How to install video card driver?

I download a video card driver, after uncompress, i have 6 files as below:
glx.so
libGL.so.1
riva_install
libGL.so
LibGL.so.1.0
XF86_SVGA
It seems that only riva_install and XF86_SVGA is executable files, so i run them. But there are some problems cause i can not continue:
1. when i run riva_install, screen displays:
Enter path to the X server tree.
If unsure, press <Enter>.
-n Path [usr/X11R6] :
Then i press <Enter>, it displays as follow:
/My_Download/VideoCard/X-GLX-libc5-i386-dyn/riva_install: test: argument expected
At this point, what should i input?
2. When i try to run XF86_SVGA, screen displays:
XF86_SVGA: Cannot find /lib/ld-linux.so.1
3. I use netscape to view webpage. Usually when i open a new page, netscape always ask me to install cookies again and agin, i press ok, and next time, it still ask the same question, even i press ok for N times to accept install cookies.
Could you please kindly answer me?
Thanks
Joanna

After run kdmconfig, i have following description:
Video Device: NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 (32MB)
Screen Size: 16-inch (41cm)
Resolution/Colors: 1024x768 - 256 colors @ 85Hz
Which means the system recognize my video card, i don't need to install extra driver for that, right?
But how come i can't see picture clearly?
And whenever i open a new page, netscape often ask me to install cookies again and again?
Thanks
Joanna

  • How to update video card driver?

Hi, I have a Toshiba satellite pro C660-1LR laptop and I don't know how to update the video card driver which is an "Intel® HD Graphics". I have been to the intel site and when scanning for updates I was given this message:
"A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer."
I was wondering where to go from here as the lack of update for my video card driver is preventing me from playing some games.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to install video card - G450 for solaris8

    hi everbody:
when i installed solaris 8, the supported video card driver list didn't contain the G450, so i got the patch from sun website, the driver patch looks like 109401-11,is it right?
and then how can i do next?? BTW,I still fail to install solaris8 because of missing driver G450.

you can install it without the CDE,log on as root
use patchadd command to install the patch
run kdsconfig to test the the screen to see if it can work properly. Then reboot.
    hope this can help.
    Good luck

  • How to install video card?

I have just received a *Mac nVidia GeForce 4 Ti 4600/Ti4600 128MB Video Card for G4* I ordered on eBay, and am seeking advice before installing.
No instructions or CD came with this item, so do I just remove the card that's in my MDD and install this one? Any slot preferred? Any drivers or firmware to update?
Also, I've read that a 300w power supply is recommended for use with this card, but I am unable to locate specs. for my machine. I assume its present power supply will suffice.
    thanks

so do I just remove the card that's in my MDD and install this one?
    Yes.
    Any slot preferred?
    Use only the AGP slot.
Any drivers or firmware to update?
Remains to be seen, but OS X should support it.
I assume its present power supply will suffice.
You have either a 360w or 400w PSU in the MDD.

  • Help! How to install graphics card driver?

I installed a Solaris 8 system on Intel platform with S3 Savage 4 graphics
card equipped. Seems Solaris doesn't support this card, so I downloaded a
driver file named savage_drv.o from somewhere. How can I install it
under Solaris to replace default standard VGA card I installed during
    installation.
    Thanks

i'm in the same situation. i have solaris 8 x86 and i went to http://www.probo.com/timr/savage40.html and downloaded the savage_drv.o driver as well (because it's the only hope i've found related to running a savage4 on this platform) and i'm not sure how to go about switching out this driver for the VGA driver that's currently implemented. there are no instructions about this on the site, the only real instructions are for linux/bsd and those are pretty much no-brainers anyway.
if ANYONE knows how to do this that would be great. thanks in advance!

  • OSX won't install video card driver?

    Hey everyone.
I have a mid-2009 macbook pro with a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics card.
I'm running 10.6.8 and seem to be having a few issues with openGL performance crashing Adobe After Effects and (possibly) making Final Cut X unusable.
I checked NVIDIA's website and according to this page there is an update for my graphics card. It takes me to this page.
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-macosx-256.02.25f01-driver.html
I download the driver, but upon install i'm greeted with a message saying that it is not supported on my system.
I don't get it, does anyone know what's going on?
    Thanks.

Whew, seems we have either a bad Hard Drive, bad RAM, or bad Logic Board.
Have you run Apple Hardware Test from the original Install Disc?
Hold d key or alt key at bootup to choose AHT, if it has 2 Install DVDs, AHT may be on the second one, run the extended tests.

  • How to update Video Card Driver ATI X1600 MBP

I am getting really laggy video from game
so I want to try to update the driver
    any ways to do it
cause I can't figure out a way to do it
anyone can help will be sweet
    thanks

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firmware
    and
    http://www.sharpened.net/glossary/definition.php?firmware
also, as i understand the way the ati drivers work, the changes are only good for that particular session, so when you reboot, everything is reset to the default settings. that may have changed or may not apply to all the driver updates available.

  • Not install the video card driver

Please help solve the problem, HP Pavilion dv6 6051-er Why not install the video card driver or a video card is burned? When I install a video card driver Radeon (TMM) HD 6770 in a few seconds during the installation screen is black and so is, download the drivers from multiple sites from off site and others, please: help solve the problem.

    that´s a strange problem.
Maybe the agp-slot somehow is faulty since you ran into problems with booth cards.
Have you visually check mainboard for any signs of bad capacitors, agp slot interface etc.
PS,  seems like you do the driver install about the same order as me
    - Win XP + all updates
    - DirectX
    - Inf driver
    - Vga driver
    - rest......
If the problems occured on a regulary basis when playing games etc, then it could be some heatingproblems or to weak psu, but that don´t seems to be the problem for you.

  • Sudden video card drive error causing freeze

I am using Premiere Elements 11 and suddenly it started to show video card drive error when trying to create a new project or open an existing one. The error says that Adobe detected an incompatible display driver GeForce 9600 GT/PCIe/SSE2 3.3.0 and ask me to update the driver. If I click OK on this message Adobe starts creating or opening a project but freezes. I cannot even close the application as the computer does not react to Ctrl+Alt+Del neither so I have to force restart it. When it freezes I see two Adobe logo at the bottom of the screen in the taskbar as if it would try to open the application twice.
I have the latest video card driver installed: version 340.52. Moreover, Premiere Elements opened and worked without problem before and I have not changed anything in my video card driver before the error started to show up.
Any idea what can be the problem and how to fix it?

  • How to install video Integration component

    Dear Experts
Link how to install video Integration component
    https://websmp106.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000739542010E/index.htm
    Regards
    Carlos Farías

    It says
To install this component, just drag the File "XviD_Codec 1.0 alpha.component" into Library/QuickTime. The Library directory can be found either at your home directory (to install just for the actual user) or at the top-level of your startup volume (this needs an administrator account). DO NOT PUT IN: /System/Library/QuickTime.
Sounds normal to me. The "~/Library/QuickTime" folder is the standard location for user and application installed QT components which are used globally by all account users. On the other hand, the "~/System/Library/QuickTime" folder is where QT components installed by the operating system installer are placed for global use. These instructions appear to be correct.
It is possible that the QuickTime directory does not yet exists. In that case you can create it yourself. Pay attention to capital letters if you use a case sensitive file system (i.e. UFS).
    I do not have Library/Quicktime.
Highly unlikely if you are running Mac OS X V10.5.8 as indicated in your posting. As you can see here, when the startup drive is opened at the root level, you should find a minimum of four folders—the "Applications" folder, the "Library" folder, the "System" folder, and the "Users" folder. Without these folders, your computer would be little more than an electrified paperweight.
    I do not have Library/Quicktime.
Either you are looking in the wrong place or someone has been playing around on your system (e.g., in the Console app) and made the folder invisible.

  • Photoshop CC stopped recognizing my video card.  Photoshop CC(64) still recognizes it properly. Video card driver is up to date.

ON or about January 15th my Photoshop CC (original) which I use because it works with many of my older filters was working properly. Several days later it refused to recognize my video card and my performance plummeted. ( It has the performance tab greyed out. )
It keeps popping up a message saying I am out of VRAM. Then when I try using filters like Liquify I get his message.
When I use Photoshop 64bit it correctly finds and uses my video card
How do I make Photoshop CC correctly find my video card?

First, try updating your video card driver from NVidia's website.

  • How to install lan card in solaris 11

    Hi,
can some one please tell me how to install lan card in solaris nevada snv_55b X86, 5.11
When i do ifconfig -a it only displays loop back driver only
    lo0: flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232 index 1
    inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
The other driver was missing can please some one tell me how to install that?

Well, the lan card has to be one that is supported by Solaris and you need to have the proper driver installed before you'll be able to get it running. A good starting point would be to look at the Solaris Hardware Compatability List (HCL) at:
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/hcl/index.html
There is a blue box which says "Check out the X86 device list" which may be a good place to start. You won't be able to pick out Solaris version you're running for the OS type menu but if you can find the device anywhere you should at least be able to determine which driver it uses so you can check that against your system. If you don't have the driver package installed, you'll have to install it before you can see the device. If course, if the device isn't supported you're stuck. At least the HCL can help you select a new interface card which should work.

  • Lost on video card driver

I have the MSI 845 GM/GLM/GEM/PEM/GVM Series for Intel Pentium 4 running Windows XP Home Edition. When I install Service Pack 2 my screen resolution changes and cannot be adjusted. I was told that after installing sp2 I need to update my video card driver. I know it's an onboard video card, but I have no idea what I'm suppose to update. Any help would be appreciated. I'm lost.

You'll need to install the following drivers:
    1) intel.inf chipset driver from www.intel.com
    2) Onboard VGA driver from www.msi.com.tw/index.htm > products page > S478 Desktop > Look for 845GM mainboard > Go to drivers tab > download the onboard graphics driver.
