How to install upgrade snow leopard in macbook pro?

I bought a macbook pro 2011 2.2 ghz quad core i7 and would like to install snow leopard in one partition to run older software. I had the full version of os leopard, but can't install in the new macbook pro to upgrade to snow leopard. I can't upgrade snow leopard in my power G5 either because it needs intel cpu. Is there away to upgrade leopard to snow leopard in macbook pro 2011? I have not bought the snow leopard upgrade yet. Thank for your help.

See the bottom of this user tip to determine if Snow Leopard can be installed on your MacBook Pro:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2455
If it can, you'll need to find out the version of Snow Leopard installer that was available at the time that machine was released based on the age of the machine.
Snow Leopard releases are here:
10.6.6 on January 6, 2011
10.6.7 on May 4, 2011
10.6.8 on June 23, 2011

  • Force Install of Snow Leopard on MacBook Pro

I purchased a used MacBook Pro from IBM where I worked until a few days ago.  I got the laptop and it has been erased by some disk utility that IBM uses to wipe the disk clean.  I try using the Option button to boot to the disk utility but it seems that absolutely nothing is left on the MacBook.  When I boot using the Option key, it brings up a screen with two options. One looks like a hard disk that has the word WINDOWS underneath it and the other looks like a CD called MacOSx Install DVD.  Under that, I can choose a network.  When I click on the DVD, it just sits and does nothing.  From reading other posts, it seems that I must wipe the partitions off the hard disk first and then the DVD will start the install.  However, I do not know how to ge the disk utility and/or whatever IBM did to this thing disabled even the disk utility.  I called Apple last night and made an appointment to do a force install but looking at posts, seems I should be able to do this myself with the right key strokes and order of things.  I'm brand new to Mac. Does anyone know how I can verify if the disk utility still exists on the Mac? Wouldn't that be in the BIOS or in Ring 0 of the hard drive?  Did IBM wipe it out, too or something?

You have to find out the exact model of the machine then erase and install the operating system that came with it from the factory or 10.6 earliest.

How to install Snow Leopard on Macbook Pro? keep getting msg- cannot install Internal HD is used for Time Machine- this was reset to external HD and still get msg?

At some point, your internal HD was selected for use as Time Machine backups, and a Backups.backupdb folder was created at the top level.   So OSX thinks you're trying to install it on the same drive as your backups.
Open your internal HD with the Finder (you won't find it via a Spotlight or Finder search) and delete that folder.

  • How do I upgrade Snow Leopard to Lion? I have installedOS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1

How do I upgrade Snow Leopard to Lion? I have installed OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
I have another machine that already has Lion on it and I want them both to have the same OS version.

Not the iTunes App Store, but under the Apple
icon at top left>Appstore, likely only 10.8/Mountain Lion will be found, if you don't want that & want Lion, you have to call Apple & get a key for Lion download.

Do make a copy of the Installer before running it, like baltwo points out.

  • Cannot install snow leopard in macbook pro early 2011. disk is rejected. what do I do?

Unable to install snow leopard in macbook pro early 2011. When I put in the disk, the computer does not accept it. What can I do?

    lord1908,
some Early 2011 MacBook Pros originally came with Snow Leopard installed, and some originally came with Lion installed. If yours originally came with Snow Leopard installed, then you should be able to install Snow Leopard from its model-specific grey Mac OS X Install DVD. (The white retail Snow Leopard DVD can’t be used with it; it was made for use with earlier models, which originally came with either Tiger or Leopard installed.) If yours originally came with Lion installed, then it won’t accept any Snow Leopard DVD; instead, you’d be able to use OS X Internet Recovery to download and install its original version of Lion from Apple’s servers.

  • How to install windows 7 on Old Macbook Pro 15'inch 2.3 Core 2 Duo

How to install windows 7 on Old Macbook Pro 15'inch 2.3 Core 2 Duo:
I want to known how to install windows 7 on Old Macbook 15'inch 2.3 Core 2 Duo by using usb
I try many time, but after restart bootcamp partition, apple show blinking folder error
I think this firmware not support to install windows by usb
    NOTE:
I Cannot install Apple New OSX Mountain Lion, Mavericks etc in this MAC
If I cannot install windows 7 on this MAC, so tell me what I will do with this MAC  ?

I agree with the optical drive, mine acted strange, and i thought people were crazy and my drive was shot, but a simple cleaning disc worked miracles.
But- are you trying to reboot with both the USB install and the DVD install both plugged in?  that would definitely cause confusion.
Do this, reboot with NOTHING plugged in.  Once you hear the Mac chime, immediately press and hold option.
You should only see the Mac HD, and Recovery Partition.
THEN plug in your external DVD, and wait a min or two, you should see a disc icon appear next to the recovery partition that says something like windows.  If that doesnt appear after a min or two, unplug it and put the USB stick and do the same thing.  I had to do it this way on my mid 09 MBP.
Let me know if this works to start the install.  If not we may have to start over with Bootcamp Assistant

  • Can i run snow leopard on macbook pro puchased new in 2009?

Can I run snow leopard on macbook pro purchased new in 2009?

The Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD should still be available at this time from Apple for $20. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775 to purchase it. It may still be in the Legacy Products list. The App Store which is required to download 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion is part of the 10.6.6 update.
If you wait to long and they no longer have any in stock you will have to buy it from eBay or Apple resellers that still have stock. But you will have to pay a premium since the DVDs are no longer being made. Snow Leopard DVDs are already over $100 on Amazon.
