How to install unsupported (obsolete) toolkits/modules in newer LV versions?

Hello,
Installers of LV toolkits/modules do not permit installation in newer LV environments. I don't know if that is necessary, but I am quite positive most of them would actually work 100%. If this "feature" cannot be revised, is it possible to obtain a workarround procedure (file/folder specification) for manual installation?
I am specifically interested in installing the LV 2012 ARM Module in LV 2014. Even if I find time and mashine to install LV2012, than the ARM module, I am not sure I would be able to completely "move/copy" the ARM installation into the corresponding folder structure of the LV 2014.
So, is there an explicit manual installation procedure?

I have no knowledge of the specific toolbox you are asking about, but the ability to move old toolboxes to new LabVIEW depends (for the most part) on things like hardware or DLL compatibilities.
If a toolbox is written in 100% LabVIEW, you should be able to use it with no problem. Earlier this year I needed to access a device via telnet. Unfortunately, NI had dropped the telnet VIs from the internet toolkit is 2012. I was able to copy the old telnet VIs to my 2014 installation, and they worked fine.

The latest version of Muse is 2014.2, so you need to uninstall another version of Muse manually.

How to install Spectral Measurements and Modulation Toolkits for multiple versions of Labview

I installed NI-RFSG, NI-RFSA, the Spectral Measurements Toolkit, and the Modulation Toolkit. I have both LabVIEW 7.1 and 8.0 installed on my system. I developed an application in LV 8.0 and now I need to revert it to LV 7.1. The problem I am having is that add-on toolkits seem to only have been installed for LV 8.0 because there are several missing VIs and controls when I try to open the LV 7.1 version. I tried re-installing the toolkits, but this is not fixing the problem. How can I get the installer to install the toolkits for both versions of LabVIEW?

it's a know issue. You can read it in the modulation toolkit readme :
Two Versions of LabVIEW Installed
The installer supports installation of the Modulation Toolkit into a single
version of LabVIEW; installation of the Toolkit into multiple separate
installations of LabVIEW (for instance LabVIEW 7.0 and LabVIEW 7.1 installed
on the same PC and in separate directories) is not supported or recommended.
An unsupported means of doing so though involves manually copying files from
one LabVIEW installation to another. To do so, you can install the
Modulation Toolkit to the home directory of one LabVIEW installation, and
then manually copy the installed files to the other LabVIEW installation.
The following list includes pertinent directories and files. Copy all files
from these directories, including any subdirectories, using the equivalent
relative paths to the LabVIEW home directory for the target.

If you are looking at determining whether a single FM is obsolete or not is by this method:
Go to FM in SE37 -> Goto Attributes Tab -> General Data section -> look above the Edit Lock field ... where SAP places the release status and date of the FM, if the FM is obsolete, the text Function Obsolete appears
This is one way of finding out one FM @ a time
However if you want to check on a mass scale, I dont have a SAP system here hence cant confirm, however, all FMs are stored in TFDIR database table. Please scroll through the fields of the DB table to check whether any field relates to release status or the like. If it does, then from SE16, you can put the value corresponding to "Obsolete" in the field and run to check all FMs.

How can i install windows xp on bootcamp on new Mac mini?
I know that i should get an external usb optical drive, but buying such hardware for one use is a waste of money. Is there any other method?
I currently own a MacBook white, and really like the configuration. I it possible to copy the image of bootcamp to new mac mini? If so, what will happen to hardware and drivers?

Having read further websites, I am now a bit more dubious you can do this, at least with an XP installer.
However if you have a USB memory stick and an existing Windows computer (even a Boot Camp one) or can borrow one you could try using the free WinToFlash utility to make a supposedly bootable USB memory stick of the installer. See http://wintoflash.com/overview/en/
The problem is XP predates EFI firmare and XP only really knows BIOS firmware. As such (supposedly) XP would have problems booting from a USB device fully - it might lose connection part way through. Windows Vista and 7 do support EFI firmware.
The other approach I mentioned of temporarily moving the hard disk from the Mini to the MacBook so you can use the MacBook internal CD/DVD drive would work - be careful of the cables. Fortunately a new Mac mini and an old MacBook are two of the easier models to get at the hard disk. See http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook-Core-2-Duo-Hard-Drive-Replacement/514/1 (they also list other MacBook models) and http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-Mac-Mini-Mid-2011-Hard-Drive-Replacement/ 6422/1
Regardless of which method you try, the first step would be on the Mac mini to run Boot Camp Assistant and to create the partition for Windows. Then via either method try booting from a Windows XP installer.
As I have taken Macs apart many times, I personally might go the swapping the hard disk over route.

Have you considered either cloning your old 60GB hard disk drive to the new 160GB model, or using your recovery discs to install a fresh copy of the operating system plus ThinkVantage utilities to the new hard disk drive?

[SOLVED] How to install and run (on debian) a separate, downlevel version of firefox for the F5/firepass VPN?

I'd like to continue running an uplevel iceweasel ([http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Corporation_software_rebranded_by_the_Debian_project which is firefox]) but apparently need to run a downlevel version in order to run a particular vendor-supplied plugin. How best to do that (i.e., with minimal performance degradation, and without affecting my package management)? Or is there another way to solve the general problem (running the F5 Network Access Plugin)? Why I ask:
My employer is giving me remote access via a SecurID token and the F5 Network Access Plugin (F5NAP). The latter is in fact a browser plugin, which seems to me an odd way to implement a VPN, but it's the only offered option. Unfortunately,
* the only browsers supported for linux are Firefox 3 and Firefox 8 (per [http://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_apm/manuals/product/apm_compatibility_matrix_10_2_1.html this]--scroll to "Linux Operating Systems")

So I first tried to install the F5NAP on my iceweasel, hoping it was sufficiently like the listed versions. I browsed to my employer's site, logged in using the token, and followed the link to install the plugin. Unfortunately, that failed: the xpi began running, but then quit with the message

How to install HP Deskjet 990cxi on my new laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium on an AMD 64

I have spent two days trying to install my excellent HP Deskjet 990cxi on my new laptop running Win7 Home Premium on an AMD 64-bit processor. I want to do two things:
to set the printer up to run direct from a USB port on my laptop. Having done this, I then want
to set the printer up on BT Home Hub Type 2A, connected through the hub's USB, as a network computer.
So far under windows, this has proved a huge problem. It seems that the printer settings file is in 32-bit, but in the attempt to install the printer through the Windows "add printer" in Devices and Printers, and after a Windows update on the program to find Deskjet 990c, I run into a brick wall with the printer failing to install. I get the following message: "Printer driver was not installed. Access is denied ". Yet I am loading the printer drivers as Administrator.
By contrast, I also run Ubuntu 11.04 linux on this computer under Windows.
Ubuntu loaded the 990cxi drivers in an instant when it was connected via USB to the laptop; and more importantly,
Ubuntu set the printer us as a network printer running off the BT Home Hub type 2A and it worked perfectly. I even tested it by sending a graphics file from my garden to the printer indoors and the quality was perfect.
So the observation is this: If Ubuntu can load both printer settings on the same laptop, why is Windows 7 such a trial? Can HP do anything about this?

I'm running OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 on a MacBook Pro.
Using MacPorts I've installed the following items:
mysql5 @5.1.45_0 (active)

p5-dbd-mysql @4.013_0+mysql5 (active)
p5-dbi @1.609_0 (active)
perl5.10 @5.10.1_1+darwin (active)
Everything seems to be working, with the exception ofthe Perl DBI module, and the DBD module. Whenever I try to run a Perl program using DBI, I get the following error:

I've found the problem. I didn't realize that OS X Snow Leopard came with 2 versions of Perl installed, so when I wanted to upgrade to 5.10, I installed it using MacPorts. I also hadn't realized that MacPorts paths had /opt/local prepended to them, so I was running the wrong version of Perl with it. Now I don't get the original error message I posted, but I do get these error messages:
dyld: lazy symbol binding failed: Symbol not found: mysqlinit
Referenced from: /opt/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.1/darwin-multi-2level/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql. bundle

How to Install Latest SB Live Drivers Onto New Install of

I upgraded to a new motherboard and CPU and have just installed a fresh new copy of Windows XP on the machine. I haven't plugged it in yet, but I will be installing a SB Li've Value CT4830.
In preparation for installing this card, I tried to download the latest drivers, but the web site says that in order to install the latest driver, I must already have the driver from July 2002 installed.
Where can I get the July 2002 driver? It can't be on my original CD since I bought the card before 2002.
I am trying to do a minimal install of drivers, and do not need or want to install any non-essential appliction software, unless its necessary to get surround sound.

Same thing here with me. I recently got a new system but kept my Soundblaster
card (Li've Platinum 5.) and with it a fresh install of XP SP2. I knew I would
have to use the Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe driver update because the origi-
nal CD could not be used (same as you). So I was doing a fresh install of the
Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe with no pre-existing Soundblaster stuff installed (save
for the XP Soundblaster drivers).
So here is what happened:
* ran Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe; did the typical install
* sound is ok -- however, I ran the diagnostics and the mixer, soundfonts, and
one other one (the last item, forgot which one it was) failed
* tried to start the mixer to verify the mixer failure and the familiar "CTDevcon.dll
has failed" message came up
I have had this happen to me before in trying to install the Li'veDrvUni-Pack and I did
manage to get everything working again but I forget how. I believe it involved running
the CTzapxx program which I did try but XP keeps on putting in the default Sound-
blaster drivers after rebooting. I think this might be the problem (the fact that the
default drivers keep on getting installed) but I can't remember how to get around it.
Moderators/experts/technicians -- any ideas?

Can't install latest patch, "Patch Module for 32-Bit Version of Lenove Patch Utility" v 1.0.3

I'm hoping someone can offer some help: I am unable to install the above patch on a T61 w/XP Pro/SP3. Error is simply, "1 Package did not install." Manual install gets same result. In the past when a patch did not instaqll I have had success by downloading and manually installing it, but I can't find the executable for this particular patch. Can anyone make a suggestion? Or point me to the executable?

This is how I was able to successfully install the Lenovo Patch Utility:
1) Enable if necessary and log into the built-in Administrator account.
2) Run System Update. Download and install the Lenovo Patch Utility (unsure if this is a necessary step,)
3) At this point, the Lenovo Patch Utility is not installed. The previous version of the Lenovo Patch Utility will display in Programs and Features.
4) Run System Update under an administrator account. Download and install the Lenovo Patch Utility (I ran this under a user-created Administrator account; unsure if works under built-in Administrator account..) Lenovo Patch Utility will no longer appear in Programs and Features. This indicates it has been succesfully installed.
5) Disable built-in Administrator account if desired for security reasons.
