on the Next Button. Immediately I got an error message as "The location specified, 'F:\oracle\ora90' is already used as an Oracle home for 'Oracle 82 Beta'. It cannot be used as an Oracle home for 'nt'".

How to install XI and EP on same server. I tried to install XI then EP . After EP installed then iam not able to access XI j2ee engine . I think some where port conflicts . I gave system number for XI : 00 and EP : 02

Hi Kristene,
I have installed XI and EP on the same server (for test purposes) without any problems, so it should be possible. I installed them in a different order (first EP then XI), but I don't think that matters much.
The only real difference is that I kept the system number the same.
What do you mean exactly with not being able to access the XI j2ee engine? How did you try to access it?

What do you mean you can't write HTML5 code? Are you working within an HTML5 doc type?
To make HTML5 your default doc type, go to Edit > Preferences > New Document. Click on screenshots below.
To create a new page, go to File > New > Blank page > HTML. Select none from the 3rd column. Select HTML5 doc type. Hit Create button.
